Chapter 3397: Returning To The Main Stream

Garan Zhiluo was stunned. How was this possible?

Right after that, her body was broken apart by the High Seraph, and her blood sprayed into outer space.

Chu Yi wielded a Pillar of Heaven, smashing down onto the Everstone from above. It was necessary to destroy the sequence base, or else all their attacks would be in vain.

The Pillar of Heaven was not enough to destroy the Everstone. Instead, the pillar was repelled and broken in two.

The flames of the Dominion's Mantle fell down, incinerating Chu Yi and not even leaving ashes behind.

These flames were just as powerful as the ones beneath the Immemorial Citadel.

Lu Yin’s eyes turned bloodshot. Multiple lanterns appeared as he used True God’s Natural Art. At the same time, Lu Yin attacked the High Seraph with Flipping the Sky.

The High Seraph was amazed. “As expected of someone who has stepped onto the path of karma. You may possess the strength to rival the Seraphs, but that’s not enough. It’s far from enough.”

Sequence particles erupted around the man. With a heart as stable as stone, the High Seraph pushed Everstone against the universe, moving both stars and planets. The entire region shifted, until only the High Seraph and Lu Yin remained, with little distance between them.

The High Seraph attacked Lu Yin with a palm strike. “Your death will ensure the survival of the Tianyuan Megaverse, so just die now.”

Only then did Lu Yin understand; the High Seraph was here for him, and he had made this journey because Lu Yin had comprehended the path of karma. This was a path that the High Seraph believed could lead to Immortality.

A lantern shattered.

The High Seraph’s eyes flared, and his body trembled for a moment, despite being surrounded by the Everstone. “You think that this is enough to shatter my law? Ridiculous!”

The man attacked again.

Lu Yin retreated, step by step. He could not compete with his man. While the High Seraph was not utterly untouchable, like Master Qing Cao, it was still impossible for him to defeat the High Seraph.

This was the power of the strongest being beneath the Immortal realm.

At this moment, no matter how they struggled or how many people kept dying, the High Seraph was not invincible. If they could destroy his sequence base, everyone would be able to work together to fight the man. While victory would still not be guaranteed, at least the High Seraph would not have such an easy time.

If they had been facing Master Qing Cao instead, it would have been nothing less than a massacre. No one would have any hope of surviving, and they would not have even had any opportunity to fight back.

Lu Yin was not certain of his own feelings at this moment. Was he relieved that Master Qing Cao had not taken action, or grateful that the High Seraph was still offering the Tianyuan Megaverse a chance at survival?

Lu Yin continued to retreat, even as he raised a hand to unleash his Setting Sun.

As the High Seraph watched, the Everstone trembled once more, though only slightly. A comprehension technique was not enough to shake the sequence base.

Lu Yin raised his hand and sent a spiral of karma towards the High Seraph.

The man’s eyes narrowed. The power of karma. This was something that not even he had comprehended yet. He did not dare to take such a thing lightly, and he dodged aside.

Seizing the opening, Lu Yin raced back to the Heavens Sect to find Destina. Destiny had given Lu Yin the opportunity to restart everything. If not at this moment, then when?

The Dominion's Mantle suddenly fell again, and the entire Heavens Sect was engulfed in flames.

Creatures like the Megalith and the Pridebeast panicked and fled. They had already shrunk down as much as possible when the High Seraph had first attacked, in order to hide themselves. They had not expected the attacker to suddenly set the entire Heavens Sect ablaze.

Lu Yin threw out a Linked Palm in an attempt to use the Dominion's Mantle's own flames to push the attack away.

The fire was terrifying. It was even able to incinerate sequence particles. Chu Yi had been burned to nothingness by these flames.

Progenitor Chen arrived from a different direction, and he also unleashed his Linked Palm.

"Leave this to me!" Progenitor Chen roared, unleashing a barrage of Linked Palms as he pressed closer to the Dominion's Mantle.

Lu Yin ignored everything else as he frantically searched for Destina, only to eventually find her corpse.

When the Dominion's Mantle's flames descended, the entire Heavens Sect had been razed to the ground. The Pridebeast and the Megalith had both been severely injured, and Destina, a mere Semi-Progenitor, had not lasted for even a moment.

Fortunately, Zhao Ran had survived. As a part of Wei Nu’s Dukkha, Zhao Ran may have lacked in combat strength, but she still would not be instantly burned to death.

