The Profound Tortoise looked massive, but its footsteps were silent. It moved surprisingly quickly too. It reached the Sand City in just the blink of an eye.

Soon, the entire Sand City was shrouded by its shadow.

“It’s the Profound Tortoise City...”

“The people of the Profound Tortoise City is here! Run!”

“Run away!”

It was around this time the people of Sand City saw the Profound Tortoise and panicked greatly. Every single one of them ran in the opposite direction.

For a time, the entire Sand City was in chaos.

It was at this moment the Profound Tortoise opened its mouth, and a massive tongue shot toward the escaping humans. It easily spanned a kilometer or so and showed no signs of ending.

When the tongue got close to the escaping people, it abruptly split into dozens of smaller tongues. They caught at least hundreds of people like tentacles.

“Ah! Mercy!”

The trapped people cried in horror and tried to struggle, but it was futile. Some of them were Spirit Masters or Half-Step Truemen, but they couldn’t break free from the tongues wrapped around their bodies either. They could only flail helplessly as they were pulled toward the Profound Tortoise’s mouth and tossed inside.

The Profound Tortoise’s mouth slammed shut with an audible, sickening crunch. Scarlet blood dripped down the corners of its mouth and rained on the city like a downpour.

“Stand where you are! Anyone who tries to escape will meet their fate!”

It was at this moment a person appeared on top of the Profound Tortoise’s head and shouted.

“The city lord...”

“It’s the city lord!”

“Long live the city lord!”

The citizens of Profound Tortoise City immediately cheered. It was clear that the figure standing on the Profound Tortoise’s head was celebrated and well loved by his people.

“I am the city lord of Profound Tortoise City, Menghu. Why are you not kneeling before me?” Menghu shouted.

Maybe it was because of the shock, but no one moved at first. Menghu added coldly, “What’s wrong? Do you wish to die?”

The Profound Tortoise looked up and let out a long howl.

“OOOOOooooo...”

It sounded both like a snake’s hiss and a dragon’s roar. It was deafening and resounding.

As the Profound Tortoise roared, a terrible energy pressed down from above. It hurt everyone’s ears and inflicted terrible fear on them. They felt as helpless as an ant facing a god. They just couldn’t muster any sense of defiance or resistance whatsoever.

Finally, someone could not withstand the terrible energy and collapsed to their knees.
