Chapter 62 - Whereabouts

Hearing Song Xiao say that it hurt, Yu Tang was shocked and hurriedly let go. Seeing the red imprint from his grip, which was turning purple on that pale wrist, he immediately felt his heart hurt, and he held Song Xiao’s wrist in his hands and gently rubbed it.

After the third rub, Yu Tang finally recalled that he was mad right now… Raising his head to look at Song Xiao, he saw that his eyes were curved with his smile, and Yu Tang sighed helplessly.

“Did something happen in the Yu family?” Song Xiao turned his hand and took Yu Tang’s, pulling him over to sit next to the fountain. After standing for an entire morning, his legs felt sore.

From what he knew, even though America’s law and order weren’t as good as in their country, it wasn’t to the extent that he couldn’t even leave the house. Yu Tang’s behaviour of wanting to constantly tie him to his waistband really was unusual.

As they talked, Dugu An walked over and passed a drink to the emperor before standing on the side with another cup.

Yu Tang gave the drink to Song Xiao. He watched as Song Xiao gulped it down, then opened his mouth. “You already know what the people of the Yu family are like. Even in the modern era, they won’t change.”

The Yu family’s current head was Yu Tang’s grandfather, but the position of clan head wasn’t limited to direct bloodline. Yu Fu’s brothers, cousins, and even their sons… Fundamentally, the Yu family was all bold and ruthless. They all wanted to fight, regardless of whether they had the skill or not.

Ever since Yu Tang arrived in the US, he had been sounded out from all sides and tailed, and never had a moment’s rest.

In fact, if he really wanted to protect Song Xiao, the best way to do so was to treat him as a normal classmate; as long as their relationship was the slightest bit intimate, they wouldn’t be able to avoid drawing attention. Modern society wasn’t the same as in Great Yu. Surveillance technology was too advanced, and many things couldn’t be concealed at all. If they feigned disaffection and something happened that was beyond Yu Tang’s control, then it was better to just protect Song Xiao firmly from the beginning.

Song Xiao understood Yu Tang’s thinking, and sipped his drink. “But I can’t always stay by your side.”

“At the very least, you must make sure your phone isn’t off. When I call, you must answer immediately.” As Yu Tang spoke, he took the drink in Song Xiao’s hand and had a sip.

Song Xiao blinked and looked up at Dugu An. The loyal secret guard had already finished the other cup, and with a swing of his arm, the empty cup was tossed into a trash can over ten meters away.

Upon returning to the villa that night, a servant passed an express delivery letter to Yu Tang. He opened it to find a black and gold card inside, which required him to personally activate it at a counter.

Yu Tang sat on the sofa, turning the card over in his hands. After a moment of pondering, he picked up the phone next to him.

This phone call was to the main Yu family residence in Luo City, and the housekeeper helped connect him to the study.

“Grandpa, I received a black and gold card.” Yu Tang was reclining casually on the sofa, but his tone was solemn and respectful.

“En, it’s the allowance grandpa is giving you.” There was some delighted laughter on the other end. “Come back this weekend; grandpa wants to introduce some people to you.”

“Yes,” Yu Tang obediently replied, and chatted a little more before hanging up.

When Song Xiao returned to his dorm, his roommate hadn’t returned yet. So, he went for a shower before sitting on his bed and chatting with his father for a while via the laptop.

Because of the time difference, it wasn’t convenient to call every day. Thus, Song Zicheng learnt how to use the chat app often used by youngsters, and frequently left messages for Song Xiao. When Song Xiao saw them, he would reply.

As they were speaking, a dialogue box from Yu Tang popped up on the computer.

【 The procedure to attend as a day student will be completed tomorrow. Next week, you can move in with me. 】 There was no room for discussion in the simple and plain words.

【 Aren’t we forbidden to live outside the dorm during the first semester? 】 Song Xiao’s head was full of question marks. Furthermore, he had never submitted a day student procedure.

As he was texting, there was a sound at the door. Gao Ao had returned, a few books in hand. After tidying up a bit, he sat down and began to read. Shooting a glance at Song Xiao, who was playing with the laptop, he snorted coldly. “Are the assignments for your major so easy?”

Head lowered, Song Xiao continued talking to Yu Tang as he replied casually, “They’re not bad.” Today, he had finished reading all the books as assigned by his lecturer. To read and memorise was very tiring, but fortunately, what the lecturer wanted them to do was finish reading the books and comprehend them, not memorise them. This was much easier for Song Xiao to do, and after he was done with the ten books, he came back to the dorm.

It was quiet for a while in the room, then Gao Ao opened his mouth again. “You went to the Angels Club today?”

Song Xiao paused in his typing as he raised his head to look at Gao Ao with slightly narrowed eyes. “You’re interested in the Angels Club?”

Gao Ao was taken aback for a moment, then lowered his head to look at his book. “Next time, it’s best if you tell me when you’re going somewhere. If I forget my keys, I can go look for you.”

“I am not obliged to report my whereabouts to you.” Song Xiao spoke slowly, and emphasised “whereabouts”. He watched as Gao Ao obviously stiffened.

【 My roommate seems to be monitoring my whereabouts. 】 Song Xiao typed out a sentence and sent it to Yu Tang.

Yu Tang was silent for a couple of minutes, then tapped out a response. 【 I’ll have someone investigate. 】

Yu Tang initially planned to have Song Xiao stay at school while he was away in Luo City over the weekend, but once he knew about this issue with Song Xiao’s roommate, he couldn’t feel reassured, no matter what. Immediately, he called Song Xiao and said that he wanted to bring him to Luo City to watch a ball game on the weekend.

“Ball game!” Song Xiao’s eyes brightened. He quite liked basketball, and naturally knew about America’s professional basketball matches. Luo City had two teams; both were very good, and Song Xiao liked one of them in particular.

After Song Xiao hung up, he began to check out tickets online. Gao Ao, who had just finished washing up, saw this and snorted, and seemed to be very disdainful of Song Xiao’s constant behaviour of wanting to have fun.

Actually, Song Xiao didn’t need to book tickets at all, as Yu Tang had Dugu An buy them already.

Luo City was a very advanced city which dazzled with colour. Young Chinese who were starting out would come here, and Luo City’s Chinatown was also America’s oldest Chinatown. The Yu family’s ancestral residence was in Luo City, and now that Yu Tang had come to America, the Yu family head wanted to introduce this grandson of his to everyone as soon as possible.

Yu Tang got Song Xiao settled at the hotel, then changed his clothes and left for the Yu family’s old residence.
