Starting Cultivation in Wasteland-Chapter 637 - 507: Adventurer
Qu Jianlei could tell that Camille was deliberately piquing his curiosity, so he said nothing and just looked at her calmly.
"You..." Camille wanted to say he was really boring, but thinking about his methods, she kept that to herself.
She shook her head helplessly, "Cyan Blade Commerce Association... this free piece of information really is worth it."
"Cyan Blade Commerce Association?" Qu Jianlei furrowed his brow.
Although he hadn't been away from the Garbage Star for long, he had heard of this name, but he just couldn't recall it at the moment.
However, since the other party believed he had a team behind him, it wasn't convenient for him to ask for details, so he just chuckled awkwardly.
Normally, he could let Xiao Hu search for this association, but... better not for now.
If someone could detect the existence of Xiao Hu, it would be a bit dangerous to use it carelessly, especially considering how sinister the Scavengers were.
He decided to get through this moment first and investigate slowly after returning.
Seeing his furrowed brow, Camille thought he was surprised by such a powerful opponent.
"Does your head ache now? That guy is really hard to deal with, and the Scavengers suffered heavy losses dealing with him."
This news surprised Qu Jianlei quite a bit. He looked at her in astonishment, "Don't tell me you guys can't retaliate."
The Scavengers aren't just a power; they're a profession. How many capable people would the entire Imperial Scavengers have?
"There was a big battle," Camille, not expecting to be mocked, could only explain sulkily.
"The battle lasted over a decade, and they finally accepted mediation, retreating back to the Blade Star Realm."
The Blade Star Realm... Qu Jianlei remembered, it was also a border region, rumored to be relatively chaotic.
But he wasn't sure just how chaotic it was; interstellar information was always tightly controlled by the Imperial.
However, if the Cyan Blade Commerce Association originated from the Blade Star Realm, he could understand their difficulty a bit.
He racked his memory, then asked with a furrowed brow, "Was there a Scavenger betrayal?"
Loyalty and betrayal are eternal topics, and he believed the members of the Scavengers were no exception.
"Isn't that normal?" Camille replied sullenly, "How much do you know about that matter?"
"What could I know?" Qu Jianlei answered nonchalantly, "Your intelligence network is far better than mine."
Camille looked at him deeply and then shook her head slightly.
"Never mind, it's all in the past, even if you know something, it doesn't matter anymore."
"But even now, the Scavengers are still offering bounties for certain people. If you know anything, you could earn our friendship."
Your friendship? Qu Jianlei thought for a moment and then shook his head, "Haha, I think keeping my distance is best."
The Scavengers easily reminded him of some of the special operations agencies on Blue Star, dealing with them could easily set oneself on fire.
"Suit yourself," Camille shook her head. Having become a Scavenger herself, she knew how others viewed them.
Seeing she had stopped speaking, Qu Jianlei asked again, "What about related information?"
"What information?" Camille looked at him in surprise, "I've already told you what the organization is, what else do you want me to say?"
Qu Jianlei looked at her helplessly, "A list of members and related materials... isn't that how you provide information?"
Camille frowned, "You could get that yourselves, and now you want me to provide it?"
Seeing his gaze, she nodded sulkily, "Fine, give me half an hour."
Qu Jianlei, half amused, half exasperated, retorted, "Are you scared or what?"
Camille glared at him without answering, swaying her hips as she left.
This time she left and didn't return until half an hour later.
Seeing Qu Jianlei sipping his drink, she walked over and sat down, discreetly extending a hand under the bar.
In her soft palm was a small button.
Such actions between unfamiliar superpower warriors were incredibly dangerous; if one decided to act, it would be a real surprise attack.
Which is to say, this behavior demonstrated a significant level of mutual trust.
Qu Jianlei, lids lowered, took the button and pocketed it naturally while sipping his drink.
He hadn't put down his glass when a drunk stumbled by, legs giving way, colliding directly with him.
Qu Jianlei swayed, ghostly slipping to Camille's other side.
The drunk lost his balance, arms flailing wildly, seemingly about to grab Camille.
Camille was seated on a stool, but she kicked out like lightning, "Scram!"
The drunk took the kick solidly, his whole body flying out, eliciting screams from the crowd.
This was the daily life at the "Adventurer's House", where fights were all too common.
Camille ignored the commotion and instead shot Qu Jianlei a sideways glance, "Nice job!"
She was annoyed that he'd used her as a shield.
Qu Jianlei smiled indifferently, "Had a bit too much to drink, dodged instinctively, not like it was any trouble for you, right?"
