“Stop pretending, the one who saved you.”

“Has Ye Chen arrived?” Qing’er’s eyes lit up.

“He has. He has been running around like a thief, carrying a large plate of food. He’s quite the food lover, looking more rustic than ever. He doesn’t even watch where he’s going, just directly charged over.”

Everyone turned to look at her almost at the same time.

Ye Chen also stood up and took a glance. She did look quite beautiful, but perhaps he was too far away, or the lighting was too dim, he couldn’t make out her features clearly from his position.

It was Su Zhan Ze who accompanied her out, followed by Ren Haotian and Yuan Jingxing.

The crowd exhaled a collective “oohhh” of appreciation in unison.

Zhan Ze appeared very confident, while Shizi, now changed into a new outfit, sat on the other side of Qing’er. However, she seemed to lack confidence, repeatedly checking her attire and worrying that she was exposed.

Guo Yuqing glanced around the crowd and saw him in one corner, leaning against a column, looking like a rustic farmer. Yuqing announced, “Tonight is my birthday. I’m very happy that you all could come. Everyone has shown me great kindness, and for that I thank you all. In addition to tonight being my birthday, I also want to express my thanks to everyone here.”

“On the night of my incident, you all were worried for me. I’m really very touched. Furthermore, there is a special individual whom I want to thank. That night, I was trapped in a cave, alone. If not for his intervention, I don’t know how I would’ve held on till the morning. Moreover, it was him who helped me escape the cave.” She pointed to a corner of the room as she spoke.

Ye Chen, who wasn’t prepared for this, took a while to react. All eyes turned towards him as if he were in a spotlight, making him feel undressed under the scrutiny.

Ye Chen managed to awkwardly wave a greeting to everyone.

“But, I am really grateful for everyone’s concern – I have probably caused trouble for all of you. Everyone, let’s enjoy the night and eat without restraint.” Qing’er didn’t say much, nor did she prepare a lengthy speech. She simply declared it the start of the night.

Zhan Ze spent some time introducing Yu Qing to few unfamiliar faces, but she really didn’t remember most of them. Later, Hu Nanyue and Su Hong joined them.

Upon seeing the crowd that had gathered, and spotting his son amongst them, Su Hong asked, “Was the event organized by Zhan Ze?”

Shizi replied, “I don’t have that type of influence to invite so many people.”

“The arrangements are well-made, Qing’er, ensure you guys have fun.” Suddenly, he asked again, “By the way, where’s Ye Chen?”

“He should be over at that corner, eating.”

On being thrust into the spotlight, Ye Chen thought about ducking out until he heard a voice beckoning, “Ye Chen, come over here.”

Ye Chen turned around. Seeing it was his senior master, he didn’t have the heart to leave and walked over. He had met Su Hong before.

“Everyone’s dressed so glamorously. Why aren’t you?”

Upon hearing this, Shizi said, “This guy did it on purpose.”

Not long after they left, Qiao Haoyu arrived. A few days earlier, Yu Qing had had a chat with him and had turned him down for a romantic relationship, but agreed to stay friends.

She had taken Shizi’s advice seriously.

A part of her reasoning for rejecting Haoyu was due to Zhan Ze setting off fireworks previously. She felt it was time to settle this matter once and for all, so she chose to reject Haoyu. She didn’t want to create more misunderstanding. Being a smart girl, she knew it was better to nip things in the bud. However, Zhan Zhe was unaware of this.

That night, upon hearing that Yu Qing was celebrating her birthday here, Haoyu brought a gift and came over.

Zhan Ze noticed him, turning to ask Shizi, “Did you invite them?”

Shizi shook his head and said, “No.”

“This guy really can’t take a hint,” Zhan Ze muttered before walking over.

Yu Qing, who wanted to ask about the meaning of Ye Chen’s sand gift, saw Zhan Zhe storming off and quickly walked over, hoping to avoid any potential confrontation.

“What are you two doing here?” Su Zhanze demanded.

“Yeah, were you guys even invited?” Ren Haotian chimed in.

Yuan Jingxing snorted, “They’re surely shameless. Do we even need to discuss this?” His tone tinged with scorn.

Qiao Haoyu laughed, “I didn’t get lost, this isn’t your backyard. Why can’t I come?”

“Someone come here, we don’t welcome these two individuals here!” Zhan Ze called to the guards at the door who were supposed to keep these two out, but somehow they had managed to get in.

Yu Qing intervened before anything else could happen, smiling, “Oh, Brother Haoyu, you made it.”

Haoyu shoved Zhan Ze aside, his demeanor suddenly friendly, “Your birthday, of course, I had to bring a gift.”

“Hehe, you didn’t have to bring a gift. Your presence is more than enough.”

“Well, I congratulate you on safety and a happy birthday!”

“Thank you.”

Zhan Ze, upon seeing this, quickly called off his approaching guards.

“You look gorgeous tonight. I somewhat regret agreeing to your terms.” Qiao Haoyu joked.

“You’re really funny. You look quite handsome yourself.”

“You truly look stunning, like a fairy. Only a fairy could be this beautiful.”

Zhan Ze, who was standing behind them, could only roll his eyes at their exchange.

“You two come inside quick, there’s a lot to eat. Please feel at home,” Qing’er called out.

“Sure, I won’t stand on ceremony.” With that, Qiao Haoyu walked towards the crowd with Dongfang Tang.

At this point, Yu Qing approached Zhan Ze, “I let them come in, don’t mind them.”

Zhan Ze replied, “I’m just worried they might stir up trouble.”

“Come on, they are fellow disciples from Immortal City, not some common street thugs. How can they possibly cause trouble?” Yu Qing assured him.
