Starting Cultivation During a Trip-Chapter 253 - 151: Primordial Spirit’s Warning! Daoist Divine Techniques, Rejuvenation (5k-word - ) (2)
"Who are you? Put your hands on your head and get out of the car, now!"
The man in the lead held up a talisman, pointing at Zhang Fan and barking a harsh warning.
"Shit... are you seriously treating me like some criminal?"
Zhang Fan curled his lip but, still cooperative, opened the car door.
"I told you to put your hands on your head and get out—what the hell are you doing?"
Suddenly, as if triggered, the leader’s True Yang surged endlessly, pouring directly into the talisman in his hand. A scalding scarlet flame slowly rose up, taking the shape of an arrow.
"How the fuck am I supposed to get out with my hands on my head?" Zhang Fan’s eye twitched as he couldn’t help but curse back.
"What, you want me to crawl out?"
"Still arguing?" The leader’s face went sharp, ready to take action.
"Enough."
Just then, a stern voice cut through the darkness. A large hand landed on the leader’s wrist, snuffing out the talisman before he could activate it.
"Group Leader Chun Sheng."
The leading man saw who it was, immediately straightening up and speaking with respect.
"One of our own."
Sui Chunsheng glanced at Zhang Fan, raised a hand as a signal, and then ordered everyone else to back off.
"It’s alright now."
Sui Chunsheng looked Zhang Fan over. Though a bit surprised, he still greeted him.
"Seriously, your law enforcement style is robotic as hell. No sense of boundary, no warmth, nothing?"
Zhang Fan raised an eyebrow and shot a fierce glare at the man who’d just tried to bluff him.
"You’re right. Some of our people these days, all about appearances, never about method."
Sui Chunsheng nodded, eyes coldly sweeping over the recently encircling crowd as he continued in a low, commanding tone.
"Don’t forget, we’re Daoists of the people!"
Hearing this, Zhang Fan couldn’t help but give Sui Chunsheng another look. Not counting cultivation, just this attitude alone, Chun Sheng was bound to have a bright future in the Daoist Alliance.
"So what are you doing here?"
Sui Chunsheng turned around to Zhang Fan, his words tinged with suspicion.
The Daoist Alliance had a critical mission tonight. Though Sui Chunsheng had given Zhang Fan a heads-up before, saying they might ask for his help in the future,
this operation was especially secretive—participants weren’t even notified until half an hour before departure.
So running into Zhang Fan here forced even Sui Chunsheng to ask a few more questions. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I was cultivating at home but sensed something weird going on over here, so I came to check it out," Zhang Fan replied offhandedly.
What he said was actually the truth.
"Pretty sharp senses," Sui Chunsheng gave him a meaningful look, then said, "Since you’re here, you might as well stay and lend a hand."
Whether Zhang Fan was telling the truth or not—since he was mixed up in this, he couldn’t be let go. If anything slipped, Chun Sheng would have to take the fall.
"What’s going on here, anyway?" Zhang Fan pressed him.
"You’re a disciple of Zhenwu Mountain, perfect to stay as a witness. That way there’s no confusion later,"
Sui Chunsheng said gravely, "Tonight our mission is to arrest Meng Qingtong."
"The owner of Match-3 Puzzle? He did something?"
Zhang Fan was stunned. He had a hunch that the recent weirdness was connected to this guy—his Primordial Spirit warning him just how serious the danger was.
"Remember I told you Ma Buting’s senior sister came to Yujing City?" Sui Chunsheng abruptly shifted topics.
"Yeah," Zhang Fan nodded.
Ma Buting’s Agarwood was brought over by that senior sister. Thanks to it, he broke through to the High Skill rank.
"She came following clues and a mission—to hunt for a precious treasure lost by the Daoist Alliance," Sui Chunsheng said in a low voice.
"A treasure? What treasure?" Zhang Fan pressed on, curious.
"It was found in a village at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain, in Qinxi Province..." Sui Chunsheng spoke, his tone tense.
First, livestock and poultry in the local villagers’ homes kept disappearing. They thought it was just the work of wild beasts from the mountains. Later, someone discovered something strange with an old cow at one villager’s home.
The old cow suddenly became terrifyingly strong, especially at night. Someone even saw it swallow a pony whole, alive and kicking.
The incident startled Zhongnan Mountain’s Daoists. At first, they thought the cow had turned into a spirit monster, but after killing it, they realized the mutation happened because it swallowed a piece of tile.
"A tile!?" Zhang Fan froze for a moment.
"It was just an inanimate object, but Zhongnan Mountain is one of the Ten Great Taoist Sects under heaven. After their experts studied it, they confirmed that thing is..." Sui Chunsheng paused, eyes growing grave.
"What is it?"
"Three Corpses Primordial Pill!"
"Huh? That tile was a Three Corpses Primordial Pill?" Zhang Fan couldn’t help making a strange face.
The Three Corpses Primordial Pill was a special object refined by the Three Corpses Daoist using the Minor Divinity Splitting Technique—it’s like a backup Primordial Spirit, with no consciousness, just an inert thing.
Zhang Fan always thought it was just an elixir pill or something.
"A Three Corpses Primordial Pill can be anything, it has no fixed shape," Sui Chunsheng said with a serious face.
"Unless it’s activated, it’s just a dead object. Only when it encounters a Primordial Spirit can it possibly be awakened."
A newly activated Three Corpses Primordial Pill still doesn’t have consciousness, but the person who possesses it can acquire special power. Especially since it contains the memories and experience of the Three Corpses Daoist—even gaining one part in ten thousand is a priceless fortune.
"In theory, once it’s revived, that thing has a chance to grow and transform into a new Primordial Spirit," Sui Chunsheng said.
"And if it can sense other backup Three Corpses Primordial Pills and devour or fuse them, the transformation process speeds up a lot."
Sui Chunsheng’s expression turned ugly.
Normally, a Three Corpses Primordial Pill is just a backup Primordial Spirit. If the original is destroyed, only under specific conditions could this thing possibly revive and even then, for it to slowly become a new Primordial Spirit would take at least a hundred years.
