Chapter 3534: Not A Little Harm

Su Shidao was ignorant of the grudge between Hu Wu and Tian Ya and the High Seraph. "Anyways, don't look at me. I’ve already sworn to never compete for the title of Seraph."

Lu Yin casually stated, "No one will compete with you. You swore not to compete, so no one will fight you for the position, isn't that enough?"

Sitting beside the fish pond, Su Shidao was taken aback. Is that even possible?

How could there not be any competition when a Seraph’s position became vacant? This was even more of an issue with the Day of Offering approaching so quickly. How could none of the old monsters be willing to take the risk? It was impossible for there to be no competition.

Soon, Su Shidao, just like Old Yu, realized the truth. With the Third Boss around, it was a real possibility that no one would have the courage to compete for the position.

How was competition even possible? Whoever stepped forward would be doomed. As long as people did not want to die, they would not compete.

Bao Qi, Yi Nan, and many others had already been dealt with. The old monsters, no matter how tempted they might be, had not lived this long by being stupid. Instead of being targeted by the Third Boss, it would be better to cling to life for a few more years.

Su Shidao rubbed his head. "Honestly, Third Boss, I really don't want to get involved in external affairs any longer. Staying in the Spirit Treasure Domain, fishing, and mentoring juniors is pretty good. It’s a relaxed life."

Lu Yin replied, "Then just wait for me to find a suitable person. All you have to do is surrender to them, and they’ll replace you."

Su Shidao grew annoyed. "Is my self-respect not even my own anymore?"

"If you don't agree, I'll go to the Spirit Treasure Domain right now."

"Come now, what could you possibly gain by coming here? Do you still want to fight me? That would be perfect. By defeating me, you’ll make it impossible for me to become a Seraph. That also works. When you were last in the Spirit Treasure Domain, we fought. I just have to say that I lost to you at that time, and then I’ll never be able to become a Seraph." Su Shidao grew confident.

Lu Yin coolly announced, "I want to join the Spirit Treasure Society."

The spirit cloudstone remained silent.

"You are ruthless."

"Same to you."

"Fine, I agree, but let me fish. Today, I must catch that fish. It’s so hateful. It dared to spit at me. I will definitely catch it, skin it, and sun-dry it into jerky." With that, the conversation went dead.

Lu Yin threw the spirit cloudstone to Old Yu.

The old man laughed. "Did he agree?"

"I made him agree."

Old Yu laughed bitterly. "The truth is that Su Shidao spent the first half of his life trying to become a Seraph. It was only when he lost to Meng Sang that he lost heart. The title of Seraph is not as wonderful as he believed it to be."

The old man stared at Lu Yin for a long time. "Lord Lu, no matter how you view my Wisdom Domain, I’ve already confirmed the final outcome. Didn't you want to see how the Wisdom Domain stays an era ahead? Seeing the outcome will serve as proof for you."

The valley fell silent, and Old Yu left.

The Wisdom Domain and the Phantom Reach had repeatedly worked against Lu Yin. The Phantom Reach had been destroyed, and the Wisdom Domain had been forced to pay compensation in the form of losing a Dukkhan.

The matter was temporarily set aside.

No matter how the future unfolded, Lu Yin could not act against the Wisdom Domain for the time being, no matter how badly he might want to.

Compared to Old Yu, Su Shidao was simply too naive.

A few days later, news from the Roaming South Realm spread that the master of the Phantom Reach, Yi Nan, had been defeated by the Grandverse Manor’s Third Boss. No one seemed to know if Yi Nan was alive or dead, and the competition for the title of Seraph was an unknown once again.

The Spirit Nidus was completely shaken by this news.

People had not yet recovered from the news of the battle at the Umbral Deep, and they were already learning about another battle in the Roaming South Realm, which also featured the Third Boss. Just what did he want? Was he trying to monopolize two Seraphs’ positions alone?

Considering what he had publicly boasted about: sheltering those who had been persecuted for violating the megaverse’s edicts, challenging the Spirit Nidus’s greatest experts, and wanting to carve on the Apex Palace’s walls, everything that the Third Boss did seemed to challenge the limits of the entire Spirit Nidus.

He was far too arrogant.

And yet, no one said anything more than that. Lu Yin had already defeated Seraph Bao Qi at the battle at the Umbral Deep, fully demonstrating his incredible strength. Out of everyone in the Spirit Nidus, it seemed that only the High Seraph could suppress the Third Boss.

