Chapter 3431: Do Your Thing

As time passed, the entire Spirit Nidus eventually learned of the matter.

Seraph Yi Shang had also returned to the Daquan Domain. It would take him a great deal of time to recover from his injuries.

When he heard about Threeheaded Fiend’s suicidal actions regarding Boundless, the Seraph just sneered. However, he also could not make sense of the actions of the Tianyuan Megaverse group. Just what was their goal? Did they intend to challenge the entire Spirit Nidus? They could not possibly be that foolish. Also, why had the High Seraph not intervened yet?

What kind of agreement had the High Seraph reached with the Tianyuan Megaverse?

If it was simply a matter of removing all who refused to submit to the High Seraph, that would be one answer, but if the High Seraph delayed too long, others would grow suspicious. What was that man thinking?

There was a domain in the Spirit Nidus known as the Phantom Reach Domain. It was a place that specialized in assassinations, and it was also home to the Three Assassins.

The Phantom Reach Domain was a very powerful domain, and it was even on the same level as the Daquan Domain. Despite its lack of Seraph-level powerhouses, no one dared to underestimate the domain. There were rumors that an ancient monster who had once assassinated a Seraph still lived there.

The Phantom Reach Domain served a unique purpose within the Spirit Nidus; it acted on behalf of the Ascendant Hall to eliminate those who were marked for death. Additionally, the domain was responsible for maintaining the Black Spirit List.

The Black Spirit List was a list of those who had been marked for execution. The people on the list could be killed by anyone and were considered the entire megaverse’s enemies.

Additionally, these Phantom Reach Domain’s targets’ threat levels were measured by how many black spirits they were given.

"Another job has been submitted to investigate Boundless."

"Turn it down."

"Boundless is shrouded in too much mystery and is too dangerous. Everyone wants someone else to test the waters. While our Phantom Reach Domain may work as assassins, we aren’t suicidal. The Daquan Domain has already been ruined, and even the Three Assassins were caught up in that mess."

"We don’t know all the details of what happened at the boundary, but we do know that Boundless came from there. The Three Assassins have completely disappeared, and the High Seraph has to be somehow involved in the matter, even if we don’t know how."

"Reject all jobs that target Boundless. Also, don’t recklessly assign black spirits to anyone who is on that ship."

"Understood."

"This Grandverse Manor is rather intriguing. What has given Yuan Qi the courage to rebel?"

The Gate of Laws stood in the Domain of Laws, which was regarded as a sacred site for the Spirit Nidus. It was the source of every sequence base, though no one outside of the Gate of Laws knew how many unfinished sequence bases were being worked on. It was said that the domain also served as the final resting place for many sequence powerhouses who were knocking on death’s door.

It was once said that, if the Spirit Nidus ever faced a major crisis, the Gate of Laws would summon a great number of ancient monsters who were believed to have died long ago. This domain safeguarded the last sliver of hope for the megaverse.

The Spirit Nidus and the Tianyuan Megaverse had differing cultivation systems. If the two megaverses stood on the same level, then the Spirit Nidus’s system would give rise to a far greater number of powerhouses. However, the Tianyuan Megaverse’s strength lay in their future potential. While that future was full of uncertainties, no one could predict what kind of powerhouses might arise.

However, the two megaverses were not on equal footing at the moment, as the Spirit Nidus was far ahead of the Tianyuan Megaverse. Their fear of the Tianyuan Megaverse’s future potential was why the Spirit Nidus had plotted against them so long ago by targeting the Origin Progenitor and stifling the megaverse’s cultivation methods to prevent it from meeting its full potential.

This had doomed the Tianyuan Megaverse to give birth to far fewer powerhouses.

Throughout the countless years, the Tianyuan Megaverse had endured endless war as humanity fought against the Aeternals. During that same period of time, the Spirit Nidus had experienced a smooth and uninterrupted development, which had resulted in a terrifying disparity in the number of powerhouses between the two megaverses.

