Summoned with an SSS-Rank Portal Skill-Chapter 351: All Out
At first, William thought the paladin was going to attack him, but it was actually a cure, healing the other paladin he had struck. A divine light descended, enveloping the cut on the paladin's neck. The bleeding stopped, and the wound began to close. William had never seen anything like it.
The healed paladin ran to take his place beside the other one. Now, six paladins were surrounding William.
"Be on your guard. I think he called for backup," the paladin leader said.
William also thought help was on the way. But after about thirty seconds passed, no one appeared.
"Guess they're ignoring your call for help," the paladin leader mocked.
"Fuck," William murmured.
He had no idea why Shyvana hadn't appeared. She was right there, inside the cabin, and still she hadn't come to help him. Maybe something happened to her? Maybe Brian did something to her!
His mind raced, trying to find a way to win the fight. Even with his strength, it was still six paladins against him. Anyone would have a hard time facing six paladins at once.
"Scared?" the paladin leader mocked.
"Why would I be?" William retorted.
"Every demon we've faced eventually shows fear," the paladin leader replied. "You will be purged by the Divine Light."
The paladins who had been surrounding William shifted their formation. Three of them moved to the front, raising their shields, while the other three fell back, using their crucifixes to channel divine energy.
This was troubling. With three divine spells being cast at once, William could feel his demonic energy recoiling, wanting to flee. These were the worst kinds of enemies for him to face. He knew he couldn't hold back; he had to go all out.
So, without another thought, he unleashed his demonic transformation.
The moment he did, the demonic energy contained within his heart erupted, swirling around his body like a living shadow of black energy. A demonic face formed over his own like a mask, his eyes glowing red as fresh blood.
"He really is a demon," another paladin gasped. "And he seems to be a high-ranking one."
All of William's attributes surged, nearly doubling in value. On top of that, he also gained special abilities that could only be used during his demonic transformation. The paladins, once confident the fight would be easy, were now afraid after witnessing his transformation.
In addition to transforming, William also used his body-enhancement magic, pushing his attributes even higher. Now, it was as if he were a walking tank.
[+150 to all attributes]
[+40 Strength, +40 Agility]
"Chief, his level might be lower than ours, but I can feel his power has increased immensely," one of the paladins said.
In truth, while William was slightly above level 50, the paladins were already level 70, with their leader at 80. This level difference would be difficult to overcome. The only way was to use everything he had.
After using every possible spell to boost his attributes, William also drew on his necromancy, summoning creatures to aid him in the fight. He was an incredibly powerful necromancer, largely thanks to his demonic energy, which gave him a much larger reserve than most conventional necromancers. With little effort, he summoned twenty skeletons armed with a variety of weapons, along with three blood golems. Each skeleton was around level 40, while the golems were level 50.
The paladin leader grew even more concerned, yelling, "Prepare Divine Smite."
The paladins, who had previously been channeling three spells at once, now decided to combine their efforts to cast a single, unified spell. It was a powerful ability called Divine Smite, capable of purging and dealing immense damage to any creature tied to the Darkness. William was one such creature.
Of course, he didn't just stand there and wait for the smite to fall on his head. With his enhanced attributes, he charged towards them, and all the creatures he had summoned moved with him. William reached them first and, with a flick of his wrist, hurled a black fireball over the shield wall, aiming directly at the paladins channeling the spell—the leader included.
One of the paladins saw the attack coming and quickly jumped into the air, using his shield to intercept the fireball mid-flight.
William wasn't expecting that move, but he didn't stop. He leaped as well, soaring toward the paladin still in the air. As he closed the distance, the paladin was already beginning to descend after blocking the fireball.
With surprising agility, William twisted his body mid-air and plunged down, driving his sword into the back of the paladin's neck and continuing the cut straight through, splitting his back in two.
His sword, enhanced with demonic energy, began to melt the paladin's armor the moment it touched it. That was what allowed him to cut directly into the paladin's body. This time, a healing spell was impossible. That paladin was dead.
William landed on his feet. The other two shield-bearing paladins were fighting his summoned minions, while the leader and the remaining two were still in front of him, channeling the Divine Smite.
"Protect the leader!" one of them yelled.
They knew there was no point in continuing to channel the smite while leaving their leader exposed. The two who had been assisting him stopped and charged at William. They gripped their maces, channeling another kind of magic.
A yellow light enveloped their bodies. William could feel the heat emanating from them; with every step he took closer, his demonic energy fought against that yellow light. It was a battle between demonic light and divine light.
"Demonic Horizontal Slice!" William roared.
He swung his sword horizontally, and a wave of demonic energy shot forward, rapidly closing the distance with the two advancing paladins. The energy slammed into the divine light protecting them, and a battle began. The demonic energy tried to break through while the divine light fought to defend the paladins. And of course, the demonic energy prevailed. Despite their higher levels, William's attributes were vastly augmented, and that made all the difference.
The Demonic Horizontal Slice struck the paladins head-on, melting the torsos of their armor. It wasn't a fatal blow, but it was enough to halt their advance, forcing them to catch their breath.
"Ready!" the paladin leader shouted.
The moment he yelled, all the paladins scrambled to get clear. Then, a Divine Smite fell from the heavens, striking William and the creatures he had summoned. A massive crater was left in its wake.