In that case, why had the High Seraph still not made a move?

Many people grew worried that Lu Yin might truly monopolize two Seraphs’ positions by himself. What would that do for the upcoming Day of Offering?

Before people could truly react to the development, Su Shidao announced to the megaverse that he would take the title of Seraph.

His announcement was like a clap of thunder that echoed across the Spirit Nidus.

All eyes fell upon the Spirit Treasure Domain.

Su Shidao, the premier Spirit Treasure Grandmaster in the entire Spirit Nidus, who was truly a peerless expert, had once fought for the title of Seraph. And he had only been defeated through luck, rather than strength.

Had he not previously sworn to never again compete for the title of Seraph?

The Spirit Treasure Society itself was taken aback, though all of their members fully supported Su Shidao. He was greatly admired by every Spirit Treasure Master.

As soon as Su Shidao declared his intention to become a Seraph, everyone grew curious about how Lu Yin would react. Would he go attack Su Shidao as well?

The Third Boss had spent a bit of time in the Spirit Treasure Domain, and he supposedly enjoyed a very good relationship with Su Shidao.

Shortly after Su Shidao’s announcement, Lu Yin also publicly announced his intention to take the title of Seraph.

No one was surprised by the news. If Lu Yin had made the announcement earlier, he would have provoked countless powerhouses across the Spirit Nidus into condemning him, as he was an outsider. However, Lu Yin had stepped forward after proving his invincible strength. He had already silenced the people of the Spirit Nidus.

Even if someone did not want to see Lu Yin become one of the Seven Seraphs, it was not their decision. Only the High Seraph could change this outcome.

The High Seraph was the true judge of such matters. Everyone else could really do nothing more than watch the spectacles.

Lu Yin's bold announcement that he would become a Seraph caused many people to suspect something, especially given the context of Su Shidao's recent actions.

The Grandverse Manor’s Third Boss seemed to be supporting Su Shidao, and he would ensure that the Spirit Treasure Grandmaster took the title of Seraph. It was believed that whoever tried to fight Su Shidao for the title of Seraph would be targeted by the Third Boss.

Even if someone did manage to defeat Su Shidao, could they survive being targeted by the Third Boss?

Even ignoring that, Su Shidao was more than strong enough to qualify to be a Seraph.

Countless people throughout the Spirit Nidus discussed the announcements, and many became curious to see who would dare to go after Su Shidao.

As for the Third Boss, people believed that no one had the courage to provoke him any longer.

After considering all the available options, it seemed that all experts who were known to be strong enough to compete for the position of Seraph had already been defeated. The Third Boss had crushed too many experts on his own, and because of that, no one in the Spirit Nidus was willing to step forward.

...

In the Spirit Treasure Domain, a group of Spirit Treasure Masters had gathered outside of Su Shidao’s home.

The old man emerged, and everyone bowed low. "Congratulations, Senior Su, on becoming a Seraph."

"Congratulations, Senior Su, on becoming a Seraph."

"Congratulations..."

Su Shidao frowned. "I’m not a Seraph yet. What’s the rush?"

Grandmaster Zhi Shan smiled. "There is currently no one left who can compete with you, Senior Su."

Grandmaster Yu Ran asked, "Senior Su, will you assume the title of Seraph here in the Spirit Treasure Domain?"

Grandmaster Ying Han laughed. "Of course he will! The Spirit Treasure Domain has finally produced a Seraph. Hahaha!"

The crowd grew increasingly excited. Who did not want to see their domain produce a Seraph? Not everyone could see things as clearly as Su Shidao.

His attention fell upon Grandmaster Ying Han. "Are you truly that happy?"

Grandmaster Ying Han looked puzzled. "Senior, are you not happy?"

Everyone turned to look at Su Shidao.

He continued to stare intently at Grandmaster Ying Han. "How can you still be so happy after the Phantom Reach was destroyed?"

Grandmaster Yu Ran and the others instantly turned around to stare at Grandmaster Ying Han in utter astonishment.

Qian Huifeng frowned. "Senior Su, are you saying that Grandmaster Ying Han is a member of the Phantom Reach?"

The emotions in the eyes of the members of the Spirit Treasure Society changed quite drastically as they stared at Grandmaster Ying Han.

The Phantom Reach was despised by all in the Spirit Nidus. The Phantom Reach’s people operated in the shadows and specialized in assassinations. No one liked such people.

