Chapter 29: Will Anyone Know?

The reporters and guild representatives were going absolutely crazy! Right from the moment Jason walked out into the street, they went rabid like animals and began throwing questions and invitations his way nonstop!

The guards who had come out with Jason formed a circle around him and Gina to make sure no one could get close, and they began to move through the reporters and representatives!

Liam sent these guards because he knew that Jason, a new awakener, wouldn't be able to control his abilities that well. If Jason tried to force his way through this crowd, he could end up hurting someone because he couldn't control his strength and that would lead to another incident.

The guards were also superhuman, but they had learned to control their strength after years of working as guards, and they were more than capable of exerting just the right amount of strength to keep people away while not exerting so much that it would end up hurting someone.

The guards moved through the crowds in the circle formation until they got to a car on the other end of the street. They made space and allowed Jason and Gina to get through, and Jason made sure Gina was seated before he got inside.

Jason couldn't believe these people were acting like this just because they thought he awakened as an A Rank. What would they do if they knew he actually awakened as an E Rank and just grew that strong from one Gate? They'd probably start a stampede or something!

"Dammit, what's wrong with these people?"

Gina tried to arrange her hair back in place with a frown on her face. She couldn't believe how rabid the reporters were! They never acted this way when Gina was moving through the city!

Jason laughed at Gina's annoyed expression before he leaned out and thanked the guard for their help. The guards just nodded, and they watched as the car moved away from the street.

[Later That Night.]

[Jason's Apartment]

Jason lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling of his room with a faraway look in his eyes. He and Gina had come back a few minutes earlier, and he had already gotten ready to get some sleep. Jason was wearing a black singlet and a pair of joggers that he usually used to sleep, and the words that were floating in front of his eyes held his attention.

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

Jason reached out and tried to touch them, but his hand floated through the letters like they were made of smoke, and the letters reformed into his system tab. It was so weird to know that he now had a Gift. Jason wouldn't say that he was ever jealous of those who had Gifts. He knew that having a Gift was a certain way to make money, and he would sometimes wish he had a Gift just for that reason.

But Jason wouldn't say he was jealous of those with Gifts.

So right now, Jason still found it weird to know that he was a superhuman. It would normally take a long time for anyone to get used to the feeling of having this much power, and Jason was no different. Jason knew that his entire life was going to change from now on, and things could never be the same as they used to be.

Jason wondered what the limits of this ability were. It called itself the Necromancer system, but does it only reanimate monsters that Jason had killed? Could it reanimate any creature at all, so long as it was dead, and how about humans?

Jason asked this question to the system, and the system brought up an answer.

[The User has the capability of reanimating any creature so long as they are dead and they possess the gift of Mana. The creature does not need to have been killed by the user or a member of the user's Legion. Monsters, humans, and creatures from other worlds can be reanimated and added to the Legion.]

Jason read through all this quickly and he hummed. So it was possible to reanimate a human. Jason wondered what it would be like to have a human as a member of his Legion. It would be impossible to reanimate regular humans since they don't have any mana, but the superhumans can be reanimated. Will they still have their Gifts, or will they become stronger because of the reanimation?

'I don't think I'll be able to reanimate any humans for a while. I'm not a fan of killing innocent people just to test my theories. I'll just keep resurrecting monsters until I find a human I can use.'

Jason closed the tab in front of him and summoned the [Orange Key] that he got as a reward for crossing the Red Gate before he rolled it in his hands gently. So this Key would open an Orange Gate? He had to make sure he didn't cause any damage to the surrounding area when he used it.

[The user does not need to worry about the surrounding areas. The Gate opened by the Key will be invisible to everyone except the user. Unlike the regular Gates that are created by the sudden accumulation of mana in an area, these Gates are created through dimensional tears in the Primordial Expanse.]

Jason blinked at the explanation. He had heard the words "Primordial Expanse" more than three times from the system now, and the only thing he could understand about it was that it was the term used in describing all the worlds present in this reality. The system said that his father was also trapped in the Primordial Expanse, so Jason could only guess that the Primordial Expanse was somewhere beyond the Gate.

[The User is correct. The Primordial Expanse is a general term used in describing all the worlds present in their reality. It encompasses various worlds that contain intelligent beings of various races and power levels. A world joins the Primordial Expanse after they gain the ability to use mana.]

That meant that all the worlds out there were probably stronger than Earth.

[Yes, they are. The User's world is one of the youngest present in the Primordial Expanse. In human terms, you would be classified as a Noob.]

Jason scoffed in amusement. Hearing the system type out the word "noob" was freaking hilarious. It made it feel more alive and Jaosn wondered if the system had a consciousness of its own.

[The system possesses enough sense of self to aid the user, but not enough to perform actions beyond that.]

Jason hummed at that response. As long as he could have conversations with it about things that confused him, it was okay.

But the system's words earlier meant that he didn't have to worry about anyone seeing the Orange Gate. He could go in and kill all the monsters without worrying about reporters or civilians gathering around him!

'Orange Gates don't open that often, so it would've been weird if they suddenly saw one in New York and I was right on top of it before anyone else.'

In the past ten years, Jason hadn't heard about more than thirty Orange Gates openings. These Gates were treated like national news, and the government only gave the contract for these Gates to A and S Rank teams that would work together to take the Gate down.

As for Yellow Gates, there had only been ten that opened in the past ten years. One of them was in Japan, and three A Rank guilds were killed after going in before two S Rank guilds finally closed it. Another one was in Africa, and it was handled by two of the Five Rulers who went in with multiple S Ranks, and a third was all the way in Germany, where another one of the Five Rulers resided. The BloodRaven Guild had to go all the way over to Germany and work together with the German guild before they could close up the Gate.

The Yellow Gates were treated like world-ending phenomena, and entire countries would come together just to handle it as quickly as possible!

Green Gates were even rarer, and there had only been one of them ever since superhumans first showed up. It was the same gate that was closed by the Five Rulers and cemented their place as the strongest in the world.