Camille wore an unhappy expression, let out a cold snort, "I've also had quite a bit to drink and said I'd leave with you in half an hour."
Qu Jianlei hesitated for a moment, then laughed, "I have something to do in half an hour, you go by yourself."
As the two were chatting, the drunkard's two companions came over aggressively, "Damn it, are you looking for trouble?"
Camille completely ignored the two and looked at Qu Jianlei with interest, "What about now?"
"Now," Qu Jianlei nodded, the next moment his body shifted, and a bright knife flashed.
Almost simultaneously, Camille's body also shifted, and a nearly invisible gray light flashed.
Then, there was a light "splat," and a rain of blood poured down from the air.
Both drew their blades together, but Camille, being a scavenger, had a gray matte coating on her blade, not easily noticed by the average person.
After the two strikes, two heads flew off, but the lighting in the bar was too dim for people further away to see.
What mattered was the blood spraying from the two necks that splattered onto others.
Camille casually sheathed her blade, while Qu Jianlei's body flashed again, the blade's light reappearing.
This time, however, the opponent was prepared, directly kicking a woman to fly towards the shining blade.
The woman screamed at the top of her lungs, even overpowering the deafening sound of the speakers.
But Qu Jianlei flipped his wrist, using the flat of the blade to strike the woman, while his other hand reached for the laser pistol at his waist.
A blue flash, incredibly fast, hit the man who kicked the woman.
The laser struck his chest, the man's body trembled and staggered back, clearly wearing some protective gear.
Yet it was still too slow, Qu Jianlei's body flashed once more, the blade's light swept past again, and a head flew up.
"Let's go!" Camille whistled, both moving together, disappearing mysteriously from everyone's sight.
"Murder!" someone finally screamed in horror, the scene descending into chaos.
The drunk and his two companions were scared stiff, the alcohol instantly turning into cold sweat as they collapsed to the ground.
Fights frequently broke out at the Adventurer's House, but killing on the spot... only happened two or three times a year.
The point was, this time three people were killed at once, definitely a very serious incident.
Customers in the bar enjoyed the excitement, but seeing a head fly right off by their side was just too shocking.
While mayhem ensued inside, Qu Jianlei and Camille had already slipped through the side door into the parking lot.
They didn't leave, instead hiding behind a wall, looking around cautiously.
Qu Jianlei muttered under his breath, "This is all because of you."
"Isn't it because I was helping you find information?" Camille reached out, "Give me your laser pistol."
Qu Jianlei glanced at her dress, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
Camille's build was somewhat sturdy, fitting the Imperial beauty standard, considered at least slightly plump on Blue Star.
Yet she wore a miniskirt, presumably thinking her legs looked relatively slender.
However, what Qu Jianlei focused on was not that; he was concerned with the small gun on the inside of her thigh.
No need to see, just a little perception would do.
Camille rolled her eyes at him, explaining irritably, "You have a Storage Talisman, I don't! I don't believe you only have one gun."
Qu Jianlei tossed her the gun and then reached out to take out a long blade.
Just then, someone came running quickly, Camille spoke hurriedly, "It's an acquaintance!"
The scavengers had been operating in Fengrao City for quite some time; a place like the Adventurer's House, how could they not have insiders?
The person who came running was a C-level Warrior, who arrived with a wry smile, "Sir, this has nothing to do with us."
"I didn't say it was related to you," Camille waved impatiently, "Anyone can come to this place." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
The Adventurer's House was always a mixed bag of individuals, not the scavenger's business, she had no reason to hold them accountable.
The C-level Warrior hesitated for a moment and spoke again, "But sir, three people died... the City Guard will definitely investigate."
He knew Camille's identity – even if it was only on the surface, but about that man, he really had no idea.
"Handle it yourself," Camille responded without hesitation, "Do I need to give you a face?"
This was the scavenger's usual approach, she knew well that Panda had credentials, if shown, even the City Guard couldn't pursue them.
But she certainly wouldn't reveal that to him – as long as you know not to provoke us, I won't explain further.
The C-level Warrior trembled slightly in fear, knowing full well that this woman, though beautiful, was absolutely ruthless when she acted.
The most crucial part was that she was A-level; there was no point in resisting.
Thinking it over, he asked, "Are you... continuing with this tonight?"
"It's not your place to ask me!" Camille responded without hesitation, "Get your supervisor over here!"
"The supervisor is calming everyone down," the C-level Warrior stammered as he explained before turning and running off, "I'll go right now."
Camille turned her head to look at Qu Jianlei, "I didn't notice the third one... how did you perceive it?"
