Chapter 124: Daddy Violence

’Shit! Shit! Shit!’ Clutching a helpless Raurau at his hip, Runthral sprinted with all his might.

Primary Nature–Subtle Terrain Domination!

The broken walls of the Central Peak Battleship morphed and turned into shields behind him, only to be shredded apart a second later by the Bone-Melting Artillery.

His figure plunged through the intact portion of the floors, feeling a mild, burning sensation as the floors above began to melt into a puddle.

Dripping down the Millinger was a corrosive fluid that ate into the floors. And with a slap from its centipede upper body, the floor collapsed, allowing the Millinger to chase after Runthral.

Its upper body shot forward like a serpent’s lunge, until Runthral fell within its Spirit Weapon range.

Bang!

Runthral ended up slamming into the wall, no longer able to pass through it. He cranked up his strength and unleashed Subtle Terrain Domination at full capacity. However, his power usage was fully inhibited, for he was within Inhibition Dome’s range.

"My kind has challenged the Empyrean Snappers in the past," The Millinger uttered as it took the chance to close the gap, "However, we never chanced upon a victory, even once."

"Still, we respected them, for they were existences who lived in the same medium as us and were superior to us in every way." The Millinger seemed to be growing angrier the more it stared at Runthral, "It has always been the dream of the Centinger Race to one day surpass the Empyrean Snappers. But, reality is otherwise."

"In the present scenario, staring at you, I’ve come to understand my race’s dream better." The Millinger slammed a spike into Runthral’s leg, causing the latter to holler out in pain, "Every single Empyrean Snapper has remained a wall to us."

"Even now, when my strength has been boosted to the peak of the Gold Grade," It expressed sullenly, "I’ve found myself inferior to an Empyrean Snapper."

"They are fucking frauds who somehow managed to remain Gold Grade existences, when in reality, they should have been a part of the pinnacle realm." It roared, "And what about you?"

"Even upon maturity, you’ll never be a wall to me." It cursed upon melting Runthral’s legs, "Even if they are my enemy, I can never accept the existence of a weak Snapper!"

"That’s insulting!"

"Gah..." Runthral found himself lost for words, for the pain was insane. The substance leaking out of the spike that had stabbed into his melted legs was steadily invading his bloodstream, overpowering his Prana’s efforts to flush out the foreign substance.

"D...D-Dad..." He turned to face the man lying on a broken slab of the wall next to him, "Save me!"

The Central Peak Battleship had been reduced to ruin, with small pieces of it floating on the water while the rest, alongside a multitude of Cooter Clan corpses, sank into the depths.

From time to time, Cooter Clansmen rushed to Runthral’s rescue, only to be bombarded by an artillery strike by the Millinger.

Golden flashes swarmed them, but were unable to enter the Millinger’s Spirit Weapon range. For the time being, Brunta Brimgan was unable to assist.

But unlike the Cooter Clansmen, he didn’t know Runthral was an Empyrean Snapper, and hence only considered the latter as another Cooter Clansmen. Since so many were dying around him, he couldn’t afford to focus his attention on only one individual and was instead trying his best to kill Raefrag.

"Ha...hahahahaha..." All Raurau did was laugh like a broken record, for now that there was no ceiling to shield him from the sky, the aurora became clearly visible. Tears streamed out of his eyes as he expressed horror towards the boar’s face formed within the aurora, "This is...the end."

"Everyone will be eaten!"

"Dad! Save me!" Runthral screamed as the Millinger picked him up with its mandibles.

"With this, we’ve secured our objective." The Millinger made a satisfied expression, which morphed into annoyance later upon eyeing Raurau, "Your screams are grating to my senses!"

A spike launched from its neck and aimed at Raurau’s head, intending to kill him. It wasn’t as fast as its artillery strike, since the target was close by and unable to resist. But unlike what the Millinger expected, the spike didn’t kill the target.

Right before it made contact, an ivory cylinder appeared between the two. As the spike pierced it, the ivory cylinder deformed in response, like a slab of rubber. And then, it expanded to assume its original form, due to which the spike was launched back at the Millinger.

The spike stabbed halfway into the Millinger’s exoskeleton on the neck, melting through the contact point.

The muscles nearby squelched once and ejected the spike out, after which the wound closed up. The Millinger eyed the teenager who had appeared at the scene to stand before Raurau, "A Cooter Clansman?"

’One that looks the same as Runthral?’ It thought in surprise before smirking in realisation, ’So, it was you, huh?’

"Nothing changes even if you could deflect a single attack of mine," It said as this time, four spikes were launched.

The spikes weren’t sent back this time, as the ivory drum slightly altered its shape to become a ball instead. As the spikes pierced through it, the ball’s insides absorbed shockwaves and redirected it to the shaft.

It was a precise manoeuvre, slightly pushing the spikes sideways, enough for them to miss the target and plunge into the sea water.

"Huff..." The teenager was Torq, panting with a nervous expression, "I deflected your attack twice. What do you say about that, huh?"

’How did he survive during the original timeline if he looks this messed up already?’ Torq had grabbed hold of Raurau by the second defence he had erected.

"You are indeed capable," The Millinger uttered, "However, it seems you’ve already expended your Prana reserves from deflecting the two attacks."

"This is your end," Saying as such, it launched a dozen spikes at Torq, frowning when they were deflected yet again, ’How is he doing that? He doesn’t seem to have enough strength to resist my strikes.’

A thought later, it focused the power of its Inhibition Dome upon Torq and watched the ivory fluid created by the latter dissipate in a matter of seconds, ’A strange ability, to think a Silver Grade Cooter Clansman’s Spirit Weapon took me a full five seconds to inhibit.’

’Still, I was told to expect something strange from him, and to torture him to the best of my capability. Then, I’ll torture his family first.’ It prepared another attack, "It ends here..."

"Dad!" Torq bellowed, gathering some moisture in his throat to adjust his voice to resemble Runthral’s, "Your honoured son is here!"

"Will you watch as my pride gets defiled? Or will you fight to protect my honour?" As he roared, he used a stream of mist to help throw Raurau into the sky, and used another stream to converge into the latter’s eye sockets to help ease the muscles.

"Your life’s work is here! DYING!" He screamed, as the moment he easened up Raurau’s muscles, Prana gushed into the sockets and instantly regenerated the eyes. The speed far surpassed his supposed strength, as the words funnelling into his ears seemed to have triggered something.

As his eyes shot open, the first image that was incident to him was that of Torq, dressed like Runthral, looking like he was on the verge of death.

’My Son...My Deity is about to die?’ Raurau blinked, once.

And then, violence erupted from deep within his being.