At this moment, Zhao Ran was trembling in fear. She was hiding beneath a stone table on the mountain behind the Heavens Sect, not understanding anything that was happening.

The sect had been painted with blood.

With Destina dead, who would awaken Zhao Ran?

The High Seraph approached from the distance, the flames of his Dominion's Mantle growing even fiercer.

Progenitor Chen’s hair was blazing, and ever-growing cracks had appeared on his body. Even so, the man persisted, moving closer to the Dominion's Mantle and forcibly dragging it away.

The High Seraph stood atop the Everstone as Big Sis, the Divine Eagle, the Python Ancestor, Wilderness God, and even Luo Shan all appeared and attacked him with everything they had.

In the distance, Forgotten Ruins God and Wang Xiaoyu appeared, and they watched the scene play out in sorrow.

"The Heavens Sect, once so brilliant, is being destroyed so easily.

"It’s a pity. If the Heavens Sect had been prepared, they wouldn’t have suffered so badly. Even if the Spirit Nidus’s High Seraph and Seven Seraphs had come, things still wouldn’t have been this bad."

Wang Xiaoyu stared blankly, her eyes solely on Progenitor Chen. He was fully enveloped in the flames, yet he still clung to the Dominion's Mantle, desperately dragging it away despite knowing that doing so would lead to his own death.

The woman did not even realize that tears were streaming down her face.

Earlier, when the blood-red sword had swung at her, she had assumed that she would die. However, the sword had attacked elsewhere. While Wang Xiaoyu did not know who Forgotten Ruins God had attacked, Wang Xiaoyu had continued to live. However, at this moment, living felt worse than dying.

No one had expected the end of the Origin Universe to arrive so suddenly, heralding the Tianyuan Megaverse’s greatest crisis. They were completely unprepared for such a disaster.

On the mountain behind the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin found Zhao Ran trembling in fear. He raised his hand and sent a spiral of karma towards the girl. This was the only possibility.

The High Seraph turned around, both hands lashing out and shattering both the Divine Eagle and the Python Ancestor. The shockwaves from the attacks blasted Big Sis and Wilderness God away.

The man turned back around in time to see Lu Yin directing a spiral of karma into Zhao Ran’s body. Not knowing what Lu Yin was doing, but still sensing something was wrong, the High Seraph prepared to strike. At that moment, Ancestor Tortoise moved to protect the Heavens Sect, enlarging its body. A single palm strike from the High Seraph shattered the tortoise, and blood rained across the Heavens Sect.

Ancestor Tortoise’s blood painted Lu Yin red even as he focused entirely on Zhao Ran.

The spiral of karma entered the woman’s body. She quivered, and then the fear and confusion in her eyes instantly disappeared, replaced by a clarity and understanding of her surroundings.

She looked up and met Lu Yin’s eyes.

Lu Yin stared down at the woman. "Destiny, I believe in you."

Zhao Ran stared at Lu Yin for a moment, and then rage filled her eyes. She shot to her feet and flipped the stone table over. Without another glance at Lu Yin or the approaching High Seraph, Zhao Ran shrieked as though she were insane. “Destiny, how dare you ambush me? You dare to ambush me!? I am the ferryman of the River of Aeons! Me, not you! What I don’t want, you cannot take!”

Even as she spoke, the River of Aeons appeared in space above her.

The High Seraph was stunned. "The River of Aeons?"

Zhao Ran leapt up into the River of Aeons. A small boat appeared, but when she stepped aboard it, she could feel that something had changed.

At the same time, from inside the Mirari Realm, Wei Nu saw Zhao Ran appear on the boat, and she shouted, "No!"

It was already too late. Destiny’s ambush, combined with Zhao Ran’s sudden mental clarity, had left her consumed by her rage. It was a fury that even overshadowed the High Seraph’s bloodlust. Zhao Ran completely ignored Wei Nu.

Despite only being a part of Wei Nu’s Dukkha, Zhao Ran was also the ferryman of the River of Aeons.

The moment Zhao Ran stepped into the boat, she became Wei Nu, not just an aspect of the woman’s Dukkha.

Zhao Ran grabbed an oar and dipped it into the River of Aeons.

At that moment, the entire megaverse fell silent.

The High Seraph froze.

Lu Yin stared up at the River of Aeons. He could see not only Zhao Ran, but also Wei Nu, as well as another figure. Was that Destiny?

Around those three figures, time started to flow back.

