Struggling as a Villain-Chapter 290 - 289- Furious Emily
The battlefield was overwhelmed by the presence of two demigods.
Vornyx, a being formed from the essence of the Death God, and James, the son of a Goddess, were clashing on the battlefield without holding back.
Richard frowned upon seeing the massive battle cry and the impact they were leaving on the rest of the soldiers, ’If it continues like this then I might have to step in…’ He thought.
Back on the battlefield, with a sharp motion, Vornyx slashed his clawed hand through the air. A razor-sharp wind howled toward James, slicing through stone like paper. James thrust his hand forward—an unseen force stopped the attack mid-air and hurled it back. The demon general spun, dodging the deflected strike, then raised a hand to the sky. Thunder roared, and a spear of lightning crashed down, slamming into James’s outstretched palm. He gritted his teeth as electricity surged through him, his muscles locking up.
Vornyx didn’t wait. He shot forward like a storm-driven arrow, his fist coated in swirling winds. James barely reacted in time, flinging himself sideways with a telekinetic push. The ground where he stood erupted into dust and shattered stone. With a snarl, he extended his fingers, gripping Vornyx’s body with invisible force and crushing inward.
Bones cracked. Vornyx let out a guttural growl before summoning a cyclone around himself, tearing free of James’s grip. He shot into the sky, then dove back down, spinning like a drill, winds spiraling violently around him. James crossed his arms, forming a barrier of raw telekinetic energy. The impact sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield, the ground fracturing from the force.
Neither of the two was stopping even for once, and their strength simply made everyone, including the three ladies who had been fighting James until now, sure about one thing.
These two were way above their leagues, so it’s better to not meddle with them.
While they were battling in the middle, Richard noticed that a few apostles were flanking their forces from left and right.
"EMILY!" He shouted before the blond one turned to look at the source of his panic, and instinctively she raised a barrier.
*SHLINK*
Light rays were fired from their spears, tearing through their surface as they reached toward the Dark side.
Emily raised her barrier just in time to protect the right side. However, the other side was still unprotected.
"Agh!" Lilia took the job and raised the barrier as strong as she could.

*CRACK*
However, her barrier soon began to crack pushing the brunette back.
Richard didn’t think twice before switching to his elemental state and taking Lilia, just a fraction of a second before, the pristine light descended upon the dark forces, completely overwhelming them.
Those who were strong and fast were able to move away in time, and those who weren’t…
"No…" Emily’s eyes turned moist as she saw several hundreds of soldiers turning into ashes because of the attack. Her focus from the barrier was slipping away and the apostles only continued to release the attack from both sides.
She closed her eyes, ready to be devoured as well when suddenly someone held her and jumped away from the trajectory.
"Agh!" She groaned as she hit the ground and the person instantly released her after jumping away.
She looked up and found it was the familiar blond girl who saved her.
"Are you an idiot?! Why weren’t you trying to dodge?!" Elizabeth shouted at Emily because of her lack of response toward the attack.
Emily lowered her eyes as she said, "But I wanted to protect them…"
"Protect them at the cost of your own life? What heroic traits did you suddenly devlope?" Elizabeth couldn’t believe that the girl was so foolish that not being able to save her comrades was enough for her to lose all her hopes.
"She is right, Emily. You need to remain more vigilant since every sacrifice would mean nothing if we fail here." Nora added as she continued to launch magic arrows in the apostles’ direction.
In the air, Crimson Witch and Richard were already taking care of the apostles.
In front of the duo, those white pigeons were nothing to fear about.
Emily realized that she might have made a mistake….however, unlike Elizabeth and Nora, this was the first time for her to be involved in such a wide-scale war.
Seeing so many people dying before her eyes was too much for her…it shook her down to her soul.
Elizabeth suddenly knelt before the girl, and while squeezing her shoulder, she said, "Don’t let the sense of loss drag you down. Rather let it become a motivation for you to defeat your enemy." Pointing toward the flying apostles, she added, "If they have taken something from you, it’s your right to take revenge on them."
Emily’s eyes turned cold when she looked at the apostles…those fiends, despite hailing to be on the side of peace…how could they?
"Huh?!" Elizabeth was startled upon feeling the burst of Aembr from Emily as the girl began to float in the air.
Richard and Bellarine also caught sight of the blonde girl, who was extruding an intense amount of blood lust.
Everyone on the battlefield felt it—the shift in the air, the weight of something unseen yet inescapable. Then, Emily raised her left hand.
A sudden, crushing force gripped the apostles.
"AAGGHHH!"
"What is this?!"
Panic set in as their bodies jerked violently, their limbs flailing against an invisible, merciless grip. Blood vessels burst beneath their skin as an unbearable pressure clamped down on them. Bones cracked. Screams filled the air, raw and desperate, but it didn’t matter—Emily’s power had already decided their fate.
One by one, they were dragged toward each other, their bodies colliding with sickening cracks. Their struggles were meaningless. Muscles tore, ribs shattered, and the sound of snapping spines echoed through the battlefield. Their screams blended into a single, horrified wail as their flesh was compressed, and crushed against one another.
Then—
BOOOOOOOM!
The apostles’ bodies exploded in a monstrous eruption of blood, bone, and shredded meat. Flesh and organs splattered across the battlefield, painting the ground in a thick, crimson layer. A steaming mist of blood lingered in the air, the stench of death overwhelming. What remained was an unrecognizable heap of gore, chunks of bodies barely distinguishable from one another.

Silence followed.
The battlefield stood still—every soldier, every fighter frozen in sheer horror.
Emily lowered her hand.
Elizabeth was shocked, as she remained rooted at her place and muttered under her breath, "Wasn’t a barrier supposed to be a defensive skill?"
