Stranger Danger-Chapter 1343: The Buddha In The Sky
Chapter 1343: The Buddha In The Sky
Ye Qing was certain that the danger was floating somewhere in the night sky. He just couldn’t see it.
Now that he thought about it, this was the first time his Yin Yang Spell Eyes failed to identify something.
Ye Qing did not want to stir trouble, so he did not probe more than was necessary. He withdrew his gaze, closed his eyes, and rested.
Obviously, the cold in the room could not affect him in the slightest.
As time passed, the temperature inside the stone room grew colder and colder. It was to the point where the other occupants in the room were almost fully encased in ice. It would not be surprising if they stopped breathing at any moment.
Still, not a single person dared to leave the house or make any noise. It was as if they would rather freeze to death than face the horrors outside.
If the occupants of this house were like this, then the others probably fared no better. Maybe they weren’t contending with the cold, but it had to be some other hell that made them wish they were dead.
And that was the problem. Not everyone could endure such a long period of torture and pain. Some of these people left their houses, and some people unconsciously made a noise.
The second they succumbed, a pitch black, formless, and intangible arm would appear soundlessly behind their back and grab them. Then, it would drag them into the night sky.
It did not matter where the victim was, how many of them made a noise at the same time, or how loud they were being. The arm would always accurately and effortlessly drag them into the night sky at first notice. It was quite terrifying.
This was why the screams were pretty sparse during the first half of the night, but very dense during the second half.
The waves of desperate, horrifying screams painted an even bleaker picture of Void Stomach City.
“Yuhuai! You piece of shit, I’ll destroy you!”
It was at this moment a sorrowful, furious roar echoed throughout the entire night. At the same time, an unbelievably powerful and domineering fist intent shot into the sky, fearless and unstoppable.
Alas, the fist intent disappeared just as quickly. It was like dropping a mud bull into the sea.
The master of the voice seemed to have vanished as well.
“Chief Gu?”
To others, this cry was just another cry of despair and helplessness and madness; just an interlude in the long and terrifying night of Void Stomach City. Ye Qing had a different opinion though.
After all, he recognized that voice. That fist intent was also the fist intent of Break Through.
It could only be Gu Suitang.
Ye Qing abruptly opened his eyes in the darkness. They shone bright and strong like the stars.
The next moment, Ye Qing took one step and flowed in the six places, appearing kilometers away from his original spot in an instant.
At the same time, an arm appeared out of nowhere and made a grab for Ye Qing.
Ye Qing had anticipated this though. He easily sidestepped the grab before dashing toward the area where Gu Suitang’s voice had come from.
Ye Qing’s resistance seemed to anger the Stranger in the darkness, however. More arms reached out from the darkness and swarmed him like spider webs.
Ye Qing danced through them all with inches to spare. His movements were neither nimble nor fast, and yet he seemed unchained by the reality around him. The world was his stepping stone, and the six places accompanied his every move.
He flowed endlessly in the six places, and there was nowhere he couldn’t go. novelbuddy-cσ๓
Although countless arms tried to catch him or block his way, Ye Qing still appeared at Gu Suitang’s last spot in just a couple dozen breaths.
“He’s gone!”
Ye Qing’s demonic thought spanned several kilometers in radius wide. However, he could not find Gu Suitang anywhere. All he sensed was the remnant of Gu Suitang’s Break Through.
He dearly wanted to increase the range of his senses, but he couldn’t.
“It looks like that thing had taken Chief Gu and Yuhuai.”
Ye Qing had anticipated this outcome, of course. He still came because he wanted to be sure and to check if Fang Xiaoman, Chu Nianjiu and other Pacification Bureau personnel were with them.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Gu Suitang and Lin Yuhuai were alone.
Ye Qing was disappointed, but again, he had anticipated this. There was no way Fang Xiaoman would have stood by and done nothing if he was here.
Of course, it was possible that Fang Xiaoman was incapacitated or something. That was why he had to come over and confirm.
Since Fang Xiaoman and the others weren’t here, it was time to focus on rescuing Gui Suitang and Lin Yuhuai.
This time, Ye Qing did not dodge the arms. He allowed them to grab him and pull him into the darkness.
Ye Qing felt the space around him ripple like water as he slipped into infinite, borderless darkness.
At the same time, he felt his strength sealed inside his body. It prevented him from moving a muscle.
An indefinite amount of time later—it could have been an instant an eternity—the arms finally came to a stop. His surroundings looked the exact same as before though: darkness. It was the purest, darkest, and most flawless black.
In the darkness, he could hear screams of fear, despair, and anger. They came in waves and would chill anyone to the core.
If Ye Qing was anyone else, the tragedy of being pulled into a place of absolute darkness with his power sealed inside his body and only the cries of anger and despair to accompany him would undoubtedly amplify his own fear and despair.
However, he was Ye Qing, and he dared to allow the Stranger to kidnap him to whatever this place was like a lamb to the slaughter. Naturally, he was confident he could rip a hole in the tiger’s belly and rescue his friends.
A pair of fishes swam inside Ye Qing’s eyes and manifested the infinite taichi. He began to gain a full picture of the place as the darkness slowly receded.
He saw a Buddha[1]. It was a tall, grand Buddha with a kind, merciful face. He had a thousand arms growing out of his back, and he was sitting cross-legged on a lotus throne.
The disturbing thing was that the Buddha was pitch black in color from head to toe. Only its eyes were as red as blood. The lotus throne was built from countless bodies, and the Buddha itself was overflowing with inauspiciousness, evil, and death.
Right now, the Buddha’s arms were lifting up like a blooming lotus. A person was seated on each palm.
Some of these people were still alive, and some of them were dead. Those alive were clearly the people it had captured a short while ago, and those dead were people it had captured before.
The dead people were sitting cross-legged and pitch black in color except for their red eyes just like the thousand-handed Buddha. They looked eerie and strange.
The still living people could still cry, scream, and taunt the Buddha, but not a single one of them could move. They were also immobilized.
Ye Qing could see their skin slowly turning black in color. Unless he was sorely mistaken, they were going to turn completely pitch black just like the dead people, and the consequence of turning pitch black[2] was, of course, death.
In fact, Ye Qing could feel an evil, tainted energy trying to corrupt his body right now, though the Profound Yellow Mother Qi crushed it as soon as it passed through the skin.
At the same time, Ye Qing finally found who he was looking for: Gu Suitang. It had taken him no effort whatsoever.
1. Author must have beef against Buddhas or something. Like 99% of Ye Qing’s enemies are Buddhas. ☜
2. There is probably a racist joke here somewhere that I shouldn’t make but should make aware of because I’m tricky like that. ☜
