STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 765: Head Harold knows!
Office Room
"They are working for the Darkshade organization. Upon their orders, they were monitoring Jeremy Night’s movements," Stephen said.
"What?" Harold uttered in surprise.
He hadn’t expected such an answer. He had thought the Beast Taming Families were the ones paying attention to the kid, for example, the Hill Family. He certainly didn’t expect a criminal organization to be involved.
"Are you sure about it?" Harold asked.
"Yes. After the three middle-aged men from the Association, additional people were sent to collect information. However, the backgrounds of these people were ordinary. That is how they revealed the truth," Stephen said.
Harold’s eyes turned solemn as he connected the dots. He asked, "What do you think?"
"I think someone must have hired them. It must be the Hill Family. We don’t have any intel that other forces are targeting the kid," Stephen replied.
"You are right. Why would a criminal organization target a Tier-3 Beast Tamer? Unless someone paid enough to do the job," Harold said, though his expression remained grim.
The Darkshade organization was not like any other criminal group; they were professionals.
It was hard for city governors to eliminate them because they operated in many cities and across more than one human zone.
Such was the scale of the organization, it was even stronger than their own Red Moon organization.
Stephen remained silent. He knew about the Darkshade organization as well.
They had a high chance of success, and those targeted by them rarely had an easy life, unless they were part of a major force like the Central University or the Beast Taming Association.
Those two forces had branches in every city within the human zones.
The Red Moon Chamber was different. It was a new organization with only two Tier-8 Beast Tamers as founders. If anything happened to one of them, the organization’s strength would plummet.
Silence stretched between them. Both men knew the importance of the matter; with their current strength, they couldn’t confront the Darkshade organization directly.
One comforting piece of news was that the criminal organization wouldn’t take action inside the city. As long as Jeremy Night stayed within the city limits, he would be safe.
That was a red line set by the City Governors, and the Darkshade organization wouldn’t cross it. If they did, they would have to face the Human Alliance instead.
However, this wasn’t entirely good news for Jeremy. If he didn’t go into the wilderness, he wouldn’t grow. It was the responsibility of Beast Tamers to hunt corrupted beasts and fight against the Beast Invasions.
A few minutes later, Harold let out a heavy sigh.
"The Beast Taming Family played a dirty trick. We can only provide life-saving items to the kid; we cannot follow him into the wilderness," Harold said. "Stephen, you did good work. Continue to gather more details. I hope they won’t take action inside the city."
"Okay," Stephen replied before leaving the room.
Harold leaned back and began to ponder. This new challenge was difficult. He decided to summon the kid later to advise him personally.
Then, he thought of his friend. How could he hide this intel from Neil? He dialed Neil Moon’s number.
Neil Moon thought it was just a normal daily conversation when he answered the call. He greeted Harold as usual, but he quickly noticed Harold’s serious tone.
"What happened?" Neil asked.
"Jeremy Night is facing a serious problem this time," Harold said.
"What?" Neil Moon uttered in surprise.
Harold began to explain the situation. At first, Neil Moon’s expression was calm, but it changed a few minutes later.
He hadn’t expected the kid to be targeted by such a notorious criminal organization. He knew that people targeted by them often had short lives.
After a moment of silence, Neil Moon said, "Tell the kid to stay safe. He should not enter the wilderness for the time being. I’ll contact my friends and ask for their opinions."
"I’m going to do the same," Harold replied.
They ended the call a few minutes later.
That evening, Jeremy Night was resting when he received a call from Head Harold. He answered and found out that the Head wanted to see him.
He quickly left his room. On the way, he thought of the Star Fist. He assumed Head Harold wanted to check on his progress, and a bright smile appeared on his face.
However, he decided to keep the secret of the starlight power to himself. He suspected Head Harold might have some intel on him, but since no one had the full picture, he planned to keep it that way.
He arrived in front of the office a few minutes later.
Creak!
Having permission to enter, he walked inside. He saw Head Harold seated behind the desk, but the man’s face looked worried.
Jeremy raised his eyebrows; he hadn’t caused any problems and had been practicing in his room ever since he received the technique.
"Sit down," Harold said.
Jeremy took a seat.
"I need to tell you something important. You have seen Stephen already. He found out some news; it appears a Beast Taming force hired the Darkshade organization to assassinate you." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Their scouts were caught and interrogated by Stephen earlier. He learned from them that the Darkshade organization is monitoring your movements," Harold said in a serious tone.
Jeremy was startled. While he knew they were targeting him, he didn’t know the exact reason. He had wiped out one of their teams earlier, but the motive remained a mystery.
He realized that the next time he entered the wilderness, he would have to find out who had ordered the hit.
Harold thought the kid was in shock, which explained his silence.
"Kid, don’t worry about it. I’ll give you some life-saving items later. You should visit me before you go to the wilderness. I only called you now to give you a heads-up," Harold said.
"I will be careful," Jeremy replied.
They talked about a few other things before Jeremy left the office. Once he returned to his room, Jeremy Night felt a sense of relief.
Now that the leadership knew about the threat, they would start paying closer attention to the Darkshade organization.
