Stranger Danger-Chapter 1322: The Celestial Sovereign Dies, A Long Grudge Is Laid To Rest
Chapter 1322: The Celestial Sovereign Dies, A Long Grudge Is Laid To Rest
An entire teatime later, after Xuanyuan Xin had finally had her fill, she waved her hand and caused the sea of blood to squeeze around Xuanyuan Kun like a sponge. It trapped him and immobilized him completely.
“Xuanyuan Xin! I am your brother! We are twins born from the same womb!”
Seeing that there was no hope for him to escape, Xuanyuan Kun shouted, “You cannot kill me!”
“Yes, we are brother and sister...”
Xuanyuan Xin took one step forward and appeared in front of Xuanyuan Kun. She then brushed her hand against his face while asking him, “Do you remember what you promised me when we were still children?”
“You promised me that we would never be separate. That we would always be together.”
“I remember. Of course I remember!” Xuanyuan Kun nodded in a hurry. “I admit it was my mistake, sister. I did all those inhumane things all because I was hoodwinked by those nasty, nasty villains. I’m sorry I wronged you, Xin’er. Can you please forgive me?”
“Xin’er?” Xuanyuan Xin looked wistful. “How long has it been since you called me Xin’er? A couple thousand years at least, right?”
Sensing an opportunity, Xuanyuan Kun continued to appeal to Xuanyuan Xin’s emotions, “I promise you I will make up for everything I did in the future, so can we please be together again?”
Wait a second. This isn’t going to turn into a tearful reunion, is it?
Some distance away, Ye Qing was frowning with a bit of worry. This was not how he thought things would turn out to be.
“Of course. From now on, we will be together forever.”
A wonderful smile bloomed on Xuanyuan Xin’s face, but what came from Xuanyuan Kun was...
“Aaaarghhhhhhhh!!!”
... A bloodcurdling scream. It was because Xuanyuan Xin had ripped off one of Xuanyuan Kun’s arms and swallowed it into her stomach.
“What are you doing, Xuanyuan Xin?” Xuanyuan Kun exclaimed in shock and horror.
“Eating you, of course!” Xuanyuan Xin answered matter-of-factly. “Once you’re inside my stomach, we’ll never, ever be separated again. Don’t you agree, brother?”
“No, Xuanyuan Xin! N—AHHHHHHHHHH!!!”
Xuanyuan Kun wanted to say something more, but Xuanyuan Xin was beyond hearing at this point. She ripped off his left arm next and devoured it as well.
“Let us be together forever, brother!”
Seven silhouettes appeared all around Xuanyuan Kun after she said this. Then, they pounced on top of Xuanyuan Kun as well.
“Ahhh! Xuanyuan Xin... you can’t do this to me... you can’t... ahh... Xin’er, stop... I beg you...”
Xuanyuan Kun screamed and screamed, but it was futile. As if they had gone completely bonkers, Xuanyuan Xin and the seven figures ripped, tore, and chewed into Xuanyuan Kun.
In just the blink of an eye, Xuanyuan Kun had been devoured from head to toe. They did not leave even a single bone behind.
“Holy...”
Ye Qing could not help but gasp at this sight. This was a little too much, innit?
He was even starting to regret inviting Xuanyuan Xin to White Bone Monastery. This woman was so crazy that she even ate her own brother. What if she didn’t snap out of it and attack him as well?
That’s right. Ye Qing was the one who invited Xuanyuan Xin.
When Ye Qing deduced that Xuanyuan Kun was still alive, he figured that Xuanyuan Xin was still alive as well. Not only that, he was almost certain that she was colluding with Jiang Yunlai of West Kunlun.
It wasn’t a baseless assumption either. He had circumstantial evidence to support his theory.
One, Xuanyuan Xin was a celestial. If Xuanyuan Kun was alive, then it stood to reason that Xuanyuan Xin was alive as well.
Two, the main reason Jiang Yunlai and his fellow Sages entered the Kunlun Ruins was to seek out a cure to their bloodline curse. Naturally, Xuanyuan Kun and Xuanyuan Xin were critical to their salvation.
If Xuanyuan Xin was already dead, then the East and West Kunlun would have done everything in their power to stop Xiahou Zun, Wan Lingxiao and Long-browed Divine Monk from killing Xuanyuan Kun after news of his survival had spread to the jianghu. In reality, they hadn’t so much as made a peep.
