Summoner Online: I Became the Tutorial Boss with a 999+ Villainess-Chapter 60: Accept my lord as yours.
With a single shimmer of light, Carlotta changed back into her outfit and made her way towards the door while Kai sat down on the edge of the bed.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Sofia standing right outside, with a worried look etched on her face. Her hands were held together in front of her chest as she blinked multiple times without saying a word.
Carlotta could not help but frown.
If it had been Leo she had seen, she would have somewhat let it go. Hell, if it were both of them, she would have done the same thing. At least then her hatred could have been easily shared between them.
But a woman... a woman was who interrupted her romantic moment with Kai.
"What do you want? Can’t you see it’s so early in the morning? You had better have a good excuse for being here at this time."
She could not sound any more bitter if she tried.
Sofia, on the other hand, seemed too worried to pay attention to the hostility.
"Where is Lord Shadow?" she asked, trying to peep inside despite the fact Carlotta was stopping her by putting her body in the way.
"He is busy right now. If you have any information to relay, say it to me. I will—"
"Carlotta, stop bullying the small girl and let her in." Kai’s voice echoed from the back.
Carlotta, though grumpy, stepped to the side and allowed Sofia to walk in.
Sofia herself wasted no time before she hurriedly stormed the room.
It didn’t take long for her to reach Kai, where she then proceeded to bow her head.
"Why have you come here so early in the morning? Has the meeting been finalized? That would be rather early," he asked.
"Something like that. Leo is currently trying to speak to the new Guild Master, because apparently the old one was found dead last night."
Kai paused.
’I see. So Carlotta ended up doing it then. Strange, I feel nothing.’
Sofia continued.
"It was awful. The way the death was described made my skin crawl a bit."
"That is to be expected. Seeing as a Witch such as myself killed him. Witches do not kill unless it pleases them in some way. He was rather boring too, so I can’t say it was pleasurable." Carlotta chimed in casually.
"You killed him?" Sofia looked at her in shock.
"Of course. He attempted to make a mockery of my Lord by scamming him. Surely you can see why such a pest had to die."
Sofia sighed, then stood upright.
"I should have noticed. It is obvious now."
"Tell me. This new Guild Master, does he pose any problem to our current plan?"
"Eh, no not really. Leo said it is a woman, and it is going smoothly so far. He should get the papers before the end of the day." Sofia had a smile on her face when she said that.
"Splendid, my Lord. It means we can return to the Nameless Dungeon soon." Carlotta spoke with excitement.
"You are right. I am sure the rest of the Pillars await our return. Which makes me wonder what they have been up to." Kai looked to the side, tempted to check the Dungeon Monitor.
...
Surrounding area of the Nameless Dungeon.
"Yoshi! This should be the place."
Fhera uttered, standing right in front of what looked to be the entrance to a dark cave, surrounded by rocks at the side.
To the common eye, it was a regular cave, but those who understood the ways of monsters would immediately be able to tell that it was a dungeon.
This particular dungeon was located not too far away from the Nameless Dungeon itself.
For the past few hours, Fhera had spent her time going from one dungeon to the other, urging them to bow their heads to Lord Kai and pledge their allegiance.
And of all the seven dungeons she had gone to, none of them had accepted to follow under the rule of Lord Kai, Ruler of the Nameless Dungeon.
While they had heard rumors about how his dungeon grew to be a B-Rank in such a short amount of time, their pride still said otherwise.
However, they all seemed to say the same thing.
"Let us speak to your Lord ourselves."
So they said.
Fhera sighed.
"Such an insult. They should be honored to be even anywhere near Lord Kai. Even though I have not known my Lord for too long, it feels like I have been with him since the dawn of time."
She paused, resting her blade on her shoulder.
"Is that why I feel jealous Lord Kai wanted to add them to his rule? I mean, this is a D-Ranked dungeon. I find none of them worthy. They would be much better being used as bait or something."
Fhera sighed again.
"I guess I can’t complain. It is my first job on the team. Failure is not an answer."
With that, she began to walk forward.
Eventually, she got into the cave, her eyes meeting the fire lanterns that were hung at the side of the walls.
The air inside the cave was damp and carried the distinct, musky stench of unwashed bodies and raw earth, the smell of a Goblin Den. Fhera wrinkled her nose slightly, adjusting her grip on the hilt of her blade.
The path twisted deeper, the lanterns casting long, dancing shadows that played tricks on the eye. The low, guttural chattering that was characteristic of Goblins grew louder, echoing off the stone walls.
Finally, the tunnel opened up into a large, cavernous chamber.
Dozens of Goblins, small, green-skinned humanoids with sharp teeth and wide, nervous eyes, were scattered throughout the space. They were engaged in various activities: gnawing on bones, sharpening crude weapons, or huddled around small, sputtering fires.
The moment Fhera stepped into the chamber, the chattering died instantly.
All eyes, beady and suspicious, turned toward her. The Goblins froze like startled insects, their movements halting mid-task.
At the far end of the chamber, atop a makeshift throne carved poorly from a large boulder and adorned with scavenged metals, sat a Goblin noticeably larger than the rest. He wore a rusted, ill-fitting crown and clutched a thick, wooden club that looked far too heavy for him. This was the Dungeon Master.
"Who... who is you?" the Goblin Master squeaked, his voice thin despite his girth, struggling to sound commanding. Several smaller Goblins immediately scurried to position themselves protectively around his throne.
Fhera did not bother to announce herself. Her face, usually expressive and full of youthful energy, was set in a mask of dignified coldness, a look she had meticulously practiced since becoming one of Kai’s Pillars. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"I have not come to trade insults, nor to waste the precious time of the Nameless Dungeon’s Ruler," Fhera stated, her voice resonating clearly through the silence of the cave.
"I come with an offer of fealty, an ultimatum, and a chance for you to live under the protection of Lord Kai. Take him as your lord, so you may live under his protection."
