Wei Nandou chuckled. “Besides, I am no match for you, Brother Xiahou!”

“As long as you remember.”

Xiahou Zun did not mince his words. “Others may be afraid of you, but not me.”

“You’re absolutely right,” Wei Nandou continued to respond obsequiously.

“Seeing as your apology is relatively sincere, you can have your son back.”

Xiahou Zun waved his hand, and Wei Nandou’s son flew out of the Four Seas Restaurant.

Yu Shuanglu hurriedly caught her son. When she saw her injuries, her eyes immediately turned murderous and bloodshot.

“If a son is illiterate, it is the father’s fault for not educating him. Do remember to educate yours and teach him not to cause trouble all day and night. It would be too late if you wait until he loses his life, don’t you agree?”

“That is none of your business.”

Yu Shuanglu responded curtly before lifting her son and turning to leave.

“I will remember your teachings, Brother Xiahou.” Wei Nandou saluted Xiahou Zun once more. “I shan’t waste your time any longer. If I have the time to spare in the future, I promise to treat you to a drink and personally offer you an apology!”

“Hell no. What if you poison my drink?”

However, Xiahou Zun rejected his invitation directly and without hesitation.

“Er...”

It was such an abrupt and unusual response that Wei Nandou’s smile faltered for the first time.

Xiahou Zun abruptly barked out in laughter. “Hahaha... it’s just a joke. Don’t take it seriously.”

“You’re a humorous man, Brother Xiahou,” Wei Nandou replied smilingly. One last salute later, the Smiling Tiger finally took his leave.

“Why are you provoking that viper, brother?”

Ye Qing could not help but voice his curiosity after Xiahou Zun returned to the Four Seas Restaurant.

He did not think that Xiahou Zun went so far just to defend them and take revenge for them.

“It’s nothing. I just don’t like him, that’s all.”

Xiahou Zun answered frankly, “That fatty has become increasingly arrogant over the past few years because he was favored by the emperor. It has gotten to the point where he even dared to look down on me. He even screwed over some of the Martial Garrison’s disciples. He is courting death so to speak.”

“If not for the fact that I have no evidence, I would have trampled over his home already. Inside a luxurious carriage with golden carvings and jade etchings not far away from the Four Seas Restaurant, Yu Shuanglu yelled angrily at Wei Nandou.

The yell was immediately followed by a slap so loud and crisp that it could be heard from dozens of meters away.

However, no one heard it. It was because there was no one around the carriage. In fact, there wasn’t a single soul on the street.

Wei Nandou said, though his voice was not nearly as amiable and humble as it sounded when he was speaking to Xiahou Zun. Instead, it was as cold as a rock and as insidious as a viper. “Xiahou Zun is one of those people. Forget you, he is beyond even my reach, for now.”

“If you and your stupid son provoke Xiahou Zun again, he will kill you. Even if he doesn’t kill you, I will see to you and your son myself. Do you understand?”

“Y-yes, I understand.”

Yu Shuanglu replied meekly and fearfully. The arrogance and recklessness she displayed earlier were all gone.

A short while later, Yu Shuanglu asked, “Are we just going to forget about this?”

Wei Nandou responded, “There is nothing you can do against Xiahou Zun.”

“I understand.”

Yu Shuanglu’s answer was obviously reluctant. The next second, she recalled something and said in an excited voice, “We can’t do anything against Xiahou Zun, but everyone else is fair game, right?”

“Nothing.” Wei Nandou replied indifferently. “Do you know who they are? Do you know what kind of relationship they share with Xiahou Zun? Do you know how strong they are? Do you know what kind of background they have?”

“Er...” Yu Shuanglu’s momentum came to a dead halt. She couldn’t answer any of those questions.

“To do something without knowing anything is the height of foolishness, and to be ignorant of one’s own foolishness is no different from committing suicide.”

Wei Nandou uttered coldly, “How many times have I said that one should always think before they act; plan before they commit to anything?”

Yu Shuanglu replied aggrievedly, “I understand.”

“If you really want to do this, then you should first dig into those two and find out everything you can find about them. Only when you are certain that they are viable targets can you begin making plans against them.”

Wei Nandou added, “Also, if you do decide to take action against them, make sure that you carry out the plan cleanly and without leaving no traces behind. It would not be worth it if Xiahou Zun is able to find some sort of evidence and use it against us.”

“I understand.”

Yu Shuanglu declared, “I promise that everything will be executed to perfection. I promise that I will take revenge for you and Ming’er.”

“Mm.”

Wei Nandou replied in an uncaring voice, “Let’s go. It’s time we head home and check on Ming’er.”

The horse carriage did not have a driver, but the massive, handsome horses drawing the carriage seemed to understand his command and sped up. They galloped along the empty street toward somewhere.