There was only one answer then. Xuanyuan Xin must still be alive, and she must be with them.
Actually, there was another possibility. It was possible that they had found a way to resolve the bloodline curse in the Kunlun Ruins and so did not need to seek out the celestials.
It wasn’t a likely possibility though.
Either way, Ye Qing strongly believed Xuanyuan Xin was still alive. His guess was proven correct later.
There were two main reasons why he invited Xuanyuan Xin into his scheme. One, he didn’t know Xuanyuan Xin as a person and so could not guess what she was thinking. Yes, there was no one who wanted Xuanyuan Kun dead more than her. However, what would she think if he “stole” her kill? Would she be happy that he had taken out her sworn enemy for her, or would she be enraged that she did not get the opportunity to resolve her vengeance with her own two hands?
It wasn’t impossible that she might choose to take out her anger on him.
Even if that wasn’t the case, Xuanyuan Xin might suspect that Xuanyuan Kun had implanted some sort of resurrection method inside him. She might also suspect that he had arrived with some sort of agreement with Xuanyuan Kun and faked his death.
She might just think that killing him was the only way to be sure.
These were possibilities he couldn’t not account for.
That was why he arrived at the conclusion of allowing Xuanyuan Xin murder Xuanyuan Kun herself.
Two, he had had a, ah, minor disagreement with Jiang Yunlai of West Kunlun. There was no telling if the Sage might choose to settle the score with him in the future.
Luckily, it so happened he had exactly the right tool he needed to resolve this: Xuanyuan Kun.
Xuanyuan Xin wanted Xuanyuan Kun dead. Assuming she was still alive, she must have come to some sort of agreement with Jiang Yunlai. It wasn’t difficult to deduce that Xuanyuan Kun’s fate must be part of the agreement.
So, by leaving Xuanyuan Kun to Xuanyuan Xin, he was doing Jiang Yunlai a huge favor. He believed that this would be enough to cancel out their earlier grievances.
That was why he had sent Papersmith to West Kunlun after recruiting the Sage. With Xuanyuan Kun as the bargaining chip, and a Sage to back him up, the negotiations had proceeded as smooth as butter.
And so, they arrived at this point. Xuanyuan Xin had eaten Xuanyuan Kun alive.
“Hahaha... you’re finally dead, Xuanyuan Kun! You’re finally dead... hahaha...”
Xuanyuan Xin laughed at the top of her lungs after devouring Xuanyuan Kun to the last. Her laughter kept alternating between old, young, male and female, but they all sounded beyond ecstatic and relieved. It was the kind of release that one could only get after resolving a deep-seated grudge that had lasted for over thousands of years.
The laughter would continue for a dozen more breaths before the seven figures slowly vanished into nothing. The madness possessing Xuanyuan Xin also subsided until the celestial returned to her previous regal demeanor. Honestly, she looked like a completely different person from who she was before.
“Warrior Ye, I sincerely thank you for what happened today.”
It was at this moment Xuanyuan Xin walked up to Ye Qing and thanked him.
Ye Qing returned the salute and said politely, “You flatter me. Congratulations on fulfilling your vengeance, imperial princess.”
“Yes, my vengeance is finally fulfilled.”
Xuanyuan Xin repeated in an even, indecipherable tone. “I believe I owe you a favor. Is there anything you want as compensation?”
“It is this junior’s honor to be able to assist you, imperial princess. Besides, this junior is simply helping himself. This junior dare not take credit for it,” Ye Qing replied.
“If that is your wish.”
Xuanyuan Xin did not try to force things. “Still, I will remember this favor. If you ever need something from me, do not hesitate to look for me at West Kunlun.”
“Also, consider your grievances with Yunlai and West Kunlun resolved. You have my word that they will not come after you for this matter.”
Ye Qing saluted her again and said, “Thank you, imperial princess.”
“Mm... I’ll be taking my leave then.”
For a few seconds, Xuanyuan Xin just stared at Ye Qing. Then, she turned around and left just like that.
“Until another day, imperial princess.”
Ye Qing would maintain his salute until Xuanyuan Xin was completely gone. Finally, he let out a long, long sigh of relief, looked at the dark sky above his head, and cracked a huge smile of relief.
“It’s finally over... it’s finally, finally, over!”
