STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 656: City Governor Martin questions!
5th Zone, City A
Red Moon Chamber
That evening, Jeremy Night left the room to take a walk around the garden. He then went towards the lobby. On the way, he found the members discussing something seriously.
He didn’t know what was happening. He furrowed his eyebrows. Then, he arrived at the lobby.
He saw that many members had gathered there, including several Tier-5 and Tier-4 Beast Tamers. Everyone was standing in groups, seriously discussing something.
Jeremy paused his footsteps and began to observe. His senses were sharp. He picked up a conversation that seemed interesting.
As time went by, he found out that everyone was talking about the same topic. His expression turned serious. He continued to listen.
A few minutes later, his eyes glinted with understanding.
"Skull Gang member," Jeremy uttered.
A sharp, icy-cold glint appeared in his eyes. He hadn’t expected the matter to escalate to this extent. Now, the illegal organization has started targeting the members.
Jeremy had not only heard about the illegal organization, but he also understood why everyone was afraid of them. It was because the backer of the organization was connected to the Human Alliance.
No wonder everyone was afraid of them. The illegal organization even dared to go after the members in the wilderness.
Since it was in the wilderness, the laws of the city wouldn’t apply there. But Jeremy didn’t know what the response of the City Governors would be.
The mission must have come from them. Jeremy frowned. He didn’t know what Head Harold would do. If he allowed him to enter the wilderness, then he would definitely take care of the criminals.
When this thought occurred, he was surprised inside. He thought this idea was good, but he was not allowed to go into the wilderness.
Jeremy began to ponder. From the conversation going on, he could tell that the teams were not ready to enter the wilderness. They were afraid of being targeted by the illegal organization.
Thud!
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps appeared, followed by a commotion.
Hearing that, Jeremy shifted his attention. He saw someone else coming to the lobby, followed by a group of Tier-6 and Tier-7 Beast Tamers.
His eyes flickered. The person who appeared was none other than Head Harold Red. The old man’s face did not look good.
Extreme worry crept onto his face. Even he had not expected things to turn out like this. Head Harold had to make some decisions now.
So, he was going to meet City Governor Martin at his residence.
Commotion!
Everyone saw Head Harold and the elders coming. They immediately quieted down and made way for him.
Harold’s eyes swept across everyone. He spotted Jeremy Night as well. He then turned towards the exit gate. If he failed to handle this problem, the members could leave the organization.
Then, no new members would join the organization. So, it was a bit of a crisis situation right now.
"Everyone, be patient. I’m going to see City Governor Martin next. The problem will be over soon." After saying that, Head Harold left with a few elders.
The members saw them leaving, but none of them made any noise. They believed that Head Harold would do something because he was respected across the upper echelon.
They also knew Head Harold had a friend in the 10th Zone.
On the other hand, Jeremy Night didn’t know what to do now. He heard those words said by Head Harold.
His eyes flickered. He collected his thoughts and was about to leave when he heard footsteps behind him.
He turned around and saw the person was none other than Senior Melinda.
"Senior," he greeted her.
Melinda nodded to Jeremy.
"Let’s have a talk. It appears many interesting things happened during my absence," she said.
Jeremy nodded. Then, both of them left the building and went back to the garden.
A few minutes later, they were at the sitting area. Both of them sat down. She then started talking about her wilderness mission.
Jeremy’s curiosity increased, and he started listening to her.
City Governor Office
Head Harold and a few higher-ups arrived at the City Governor’s office. The other two City Governors were not there; they had gone somewhere for urgent work.
Only City Governor Martin was there. He was the one who had sent the mission to the Red Moon Chamber.
When City Governor Martin heard about Head Harold’s arrival, he allowed them to enter.
The group visited his office. City Governor Martin was seated behind the desk. He was a middle-aged man with a fair skin tone. He had black hair and eyes, but his face had battle scars.
Right now, he looked serious. He saw Head Harold and the others and asked them to take a seat. Harold and the others sat down.
Martin’s eyes flashed with a gleam.
He said, "I gave a simple mission to complete. But four people died in the process. Do you think the person behind the Skull Gang will be quiet?"
His tone was harsh and firm.
Head Harold was displeased, but he couldn’t show it on his face. The middle-aged man in front of him was a powerful Beast Tamer as well.
He took a deep breath before saying, "Governor Martin, you too know that we don’t dare to kill the illegal members inside the city."
"Hmph!"
"Then how come they died at the same time? I employed Beast Tamers with special talents to investigate the crime spot."
"The four Skull Gang members’ throats were slit open by a sharp object. Probably a weapon. It could be a blade or a sword."
"As per the findings, apart from your team, no one was on the street," Martin said in a cold tone.
"This?" Harold was stunned.
The higher-ups behind him were shocked as well. It was true that their team completed the mission, but it was one of the bottom-level teams. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
They were not strong enough to kill four members in a few moves.
Martin saw through their doubts.
"I have investigated your 48th team as well. None of their talents or Lifeline Beasts match with sharp weapons. That’s why you guys are talking to me right now."
"I, too, believe someone not from the 48th team has done it," Martin said in a calm tone.
