Story Breaker-Chapter 15: Awakening

When I awoke and opened my eyes, I was suddenly blinded by the sun. I quickly got up from the tree I was lying against and noticed my wounds were completely healed from the previous battle. 'I'm going to assume Yoon Harin used a healing vial on me...'

'Ugh, it's bright...'

I quickly adjusted to the new lighting and the area around me. Looking down from the hill, I noticed Yoon Harin speaking to a platinum-haired man with red eyes next to her. Around them were multiple corpses of calamities that covered the ground. The grass around them and their uniforms were stained in many different colors of blood.

'Who's that?'

I stared at them for a moment, still confused about what was going on.

'What the hell did I wake up to...'

I scratched the back of my head while sighing. Then, remembering the rewards I got from the mission I finished, I opened the salvation system and checked my stats.

I closed the screen and walked down the hill to Yoon Harin, who had an annoyed expression and was glaring at the stranger next to her, who was now on his knees with his arms raised in the air while having a look of guilt on his face.

Yoon Harin noticed me coming down the hill. "Oh, seems you finally woke up, Kim Taejune."

"Yeah... uhm... So who's he?..."

Yoon Harin sighed. "This is Arthur Corvin, an idiot who continuously grabbed the aggro of nearby calamities and fought and killed them with me for around an hour maybe? I'm not really sure I lost track of the time..."

I stared at Yoon Harin and then back at Arthur Corvin. "Okay....."

'I shouldn't ask her any questions right now, she looks pissed as hell...'

I quickly checked the time limit for the second wave while we all just there stayed in place awkwardly.

'Oh..'

Trying to break the mood, I spoke up. "Hey... So should we just wait here till the final wave starts? It's like 20-ish seconds away."

Yoon Harin glared at Arthur for a moment, then sighed while picking up Eldrin's blade. "Tsk, yeah sure..."

'Noted, don't make Yoon Harin pissed off... She looks like she's gonna kill someone...'

Yoon Harin looked at Arthur. "Hey Arthur, you can get up now... Pick up your damn sword; let's get ready for the third wave..."

Arthur stayed silent while hesitantly getting up from his position while still having the same look of guilt on his face. He picked up his silver and black-colored blade off the ground and quickly sheathed it.

'Seriously, what happened when I was unconscious?!'

Suddenly, a screen appeared in front of me notifying me about saving people.

'He most likely got eliminated because he didn't have a weapon... Thank God he won't be at Eden...'

Then, a moment after I got that notification, another screen appeared in front of me. I glanced around for a moment and noticed Yoon Harin and Arthur Corvin had both revived the same screen.

'Wait, one calamity? Against around what like 10,900 cadets?... Normally, when stuff like this happens, it's-'

My thought was cut off as we were suddenly transported into a massive arena as I quickly looked around noticing the other cadets around me with the same look of confusion and then I saw it.

In the center of the arena was a massive creature as tall as a skyscraper. Its body was extremely skinny, made up of black tendrils, on its back was a torn dark crimson cape that reached the ground.

On its chest, it had multiple red eyes, and over its face was a white mask stained with blood, with black lines going across it.

Its mask had two massive eyeholes through which white glowing eyes could be seen and as it stared down at me and the other cadets, its eyes piercing the my soul.

Its two arms were made from thousands of tendrils wrapped tightly against each other, with massive jaws splitting off from its claws that had crooked yellow fangs stained with dried blood.

Its massive claws were long and sharp that reached the ground, staining it with a strange grayish substance.

Its legs were only skin and bone, and its long hind legs had multiple spikes protruding from them, the same goes for its feet

Its body emitted a sense of absolute dread across the arena that affected everyone.

'Oh fuck...'

A timer suddenly appeared in the sky above the arena, slowly counting down from ten.