Not even those like Progenitor Xi, who sought to incite war between the Tianyuan Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus, failed to fully understand the gap between the two. Yuan Qi was also ignorant of the difference due to his long absence, just like Zhan Yan and the others.

It was possible that not even the Gate of Laws’ Zhan family was aware of just how many powerhouses still lived.

Such people were on the brink of death, clinging to their last breaths for the sake of completing a sequence base.

The recent turmoil in the Spirit Nidus had caused some of those ancient monsters to start awakening.

"Some brat sent word saying that old guy Yuan Qi has gone rogue and wants to oppose the High Seraph."

"Your descendants know that you’re still alive?"

"I just picked that up from their offerings, of course. Next time they leave an offering, I’ll jump out and scare them to death, hahaha!"

"Old man, even when you’re about to die, you still have such a twisted sense of humor. Still, that old geezer Yuan Qi must be insane. Do you understand just how powerful the High Seraph is? Even at our peak, we couldn’t oppose him. What makes Yuan Qi think that he can succeed? He isn’t that much stronger than us, is he?"

"How can you say that without blushing? Did you forget how his Dao Bell crushed you and sent you fleeing in panic back then?"

"Eh? You’re also alive, old man?"

"Hey, don’t rat me out and make me look bad! We’re already half-buried in the dirt. Watch what you say."

"Hmph! Yuan Qi dares to endorse what is forbidden? He’s opposing the entire Spirit Nidus, as well as the High Seraph himself. We might just have to go out and teach him a lesson."

"Go do whatever you want then. We want to continue sleeping."

"Do your thing."

"Just go and do it."

"All of you, hmph! So short-sighted. You’ll have all the time in the world to sleep once you’re dead."

"Just leave already."

"Just go"

"Fuck off!"

"Who just swore at me?"

...

Voices rang out in the Ascendant Hall, each from another person who begged the High Seraph to strip Yuan Qi of his title as Seraph.

Yuan Qi had left for the Tianyuan Megaverse ages ago, and ever since, everyone had been waiting for his title to be stripped from him. There were rumors that claimed that Yuan Qi had not left just as part of the strategy against the Tianyuan Megaverse, but also because the High Seraph had targeted the Seraph.

Everyone had believed that it would only be a matter of time before Yuan Qi lost his title.

However, as time passed, Yuan Qi had remained a Seraph, his position unshakable and as steady as a mountain. Regardless of how many years he had been absent from the Spirit Nidus for, nothing changed. Even so, many coveted his position, and they were all awaiting their chance.

Now, Yuan Qi had finally returned, broken multiple taboos, and even openly challenged the High Seraph. This was the opportunity that many had been yearning for.

While no one knew why Yuan Qi had suddenly gone insane, there was no doubt that he would surely lose his title this time.

More and more people sought an audience with the High Seraph, urging him to revoke Yuan Qi’s title as Seraph.

However, the High Seraph remained silent. He refused to state his position on the matter.

In the Ascendant Hall’s Apex Palace, Palace Master Yao opened her eyes and gathered her sequence particles. She looked ahead at the High Seraph, who calmly sat in front of her.

She served as the High Seraph’s whetstone. She cultivated the fourth-ranked sequence technique, Absolute Reversal, and the High Seraph used that to hone his own sequence technique, Everstone. Only Palace Master Yao had an idea of just how terrifying the High Seraph’s sequence particles were. If she had to voice it in a succinct description, she would simply describe it as “what is envisioned becomes reality.”

She had also heard of the recent developments.

She had already asked the High Seraph why he had refused to allow her to go to the Tianyuan Megaverse, but he had never given her an answer.

Using the recent news as an excuse, Palace Master Yao wanted to ask the question again.

Several days later, the High Seraph opened his own eyes and let out a soft breath.

He turned and saw Palace Master Yao as she slowly bowed. “My lord.”

“Things have gotten quite lively outside.”

“Yes. Seraph Yuan Qi has returned and is openly challenging the Ascendant Hall. He has stated that he will rewrite the laws of the Spirit Nidus.”

“Hmm. Good. Things have been too dull recently.”

