Meng Jueyan's appearance could attract attention, but not the kind he wanted. The scars on her face and her missing eye often drew looks of disgust from other disciples. That kind of reaction could easily escalate into conflict within the volatile environment of the sect.

Xuan Qing presented the opposite problem.

Her beauty was striking, and even when dressed plainly she could easily draw unwanted attention. Han Yu wanted neither of those possibilities. So the masks remained in place as they traveled.

The night sky hung quietly above them while faint lanterns illuminated the sect pathways. Most disciples had already returned to their caves for cultivation, which made the paths relatively empty.

Still, they were not completely alone.

A few wandering disciples glanced at the group as they passed.

One young disciple even stumbled slightly when he noticed them approaching. His eyes lingered briefly on the masked figures walking behind Han Yu.

Han Yu stopped for a fraction of a second and his gaze turned toward the disciple.

Cold.

Sharp.

The glare carried the faint chill of Abyssal Frost Qi hidden beneath his aura.

The disciple immediately stiffened. He lowered his head and hurried away without saying a word.

Han Yu continued walking.

Fortunately, the man had not recognized him.

Han Yu had remained out of public sight long enough that most disciples were already forgetting about him. That worked entirely in his favor.

The journey continued quietly.

After roughly ninety minutes of careful travel, the silhouette of the Second Kidney Peak finally appeared before them.

The massive mountain rose high into the night sky, its upper slopes faintly illuminated by pale blue lights from the ice formations embedded throughout the peak.

When they reached the main entrance area, Han Yu paused briefly.

He removed the outer court robes from his storage pouch and changed back into the Kidney Peak robes bearing the crest of the Peak Head.

His identity here would not remain hidden anyway. It was better to present the proper appearance.

They approached the gate.

The main gate of the peak was guarded by a powerful formation array rather than living disciples.

When Han Yu stepped forward, the formation scanned his aura.

The crest of the Peak Head responded immediately.

SHUA

A soft blue light passed over him.

Access granted.

Han Yu walked through the gate without resistance. However, Meng Jueyan and Xuan Qing were stopped.

Huala

A barrier shimmered before them, preventing entry.

Han Yu raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Oh..." Then he remembered.

The peak's defensive array only allowed registered individuals to pass through.

Since the two slaves were not yet listed in the formation's access records, they were automatically blocked.

Han Yu took out his disciple token and infused it with spirit sense and connected to the gate's formation control node. After a brief moment, he added both women to the approved entry list.

The barrier flickered.

Then disappeared.

Meng Jueyan and Xuan Qing stepped through without issue.

Once inside the peak, the atmosphere changed noticeably. The air carried traces of cold Qi that constantly flowed down from the upper levels of the mountain making Meng Jueyan shiver a bit, but Xuan Qing was fine.

Han Yu made a mental note to give the two warm clothes since they would be residing here for a very long time.

The group began climbing the main path.

Several gates separated the different sections of the peak. Each gate marked a shift in authority and residence status.

As they moved upward, disciples occasionally glanced at them. Han Yu's robes immediately drew attention as the crest of the Peak Head was unmistakable. But what intrigued the onlookers even more were the two masked slaves following behind him.

Most disciples could tell they were slaves from the aura of the slave seals on their bodies.

The masks only deepened the mystery.

Were they hiding ugliness?

Or beauty?

Such speculation was common within the sect.

Still, the onlookers knew better than to stare too long.

In the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect, staring at another disciple's property could easily be interpreted as disrespect.

However, a few of the bolder disciples approached.

Their attitudes were polite and eager.

"Senior Brother," one of them said respectfully. "Do you require assistance?"

Han Yu considered ignoring them.

But he realized they could actually be useful.

"I am looking for the residence assigned to the Peak Head's personal disciple," Han Yu said calmly.

The disciples immediately understood as their expressions brightened.

"We can guide Senior Brother."

Han Yu nodded slightly.

The group continued upward.

Gate after gate passed behind them. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

The climb gradually brought them into quieter and more prestigious areas of the peak.

Finally they reached the seventh gate.

The disciples guiding him stopped there.

One of them spoke apologetically.

"We cannot go further, Senior Brother."

Han Yu glanced toward the gate.

"Why?"

"This section is restricted," the disciple explained.

"The area beyond the seventh gate belongs to the elders."

Han Yu nodded.

That matched what he knew about the peak's structure.

The disciple continued.

"Senior Brother's residence should be in the eighth section."

"Head toward the southern side after passing the next gate."

"You will see several elder residences first."

"But your courtyard will be easy to recognize."

Han Yu waited for him to finish.

"It has a blue tower built inside."

Han Yu nodded once.

That description was enough. He did not offer verbal thanks. Instead, he took out a small pouch and tossed a few spirit stones toward the disciples.

They caught them instantly and their faces brightened with joy.

"Thank you, Senior Brother!"

While it was a nominal amount for them, the fact that Han Yu had given it to them mattered a lot more than the value of the stones themselves. In a way, it was acknowledgement.

Han Yu had already turned away.

He passed through the seventh gate and continued climbing. The surroundings changed again. The residences here were much larger. Each one stood separated by wide distances, surrounded by their own protective formations.
