Submitting to my Ex Uncle-Chapter 233
Dominic stretched his hand to Celeste as he helped her out of the car.
"You look so extraordinary," he said for what must have been the tenth time that night. He wasn’t exaggerating.
His voice carried the kind of sincerity that made the word extraordinary sound new. He said it like it was made just for her.
Celeste smiled. Her fingers slid into his with quiet grace. She stepped out, and her heels met the ground softly. The night air clung to her shoulders, cool and fragrant.
She wore a black backless mermaid gown that shimmered faintly under the soft streetlights. The gown hugged her delicate beautiful figure, and flowed.
She looked elegant yet dangerous. Her YSL heels clicked the floor like measured heartbeats. Around her neck, a silver raindrop necklace gleamed, catching the faintest movement of light.
Her earrings matched her necklace, delicate, like promises. Her curls had been straightened and held back in a sleek ponytail that made her jawline sharp.
Dominic couldn’t stop staring. He didn’t even try to.
"You said a date," Celeste teased, her lips curving. "You didn’t say this would be a staring contest."
"It’s still a date," he said, eyes still fixed on her. "Just... one I’ve been waiting for all my life."
She rolled her eyes gently, but the warmth in her chest betrayed her calmness. He had this way of making everything feel like forever, even the simplest night.
They walked together toward the hall. Celeste had no idea where they were. Dominic had insisted on driving, and had insisted she trust him. And she did. Completely.
When the doors opened, the world shifted.
The hall looked like a dream that had been dipped in twilight. Everything glowed in a soft and expensive way.
The light was purple with deep lilac. There was hints of silver all around. The whole place had the kind of color that looked like it knew how to keep a secret.
Celeste’s breath caught.
At the center, the arch curved like a half moon. The arch was a polished silver crescent that caught the light and threw it back in shards of lavender and ice.
Strings of crystals hung from its edge, swaying faintly with the air. They scattered fragments of rainbows across the mirrored floor. The backdrop behind shimmered with layers of texture that looked alive.
Everywhere, there was reflections. Every chandelier flicker, every sweep of her gown, and every inhale of air mirrored endlessly across the glass floor. It looked like walking on still water.
The flowers which were white, mauve, lilac, and dusted rose were arranged like poetry around the stage. The scent of them filled the space, soft and intoxicating.
Above, folds of purple drapes poured from the ceiling like liquid dusk, bleeding gold light through their edges. The chandeliers glowed like constellations caught too low, casting everything in warmth that could make even the shadows sigh.
Celeste turned in place, speechless.
She’d never seen anything so quiet and so loud all at once.
The world felt paused.
"Dominic..." she whispered, her voice was barely there. She couldn’t even speak. "What is this?"
He didn’t answer.
When she turned to him, she froze.
Dominic was already on both knees.
Her lips parted. Her breath trembled in her chest. "Dominic..."
He smiled faintly. His smile was deep, and unshaken. It even lived somewhere behind his eyes. "I know the trend," he began softly, "is to go down on one knee. But with you, Celeste..." His voice cracked in reverence. "With you, I’ll go down on both. I’ll beg, if I have to, just for the right to keep loving you the way I do."
Celeste blinked fast. The world blurred through her tears. Her heart stuttered in awe. The kind that made her feel small and infinite all at once.
"Dominic, you already proposed," she whispered. The corners of her lips trembled into a watery smile. "You already gave me a ring."
He laughed gently, shaking his head. "No," he said, his tone soft but certain. "I only asked you to marry me. This time..." His voice lowered, and his eyes glinted like the purple light around them. "This time I’m telling your heart that I mean it. That I’ll keep asking in every lifetime until you gets tired of saying yes."
He opened a small velvet box.
Inside, there was another diamond. It was
ot just a stone, but a universe. It caught the light and bent it back into stars.
Celeste gasped, her hand covering her mouth. The ring she already wore glinted against her tears.
"I don’t need a new one," she whispered, kneeling down halfway in front of him. "This one already fits where it should. I don’t want to replace it."
Dominic smiled. His eyes softened into a rare kind of warmth that could undo years. "Then I’ll keep this one," he said, slipping the new ring back into his pocket carefully. "So maybe, when we’re old and the world has forgotten how to be kind, I’ll give it to you again. Just to remind you."
Celeste let out a breath that was almost a sob. "Dominic—"
"Say yes to me again," he said quietly, almost like a prayer. "Not because you have to. But because I can’t imagine not doing this again, or hearing you say it again."
Her lips trembled. She nodded.
"Yes," she whispered, her tears rolling freely now. "Yes, I will. In every lifetime, I will."
He exhaled before he rose, catching her face in his hands. He kissed her, soft at first, then deeper, and fuller. The kiss rewrote every vow they’d ever said.
When he finally pulled back, he spun her around suddenly, laughing as she gasped and then laughed too. She gave him that sweet, rare sound that always broke him open.
Celeste’s laughter turned to tears, and then, the tears turned to laughter again, until both tangled into something that felt too big for her chest.
He rested his forehead against hers. "I’ve loved you for so long," he murmured. "It feels like my whole life was just me learning how to love you right."
She brushed her thumb against his cheek, breathless. "Then don’t ever stop learning."
"I couldn’t if I tried."