Palace Master Yao hesitated briefly, but then she asked, “My lord, regardless of Seraph Yuan Qi’s intentions, shouldn’t he lose his title as Seraph?”

The High Seraph looked at her and replied, “Are you asking for yourself, or for someone else?”

Palace Master Yao quickly bowed again. “I’m asking for myself. I wish to compete for the title of Seraph.”

The High Seraph calmly observed the woman. “That was possible before, but no longer.”

Palace Master Yao was startled. She prided herself on being second only to the Seraphs in strength, and she believed that her relationship with the High Seraph guaranteed that she would eventually receive the title.

Yuan Qi had gone mad and challenged the entire Spirit Nidus. Thus, Palace Master Yao had believed this to be her chance, so why were things turning out so differently than expected?

“Leave.”

Palace Master Yao left the Ascendant Hall, completely bewildered.

She had not been given an answer, but instead learned that she had no chance of becoming a Seraph for the time being.

The High Seraph stared off into space. “You want to open up a Seraph’s seat and sow chaos in the Spirit Nidus. Lord Lu, your schemes are clever, but you still underestimate the Spirit Nidus. Since your megaverse’s Heavens Sect era, the gap between our megaverses has become immeasurable.

“If you have learned of the Lesser Spirit Megaverse, then you should understand why the people I sent to invade the Tianyuan Megaverse never revealed an overwhelming power. It’s not that they couldn’t, but rather that they did not want to.

“You want to understand my Spirit Nidus? In that case, let me show it to you clearly.

“I hope that you can endure until the end and help me complete my grand design.”

Boundless spent several months sailing through the Spirit Nidus. After the Pridebeast tore Threeheaded Fiend apart, no one else dared to make trouble for Boundless, though there was also no one who sought to join them either.

Boundless had already passed through five domains, and they had seen a number of powerful organizations. They had even brushed past one of the major factions, but those gates had remained firmly shut, the people within refusing to engage with Boundless. No matter how overt or covert their efforts were, the people simply refused to open their gates, which left Lu Yin quite frustrated.

“Simply being intimidating isn’t enough. We need to give those who want to join Boundless a bit of confidence as well,” Lu Yin decided.

Cai Jun stepped forward and respectfully spoke up. “Young master.”

“Call me Third Boss.”

Cai Jun was not used to such a title, but he had no choice but to comply. “Third Boss.”

Lu Yin looked at the man, and Cai Jun proceeded to draw a star chart in the air. “Third Boss, we are headed towards the Hundred Grasses Domain. If we avoid traveling along the Spirit Thread connections and take a slightly longer route, we can still approach the Hundred Grasses Domain from another direction, while also traveling through the Cai Domain.”

Lu Yin’s eyes lit up. “A detour is not a problem. Can we pass through the Cai Domain?”

“Yes.”

Lu Yin immediately ordered Boundless to alter course and follow the route that Cai Jun provided.

Confidence started to climb.

While Boundless had demonstrated overwhelming power, the battleship had also publicly opposed the entire Spirit Nidus. Those who were already facing injustice or sought protection had to already be in dire straits, and joining Boundless might seem like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. However, if Boundless could prove that it would offer assistance to those in a desperate situation, people might choose to join the Grandverse Manor, while also providing Lu Yin with an excuse to stir things up even further.

The chaos that others saw was nothing more than a facade. Lu Yin needed to outwit and outmaneuver the High Seraph, and that man was anything but a fool. Every step Lu Yin took might have already been anticipated by the High Seraph. Because of that, Lu Yin decided that not even he would know his next move. The only things that remained constant were his goals: to mend his broken karma and sow chaos in the Spirit Nidus.

At the same time, he needed to keep an eye out for True God, who was lurking in the shadows. That man was yet another problem, one that, in Lu Yin’s eyes, posed an even greater threat than the High Seraph.

The High Seraph was an overt threat, but True God was completely hidden. This was much like how the ancient Heavens Sect had been brought low by unseen dangers festering out of sight. Lu Yin was determined to not suffer the same kind of ambush as the Origin Progenitor.
