Star Odyssey-Chapter 3571: The Peace Of The Ordinary
Chapter 3571: The Peace Of The Ordinary
This period when sequence powerhouses were reciting the Everstone Discourse was somewhat awkward for those aboard Boundless.
Most of the people from the Tianyuan Megaverse were either soldiers from the Tianyuan Army or black energy converter users who had never reached the level of peak powerhouses. All the cultivators beneath the Progenitor realm had benefited from the Spirit Ancestors that had recited the Everstone Discourse. That also included the talented individuals from the Spirit Nidus who had joined the Grandverse Manor. For these people, the experiences and insights of sequence powerhouses felt too far off and distant.
The rest of the experts aboard the battleship were sequence powerhouses themselves, like Lu Tianyi and Ce Wangtian. Since they were at the same level as the reciters, it would be difficult for them to gain any benefits from the experiences of other sequence powerhouses.
For these reasons, hearing the recitations of the sequence powerhouses meant little for the people aboard Boundless.
There were a few members of Second Life who had not yet comprehended any laws of the universe, and they listened attentively. Shao Chen also listened, but because he cultivated the mortal world, his path did not align with the others'.
Below the battleship’s decks, Silver looked up. He was listening quietly, a sly smile touching his lips. How very interesting, this Spirit Nidus.
When the first sequence powerhouse disappeared, a second stepped out, followed by a third, a fourth, and then a fifth.
Each sequence powerhouse triggered strong emotional reactions from a number of people who started reminiscing about the past.
Sacrificing five sequence powerhouses would likely lead to the rise of countless geniuses on the level of the Junior Progenitors, or possibly even a number of new sequence powerhouses.
Above Boundless, sequence particles started to appear and gather, drawing the attention of Lu Yin and the others. They noticed that someone was experiencing a breakthrough, rising from the Progenitor realm to the Sequence Progenitor level.
The sequence particles gathered in a corner where five people sat. They were the members of Second Life.
Four of them were looking at Second Gang with expressions of joy.
“Old Gang, you’ve finally broken through!”
“Congratulations, Brother!”
“Congrats!”
Second Gang was very excited. "This Devouring Sequence Technique, which is ranked sixteenth in the Spirit Nidus, perfectly matches my innate gift. I owe that old guy a great deal."
He was referring to the third sequence powerhouse who had spoken. That man had cultivated the Devouring Sequence Technique while also developing an incredibly strong physique. This man’s experiences had closely matched Second Gang’s path, granting him the inspiration he needed to have a breakthrough.
At the bow of Boundless, Lu Yin showed a sly smile. Is that a breakthrough? Good. Everyone should have a breakthrough.
He gathered up all the collected spirit seeds and placed them on the landmass in his inner universe. He did not understand what had happened, but since spirit seeds could be transformed into a liquid form, he needed to adjust his strategy for them. Before, he had been gathering spirit seeds in an attempt to limit the number of cultivators in the Spirit Nidus’s coming generations, despite knowing that his efforts were nothing more than a minor trick. But with this new development, gathering spirit seeds was officially a viable strategy now.
If he could gather all the spirit seeds in the Spirit Nidus and then transform them into a liquid, then regardless of what prompted that transformation, the bottom line would be a Spirit Nidus devoid of spirit seeds. Even if the megaverse ended up with more Immortals than the Tianyuan Megaverse, they would have to restart their cultivation development from scratch.
Where there was a high, there also had to be a low.
Old Yu and the High Seraph both believed that Lu Yin’s gathering of spirit seeds was childish, so he would show them what it really meant.
But at this moment...
Lu Yin released his inner universe, spreading it out to envelop all the entire Hundred Grasses Domain. No matter who experienced a breakthrough aboard Boundless, even if they broke through to the Origin realm, no one outside of the battleship would be able to sense a thing.
For this opportunity, Lu Yin had shared information about Master Qing Cao with Old Yu, and the Wisdom Domain had agreed to provide those aboard Boundless with an opportunity to advance their cultivation. The truth was that Old Yu had never cared whether the people on Boundless improved. After all, how many experts could actually improve? Five? Ten? At most, there were a dozen.
As far as Old Yu was concerned, in the worst outcome, the Tianyuan Megaverse would gain another dozen or so Ortusers. In the scope of the entire Spirit Nidus, that was a small number.
However, for the Tianyuan Megaverse, it was a terrifying number.
However, even if Old Yu knew about this, the rest of the Spirit Nidus did not.
