Stars In His Eyes-Chapter 1797: Sincere Feelings (Part 10)
Thinking back, Chen Ning remembers, even when they held hands for the first time, she shamelessly took the initiative.
However, when she thinks of their first hand-holding, Chen Ning also finds He Da’s reaction particularly amusing. His usually expressionless face suddenly froze, and he stared at her for quite a while. Just when Chen Ning thought he was going to push her away, he suddenly tightened his grip and didn’t let go.
Chen Ning quietly lifted her eyes to look at He Da. Seeing that he had no reaction, she lowered her head again, murmuring, "You haven’t even kissed me."
Her tone carried a slight bit of coyness, with a hint of complaint.
He Da initially thought he misheard and looked down, a little surprised, at the pouting Chen Ning, then made a sound, seeing that Chen Ning didn’t speak further, he said, "My brother and Zhilan have a good relationship. My brother is cold outside and warm inside. When he used to interact with Zhilan, he was icy cold. Dad was worried that someone like my brother wouldn’t appeal to Zhilan, but after they got married, my brother gradually changed a lot."
"Oh." Chen Ning responded indifferently, showing little interest in the love story of He Zhilan and He Da, after all, it was someone else’s, not hers.
He Da, noticing Chen Ning’s indifferent reaction, knew she wasn’t interested in discussing his brother too much. Plus, it was about He Da and He Zhilan, so he didn’t intend to elaborate.
Thus, He Da merely raised his hand to rub Chen Ning’s head, worried that her personality might not thrive sitting idle and she might feel the hotel was stuffy, so he said, "It’s still early. How about I take you for a stroll around? And then I’ll escort you to your doorstep."
He Da thought Chen Ning would happily agree. Instead, without even raising her eyelids, she directly refused, "No! You’re going out in such a condition? Always acting recklessly and not resting well!"
After a pause, Chen Ning added, "Tomorrow noon, my grandparents will meet you. After lunch, how about I take you to my old school in the afternoon? Do you want to see where I used to study? Middle school or elementary school, your choice!"
"Alright." Though He Da’s response was simple, he felt delighted inside.
Being able to stroll around her former school would certainly be nice.
He still remembers what Chen Ning was like during her school days! Like a flower in bloom, a youthful girl walking with confidence.
Hearing that, Chen Ning inevitably perked up again, "In elementary school, I was the notorious mischievous king of our school. I’ve climbed many of the trees there, you know? My cousin was so bad, he tricked me into believing that flower nectar was tasty. I even foolishly followed his instructions and wreaked havoc on the school’s flower beds. Later, the chubby school principal caught me in the act and called my parents. He even helped me find someone to pose as my parent to muddle through, but not long after during a parent meeting, the act fell apart. When dad got home, he smacked my palms ten times, it hurt so much, also made me stand facing the wall for two hours, I’ll remember that for the rest of my life!"
While Chen Ning spoke, He Da listened quietly, not interrupting, though he often chuckled softly at her words.
In their interactions, most of the time, Chen Ning was chatty while he was accustomed to listening, yet He Da really enjoyed listening to Chen Ning talk, watching her energetic face. He could almost imagine how pure and adorable she was at that time.
Not until after nine o’clock did He Da suggest sending Chen Ning back. Despite being reluctant to end their time together, Chen Ning was, after all, a girl, and staying alone with him past nine wasn’t ideal, especially if the elders found out.
Chen Ning didn’t want He Da to go back and forth, but He Da insisted on escorting her to the door, refusing to leave otherwise. Unable to argue further, Chen Ning had to agree to let He Da, leaning on his crutch, escort her.
From nine walking to Chen Ning’s maternal home was only a fifteen-minute stroll, which was inconveniently fast, making Chen Ning slightly annoyed.
