Starting My Cultivation With Time Management-Chapter 921 - 61 Qi Yingzhu Questions Long Long
Chapter 921 -61 Qi Yingzhu Questions Long Long
Looking for me? What for?
Long Long instinctively had a bad feeling and wanted to bolt right away.
If he were alone at this moment, running off would be no big deal; but with Long Hu by his side, it didn’t seem viable to take her with him. So, he could only probe and ask:
“May I ask this… friend from the Fox Clan, haven’t we never met before?”
“Of course, we’ve never met.” The other’s eyes flickered with a flash of well-concealed disdain.
Although discreet, that disdain did not escape Long Long’s discerning eye. Immediately, he realized that the real one looking for him was not the person in front of him.
If he refused now, there was no guarantee that the other wouldn’t find someone else to come… Fine, might as well go and see.
After exchanging a glance with Long Hu for a moment, the two decided it was better to figure out who this person truly was before making further responses.
If things got really out of hand, they could always invoke the name of Elder Hu Li.
Following the Fox Lady, the pair arrived at a certain highland.
And there, they saw Qi Yingzhu sitting among a group of Fox Ladies, laughing and chatting.
Long Long: ………
Long Hu: ………
Where did this little tiger come from?
Long Hu was momentarily startled, fearing their identities had been discovered by the Fox Clan and reported to the White Tiger Clan.
Long Long, of course, considered the same possibility. However, with his greater experience, he quickly realized that if the White Tiger Clan had truly uncovered his identity, it wouldn’t be Qi Yingzhu coming alone—it would be the White Tiger Clan Leader, accompanied by the White Tiger Divine General, or even the White Tiger Ancestor personally paying a visit.
Otherwise, how could they demonstrate proper courtesy and tact? Even if they lusted after my body, the girl’s elders or family should roll out the red carpet, right?
Thinking this, Long Long became almost certain that the individual had merely happened upon them and likely hadn’t discovered their true identities.
Thus, steadying his nerves slightly, Long Long calmly greeted and said:
“Greetings, esteemed one.”
“Oh?” Qi Yingzhu, indeed not recognizing him, nodded and asked, “You know me?”
“I’ve not had the honor of meeting you, esteemed one,” Long Long said with a smile, “But your noble charisma, standing out amidst the crowd, is unmistakable.”
The Fox Ladies all cooperated, laughing internally, thinking to themselves that while this Mustela youth came from a lowly bloodline, his flattery was quite adept.
Qi Yingzhu didn’t fall for it, merely laughing as she said:
“Then tell me, what do you think my esteemed identity might be?”
“Uh…” Long Long pondered for a moment as Long Hu grew visibly anxious by his side.
Clearly, if he said something too on point, they’d certainly arouse suspicion; yet if he blindly guessed, it might appear deliberately contrived. A delicate balance was required here.
Long Long, being quite adept at such subtleties, smiled brightly and replied:
“If you’re surrounded by these Fox Ladies, you’re likely from a top-tier family in the West State. Apart from the White Tiger Holy Clan, who else could it be?”
“Look at that; this little mustelid’s rather sharp,” Qi Yingzhu gave a faint smile.
“Hey, she’s praising you!” one Fox Lady taunted Long Long, “Why don’t you quickly offer thanks?”
It’s just one compliment—what’s there to thank for?
Long Long grumbled inwardly, only to hear Qi Yingzhu continue, acting curious:
“Since you’re so clever, why then are you traveling with a member of the Fox Clan?”
“You should know that the divide between your Mustela Clan and the Fox Clan is even wider than between the Fox Clan and us White Tigers.”
“Even if you mutually admire each other…” At this point, Qi Yingzhu paused briefly, glanced at Long Hu, and said, “The Fox Clan wouldn’t permit you two to be together.”
“Esteemed one may have misunderstood something,” Long Long said with an ingratiating smile. “She and I are merely ordinary friends, with nothing… romantic between us.”
Long Hu, troubled, knew their disguised pretenses made it safer to claim friendship rather than romance, yet hearing him say it still left her inexplicably upset.
However, Qi Yingzhu was unconvinced, smiling as she pressed on:
“No romance? Then why spend so much time together, never parting ways?”
“You jest, esteemed one,” Long Long answered humbly yet assertively, “Love isn’t about proximity or constant companionship; rather, even if separated by the ends of the earth, never meeting again, one still holds the other forever in their heart, unable to let go.”
These words rendered Qi Yingzhu and the Fox Ladies speechless.
Sensitive and emotional by nature, the Fox Ladies froze at his response, some murmuring the phrase repeatedly, their eyes clouding with unbidden tears.
Qi Yingzhu, however, was less easily affected, staying silent momentarily before questioning sharply:
“You’re so young—how can you know what love truly means?”
Long Long merely smiled subtly, revealing a nuanced expression that seemed to say, “Those who understand, understand; those who don’t—I wouldn’t know how to explain to you”—not feigning profundity, but acknowledging that further explanation might only yield complications.
Given the tendency for prolonged debating to invoke deeper inquiries, he thought it best to keep things brief and avoid unnecessary elaboration.
Qi Yingzhu, observing his silent smile, felt somewhat deflated, and waved him away, signaling for his departure.
It was precisely what Long Long had anticipated; he respectfully saluted before leading Long Hu to leave.
Watching his decisively nonchalant exit, showing no intention of currying favor, Qi Yingzhu suddenly felt irritated… Wait?
She abruptly realized this wasn’t the first time such a scenario had occurred with another man—this same blend of stalemate, suffocating frustration strikingly familiar.
“Wait a moment!” Qi Yingzhu called out abruptly.
Long Long had no choice but to halt, as she continued:
“I see you possess some wit. Coincidentally, I’ve been troubled with certain matters—perhaps you could help me find an answer.”
“How could a humble soul like me dare address my esteemed one’s questions?” Long Long politely declined.
“No matter,” Qi Yingzhu brushed this off lightly, “I’ll speak casually, and you can reply casually too.”
“I once knew someone, and we were like-minded, mutually connected. Alas, fleeting fortune and cruel twists; our families—mine and his—clashed in war, leaving us no choice but to stand on opposing sides.”
“Though there’s now peace, the relations haven’t improved much. I wish to rekindle our bond, but I fear… Never mind; my concerns are ones you wouldn’t understand.”
“Let me ask you this: if you and this Fox Lady were in love, but your families were mortal enemies, what would you do?”
Long Long thought to himself: What kind of ridiculous question is this? When did we ever become like-minded or mutually connected?
Outwardly, he feigned contemplation before responding:
“If that’s the case, with my limited insight, it’d depend on the positions she and I held within our families.”
“If we were average members, I’d suggest leaving our families behind and heading far away to find a hidden place to reside together.”
“Oh?” Qi Yingzhu asked indifferently, “And what of the families left behind?”
“As mere ordinary members, our absence would hardly matter,” Long Long replied.
“What if you hold significant power, and your families treat you well?” Qi Yingzhu’s tone grew colder.
“Then, I’d naturally face a tough decision between my family and my love,” Long Long tactfully replied.