When Boundless’s newly transformed strength was revealed to the Spirit Nidus, it would cause a massive shock. Lu Yin was eager to see that reaction himself.
The strength of those traveling with Boundless was not at all simple. Only truly exceptional individuals had qualified to join Lu Yin in the Spirit Nidus.
Having so many people experience breakthroughs was something that Old Yu would regret facilitating.
After the sequence powerhouses participated, it was time for the Ortusers.
Countless eyes throughout the thirty-six domains were focused on the Wisdom Domain at this moment, eager to see the Ortuser that would sacrifice themselves.
Anyone who could reach the Origin realm was one of the most elite in the entire megaverse. Most of the thirty-six domains of the Spirit Nidus were led by sequence powerhouses.
In the Wisdom Domain, Old Yu let out a sigh. "Old friend, go ahead. You've been waiting for this day for a long time."
Close to the old man, a figure stepped out of the shadows. The person glanced over at Old Yu. "To be honest, I'd rather die at the next Everstone Discourse. At least that would allow me to continue living."
Old Yu chuckled, but he said nothing.
The figure sighed and then stepped into outer space to appear near Everstone. A conflicted expression could be seen on the man’s face. "I could grit my teeth and keep on living."
As the man stepped forward, his appearance and voice spread to the thirty-six domains, and many powerful individuals shot to their feet in shock. "The Consciousness Domain’s marshal?"
In the Consciousness Domain, Shi Xiu and others were flabbergasted. How is this possible? He's still alive?
Qi Yuan was a famous member of the Consciousness Domain’s Qi family. He had been one of Qi Gong’s ancestors, and he had served as the marshal of the Spirit Nidus’s forces in the Consciousness Megaverse on many occasions. He had led the cultivators who trained their consciousnesses to bring a number of terrible disasters to the Consciousness Megaverse. Qi Zun’s death had left Qi Yuan as the Spirit Nidus’s greatest consciousness cultivator, the only one with a Celestial-level consciousness.
However, Qi Yuan had died in the Consciousness Megaverse long ago, perishing with one of the Thirteen Luminaries, Ye Meng. During that battle, the Luminary had sacrificed themselves to take down Qi Yuan, and neither had survived the battle. That was the last time that either Ye Meng or Qi Yuan had been seen.
The Qi family also lost their marshal.
If Qi Yuan had been around, the Revolt Alliance would have had no chance to rise to power, and Shi Xiu would have never had the courage to take any rash actions.
He had never considered the possibility of Qi Yuan still being alive.
If Qi Yuan was still alive, why had he never shown up? He had not appeared when the Revolt Alliance was established, when the Qi family had been suppressed, and not even when the Third Boss had barged into the Consciousness Domain and destroyed the Qi family. When all of those incidents had occurred, no one had even thought of Qi Yuan, as his death had already been confirmed; there was even more proof than Qi Zun’s death. How was it possible for him to still be alive?
Above Boundless, Lu Yin arched a brow as he listened to Old Tao's introduction. He’s been alive, but he never helped his Qi family even a little? He’s an Ortuser, so even if he lacked the strength to make any difference, there’s no reason for him to have just watched on as his Qi family was destroyed.
Qi Yuan formed a resonance with Everstone, and his voice rang out. "People, only after experiencing certain things can you learn to let go. Fame, reputation, status, cultivation—nothing is more important than being ordinary. Those expeditions to the Consciousness Megaverse were the most glorious moments of my life, but they were also the most exhausting. Rather than saying that I’m an Ortuser, it’s more accurate to say that I’m a half Dukkhan. I am no longer the person I once was.
"I’ve reveled in my glory and experienced my time of being ordinary. Before I die, let me shine once more. Everyone, especially those who cultivate consciousness, if you can reach the peak, please do me, Qi Yuan, the favor of helping my Qi family. I don’t ask that they be allowed to return to their former glory, but rather that they merely be allowed to continue.
"I thought that I had let go of my family, but in the end, they’re still what preoccupies my mind at my death.
"No one is to blame for the Qi family’s downfall.
"If I could live again, I would rather live the life of an ordinary human, working the fields at sunrise and resting at sunset. A brief century of mundaneness is far more peaceful than billions of years of glory."
The man then sat down cross-legged, and his body started to slowly fade away. "There’s one more thing that I should mention: Ye Meng isn’t dead. After all, I’m still alive. Don’t underestimate the Thirteen Luminaries and do not underestimate the Consciousness Megaverse. Conscients are not human. Human nature means that we have both good and evil in us, but those creatures have neither. That is what makes them the most terrifying. Goodbye, everyone."
