Chapter 104: Let Me Regret It

Her head throbbed, aching as if someone had struck her with a hammer. She couldn’t even scream; all she could do was gasp silently, her body trembling in the man’s arms. The pain was sharp but fleeting, and when her vision cleared once more, she realized her cheeks were wet with tears.

"Ah..." A soft, breathless sound escaped her lips, and her gaze slowly lifted to Rhaegar. His jaw was clenched, his expression taut with pain—and strangely, he looked as though he had suffered more than she had.

Strange. Somehow, that kiss brought her comfort and relief as if his lips had healing powers.

It took a moment for Lorelai to find the strength to move, but she managed to raise her hand and gently caress the king’s cheek, just as he had done for her minutes ago.

His jaw relaxed, and his eyes fluttered shut, accepting her soft touch. But then, with a tenderness that surprised her, he turned his head to capture her hand, pressing gentle kisses along the back of it, each kiss lingering as though he were savoring every moment.

Without a word, Rhaegar turned and carefully carried her to the bed, but Lorelai clung to him with a quiet desperation. She didn’t want to be without him. Not now. Not ever.

Rhaegar let out a soft sigh as she held him around the neck like a frightened child. He sat down on the edge of the bed, pulling her into his embrace. They didn’t speak; the only sound was the rhythmic thumping of their hearts, beating in time together.

Lorelai cried softly, her tears flowing freely down her cheeks. She didn’t try to hold them back. After a while, Rhaegar gently wiped them away with the back of his warm hand, brushing her eyelids with soft, tender kisses as though he were trying to soothe the hurt within her.

His affection for her was undeniable, and the princess didn’t want it to end.

"I don’t want to leave you like this, Lorelai." He kissed her forehead softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Reconsider. Come with me. Do you remember what you asked me before? I’ll take responsibility. I will protect you. I will even start a war if it’s necessary. I will, Lorelai. Whatever you want, I will do it. Just say yes. It has to be your decision."

Lorelai parted her trembling lips, but no words came out. Every time she tried to speak the truth, something within her shifted, and the word "yes" died before it could leave her chest.

She couldn’t say it. Her heart, her very being, rebelled against it.

There wasn’t much time left. She could feel it, the ticking of the clock, each moment slipping away. Instead of wasting the little time they had left on painful decisions, it would be better to leave with good memories. The time she had spent with the lycan king had been the happiest of her life.

Just as she had planned, these memories would be hers alone to keep.

But Rhaegar saw through her defenses. He didn’t need to try hard—he simply pushed open the door to her heart, no matter how desperately she tried to shut it.

"You will regret it, Lorelai." The man’s expression hardened, and a deep frown marred his features as frustration bubbled beneath the surface, his blood boiling with the heat of his feelings. "You have no idea... You will regret it, I promise you."

"So be it. Let me regret it, Rhaegar."

Her brief but bold declaration left him momentarily stunned, and for a moment, the princess felt uneasy. She wasn’t used to this—wasn’t sure how to act. But she still tried, awkwardly reaching out to him, her gaze lowering as her lips inched closer to his.

"Everywhere I go," she whispered, her voice barely audible, "everything I do... Make me miss you. Make me regret not choosing you."

Her words, soft yet profound, sent a tremor through his amber eyes, the storm she had ignited evident in his gaze.

"Lorelai..." His voice was fierce now, almost angry as he spoke. "Do you know what a lycan thinks when he hears such things?"

Of course, she already knew.

Rhaegar’s lips twisted into a thin, knowing smile as Lorelai nodded. Only after she had done so did she realize just how shameless her words had sounded.

"You will regret it, Lorelai. I can promise you that."

In a swift, almost predatory motion, he kissed her, but unlike her gentle kiss, his was wild, demanding, and filled with all the unspoken emotions he had kept hidden.

He bit her lower lip, then teased her tongue, rubbing and sucking on it as if savoring the taste. He tortured her sensitive palate, pulling away only when a soft moan escaped her lips. His fingers gently traced over her slightly swollen lips as he gazed down at her, his eyes dark with intensity.

"Never. Never show this side of you to anyone, princess. Even if I’m gone, all of it belongs to me."

Lorelai was left panting breathlessly from his kiss, her chest rising and falling with each shaky breath. She flinched as he gripped her wrist firmly, a tremor running through her body.

"Feel this. Your body is missing me already."

With a commanding motion, he guided her hand to her own breast. The sensation was foreign, and Lorelai hesitated, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as her lips trembled. She had never touched herself like this before, and it felt strange, almost overwhelming.

Her mind raced, unsure of what to do, as their hands moved lower. His hand, still holding hers, guided it over her belly, then between her legs, stopping at a place that only Rhaegar himself had touched before. The air between them thickened with rising heat.

"You said you wanted to regret your choice. That’s fine," he murmured in an almost intoxicating tone. "I will leave you with one last memory of me, one that will keep you desperate for the rest of your life."