Everything that had happened was the result of Destiny’s ambush. She had created a branch in the River of Aeons, but the awakening of its ferryman had caused that branch to vanish and merged back into the main stream. This made it look as though time was reversing.

Lu Yin crushed the stone in his hand while using the compass and tearing the void open. Others might be fine letting their time reverse with the flow of the river, but he could not. He needed to resist this temporal reversion.

He glanced back, but where was the High Seraph? Was the man capable of escaping from the temporal reversion as well?

The High Seraph released a breath, amazed by the sight before him. "So this is the power of the River of Aeons. That woman must be the ferryman. As expected, only Immortals can escape from the grasp of time."

He turned to look at Lu Yin. "Boy, just wait for me. I will return. You cannot escape death. If the Tianyuan Megaverse wants to persist, then you must die."

Lu Yin let out a sigh of relief. Not even the High Seraph could escape what was happening.

The fact that the Mirari Realm was anchored to the Tianyuan Megaverse simply meant that it was the only megaverse that could interfere with the River of Aeons, not that other megaverses lacked the power of time.

Time still flowed through those megaverses, but they were unable to interfere with the River of Aeons.

Lu Yin stepped through the void, moving into the Mirari Realm.

He glanced back once more, taking in the blood-stained sight of the Heavens Sect. Further away, there was the millstone and the shattered ruins of the Immemorial Citadel. All of this destruction had been caused by the High Seraph. Lu Yin would never forget this debt.

The High Seraph had arrived too suddenly, and everyone had been caught entirely unprepared.

Next time, things would not play out this way.

Next time, Lu Yin would deliver this bloodshed upon the Spirit Nidus.

Lu Yin entered the Mirari Realm. This was the only place where he could escape the effects of the branch in the River of Aeons returning to the main stream, which effectively meant avoiding the temporal reversion. The Mirari Realm was disconnected from the concept of time, and it existed separately from the River of Aeons.

As soon as Lu Yin arrived in the Mirari Realm, he saw Wei Nu.

The woman’s expression was grim. “I can’t believe I was ambushed! Attacked through the River of Aeons itself. Destiny, you are truly ruthless.”

The woman turned to Lu Yin, her grim expression warping into something odd. “Are you here to avoid the temporal reversion?”

“Is that not allowed?” Lu Yin countered.

As time passed in that branch of the River of Aeons, Lu Yin had gained too much. He had learned about the Spirit Nidus, enhanced his consciousness, acquired sequence bases, and developed the Inner Clarity Technique. If he did not avoid the temporal reversion, he would lose all of that. If he had to redo everything, he was not sure if he could obtain all that he had gained before.

Karma... he did not want to suffer through that experience again to comprehend that ability. That pain had been etched into his very bones.

Wei Nu laughed in a mocking manner. “Destiny ambushed me and allowed you to to take advantage of me, but you actually chose to avoid the temporal reversion? What terrible luck for you. You tried too hard to be clever.”

Lu Yin was puzzled. “What do you mean?”

He suddenly had a bad feeling.

When it came to understanding the River of Aeons, he could not compare to Wei Nu. If she was mocking him, there had to be a reason.

“Haven’t you mastered karma? Then figure it out for yourself! Basically, you’re completely out of luck now,” Wei Nu said.

As they spoke, the Origin Universe’s time rolled back. However, Forgotten Ruins God and Wang Xiaoyu were not affected by this temporal reversion. They were holding the blood-red sword, which had the power of an Immortal. Only those in the Immortal realm could escape from the River of Aeons.

Between the Tianyuan Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus, Meng Sang was on his way to the Spirit Nidus.

When time reversed, he would be carried along as well.

This temporal reversion was not just limited to the Tianyuan Megaverse, as it was spreading to all the megaverses. The Mirari Realm was anchored to the Tianyuan Megaverse, which allowed it to interfere with the River of Aeons. Other universes lacked the ability to interfere with the River of Aeons, but they were still under its influence.

Not even the Aevum Inch between the megaverses was free from the River of Aeons.

Suddenly, a seed appeared, and it suppressed Meng Sang.

“The Tianyuan Megaverse actually reversed time. I underestimated them. This is likely a measure that was prepared for me, but the High Seraph’s attack ended up forcing them to use it. This has also forced me to use the power that I was given by Master Qing Cao. I’ll need to mend this karmic cause and effect, as well as the karma with Tian Ci. How troublesome.”

It was True God who had spoken.