Qi Yuan’s words linger in everyone’s ears.
Lu Yin stared off into the distance from where he stood above Boundless.
Neither good nor evil?
Some distance away, Progenitor Xi’s expression fell. Qi Yuan, even as he died, was still trying to stir things up and push the Tianyuan Megaverse to fight against the Consciousness Megaverse. What an idiot.
As the marshal of the Spirit Nidus’s forces in the Consciousness Megaverse and also as the greatest consciousness cultivator of his time in the Spirit Nidus, Qi Yuan’s words had a tremendous impact on the people of the Spirit Nidus. With his words combined with the current enmity, regardless of whether the Consciousness Megaverse had been pushed into the war, many people from the Spirit Nidus had been killed by conscients. There was a cycle of hatred, and it caused everyone in the Spirit Nidus to foment an unprecedented sense of hostility towards all conscients at this moment.
Lu Yin frowned. He had never underestimated the Consciousness Megaverse. He knew that humans were capable of both kindness and malice, and that conscients were no different. However, if Qi Yuan was correct and conscients truly lacked both benevolence and malevolence, then they were indeed even more terrifying.
Qi Yuan sat in front of Everstone, resonating with the sequence base as his body gradually faded away as he shared his thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the Spirit Nidus.
In the Consciousness Domain, the members of the Qi family were shouting, begging Qi Yuan to not participate in the Everstone Discourse and urging him to return to their family and take charge.
Qi Gong had been taken to the Ascendant Hall, and they knew that he would never return. The Qi family no longer had any strong experts to support them, and the Revolt Alliance no longer cared about the Qi family.
Regardless of his family’s pleading, Qi Yuan proceeded to start his recitation.
As his body transformed into specks of light that scattered across the thirty-six domains, Lu Yin heard the man’s voice and gained insight. His eyes flickered, and he took a step forward. He went to the edge of the Hundred Grasses Domain, facing the direction of the Wisdom Domain, though keeping his eyes closed.
Right after that, the specks of light that had been spreading across the thirty-six domains started to all move towards the Hundred Grasses Domain. They seemed drawn to Lu Yin, in what looked like a whirlpool of light.
Many people saw this. While they grew angry and cursed him, they were helpless to stop him.
Old Yu shook his head. Lord Lu has absolutely no regard for face. He intends to monopolize Qi Yuan’s insights into cultivating consciousness, taking it all with pure strength.
In the past, there had been strong experts capable of doing the same, but no one had ever done so. Doing so was considered too disgraceful. Cultivators still cared about their reputation. Dying to recite the Everstone Discourse was a tremendous sacrifice for the benefit of the entire megaverse, and stealing that sacrifice was something that would be met with nothing but scorn from everyone.
However, Lord Lu did not care about that. He had already proven himself invincible in the Spirit Nidus, and he was also from the Tianyuan Megaverse, which meant that he saw the entire Spirit Nidus as his enemy. This person cared nothing about face or reputation, and he only sought benefits.
Qi Yuan looked in the direction of the Hundred Grasses Domain. "Lord Lu?"
Lu Yin opened his eyes, but he stayed silent.
"My Qi family brought misfortune upon themselves. I have nothing to say about their fate. However, may I ask that you, in consideration of my recitation, give the Qi family the chance to endure?" Qi Yuan’s voice comes.
Lu Yin coldly retorted, "The lives of ants are not my concern."
Qi Yuan nodded. "Thank you."
The old man’s body soon vanished entirely.
Lu Yin stared out at the stars. Suddenly, his eyes flared, and his consciousness erupted with a scream. At this moment, his consciousness was incredibly pure. If he were to fight Wu Wei again, Lu Yin’s consciousness would be able to directly contend with the Thirteen Luminary’s. Lu Yin was no longer behind.
His consciousness had truly reached the Universe level, and it was no longer a muddled consciousness that only had quantity.
At this moment, Lu Yin’s consciousness had reached a level where he could easily grasp the Skyshearer Millstone or any other consciousness battle technique.
He suddenly thought of Wu Wei’s Heaven's Blade, as that technique had left a deep impression on him.
Qi Yuan died reciting the Everstone Discourse, and the second Ortuser stepped forward. While they were not recognized by any of the weaker cultivators, their appearance created a commotion amongst all the Spirit Ancestors and sequence powerhouses.
The second Ortuser was much more ordinary than Qi Yuan, but that meant that his recitation of the Everstone Discourse would offer greater insights to regular cultivators.