It was not surprising that the Phantom Reach had planted people within the Spirit Treasure Society. Rather, the shocking part was that one of those moles was actually a Spirit Treasure Grandmaster.

It was incredibly difficult to become a Spirit Treasure Grandmaster, especially one of the Spirit Treasure Society’s.

Grandmaster Ying Han's face grew pale, and he forced out a laugh. "Senior Su, h- how could I possibly be from Phantom Reach? Senior, please don't joke about such things."

Su Shidao spoke softly, "Before the Third Boss entered the Spirit Treasure Domain, you alone approached the Grandmaster's Trial. He came here because he received information from the Phantom Reach, and that was also connected to your actions, wasn't it?"

Grandmaster Yu Ran's eyes flickered. "I remember that. Only you approached the Grandmaster's Trial. Ying Han, are you really a part of the Phantom Reach?"

Qian Huifeng, Zhi Shan, and the others also grew cold.

If Ying Han was nothing more than a member of the Phantom Reach, while it would be upsetting, people would not overreact. After all, the Spirit Treasure Society included members from many different factions. Such things were seen as normal.

However, things would be very different if Ying Han had helped the Phantom Reach lure Lu Yin to the Spirit Treasure Domain and aided in the attempt to incite a conflict between the society and the Grandverse Manor. When the Third Boss had first arrived, everyone in the Spirit Treasure Society had believed that disaster had befallen them and that war with the Third Boss was inevitable. If not for the fact that the Third Boss was also a Spirit Formation Grandmaster and that his personality was different from what the outside rumors claimed, the Spirit Treasure Domain would not be as peaceful as it was at present. It would have been washed with blood.

The Phantom Reach's actions had not only been an attempt to use the Spirit Treasure Society to eliminate the Third Boss, but it had also been an attempt to utterly destroy the Spirit Treasure Society.

Such an act was far more detestable than mere betrayal.

Grandmaster Ying Han's face turned ashen. His strength fled his body, and his legs trembled.

It was true that he was a member of the Phantom Reach, and it was also that he had been the one to plant the information about Bao Qi beneath the Grandmaster's Trial. When the Third Boss had first arrived in the Spirit Treasure Domain and wanted to visit the Grandmaster's Trial, Ying Han had also been the first to speak up. He had escalated the situation to the point of life and death. Everything had been orchestrated by him.

"I had no choice. I... I was taken in by the Phantom Reach as a child. I was forced to do whatever they told me to do. I had no way out." Grandmaster Ying Han crumpled to his knees and started begging Su Shidao. "Senior Su, please! I beg you to forgive me! I had no choice! I couldn't escape from the Phantom Reach. They controlled my entire life! I had no way to escape.

"I never wanted to harm the Spirit Treasure Society. I never meant to harm any of you! I was forced—truly forced! I never wanted this! Never..."

The members of the Spirit Treasure Society grew enraged, and they wanted to rip the man apart.

One wrong step would have caused the entire Spirit Treasure Society to be flooded with blood. How could mere pleading be enough to receive forgiveness?

Su Shidao’s expression became conflicted. Ying Han had been a member of the Spirit Treasure Society for many years, and he had also always been diligent, never stepping out of line. It was possible that this had been the first time the Phantom Reach had required anything of him.

Still, what he had done was too heinous. If he was not dealt with, it would be a betrayal of the entire Spirit Treasure Society.

"Yu Ran, handle this." Su Shidao waved a hand and returned to his Black and White Domain.

Grandmaster Yu Ran's expression became glacial as she stared at Grandmaster Ying Han.

The man continued to beg, even as his voice faded away.

Su Shidao stared up at the stars. His once calm heart was starting to stir again. That brat really made a huge mess of things.

...

In the Ascendant Hall’s Apex Palace, the High Seraph was staring in the Roaming South Realm’s direction, his hands clasped behind his back.

Old Yu was too simple in his thoughts. Did he genuinely believe that the mighty ruler of a megaverse could be used?

No matter how intelligent that old man might be, he could never rise to become such a ruler, and he would never be able to understand their thoughts.

The moment that Yi Nan had replaced Yi Shang as Seraph, the entire megaverse had expected Lord Lu to take action, and he had inevitably done so. His expectations had been perfectly met.

The Roaming South Realm? I hope you won't disappoint me.
