Super Spender-Chapter 542 - 536: To Bow or Not to Bow (Part 2)
Chapter 542: Chapter 536: To Bow or Not to Bow (Part 2)
As her assistant left promptly to carry out her orders, Helen Goldsmith found that her anger was slow to subside.
“Master, we are being watched all the time. I believe they are special agents sent by the Southland Country government, and they are even planning to install surveillance equipment in your hotel room,” Olivia Thatcher suddenly blurted out.
Finn Lewis paused for a moment before a cold smile crept onto his face. He was not surprised that there were people from the Southland government keeping tabs on him. Even Hanson Lee had people tailing him, partly to prevent anyone foolish enough from messing with him, and mainly to protect Finn himself. They were afraid that something might happen to him in Southland. As for any other aspects, they dared not defy Hanson Lee. As for the Southland government, people like Finn are constantly under surveillance in any country.
There was no way around it. Given Finn’s status, if anything were to happen to him in any country, it would be a crisis. No country could withstand such an event, and the consequences would be severe. Hence, keeping an eye on him also meant protecting him. But to install listening devices directly in Finn’s room, this was obviously not for protection; this was surveillance.
“It seems our esteemed colleague is out for blood,” Finn laughed. “Olivia, just have someone clear up all the surveillance equipment, don’t show any mercy.”
“Chairman Lee, there’s someone outside claiming to have been sent by Mr. Finn Lewis, saying Mr. Lewis has something to pass to you,” Hanson Lee, who was just about to rest at home, received a report from his servant.
Hanson Lee hesitated for a moment before instructing his servant to let the guest in. A few minutes later, he was greeted by a man who seemed familiar — one of Finn’s bodyguards. The bodyguard straightaway spoke up after his entrance, “Good day, Chairman Lee. I was sent by Finn. He has a gift for you. Also, Finn hopes that you can make a decision in three days.”
The bodyguard then placed a square box from his hands onto the tea table in front of Hanson Lee. Mr. Lee pointed to the box and asked, “My friend, did Mr. Lewis mention what this is?”
“I do not know what it is. But Mr. Lewis said all you need to do is to consume all of the items inside at once. My job here is done, I shall take my leave now.” The bodyguard nodded and then prepared to leave.
“Graceful, could you please show this gentleman out?” Hanson Lee instructed.
Usually, they would not have bothered sending off a bodyguard. But it was different today. They had no idea what Finn had sent, but it must be something significant; so they had graceful Lee escort the guest out so that she could gather some information. Once they left, Lee began to feel curious and picked up the square box. It was not big, barely fifteen to sixteen centimeters each side, and was noticeably heavy. Surely, the weight had a lot to do with Lee’s current physical condition. Moreover, the box seemed to be a sealed container with robust protection.
Actually, the box was just for show put on by Finn. At times, the value of an item could be displayed through its packaging. So a fancier box suggests the item to be precious. Once Lee saw the box, he knew the items inside would not come easily, even though the exchange price for the three bottles inside was just three hundred points. However, Lee did not open the box right away and waited for Graceful to return.
After a few minutes, Graceful came back, and Lee cast an inquiring glance at her. “Father, I’ve got an answer. He said the item is a kind of therapeutic potion that would be greatly beneficial to your health.”
“Oh?” Hanson Lee’s eyes brightened. He then promptly waved his hands and said, “Open it.”
Graceful immediately took the box from Lee’s hand, put it back onto the tea table, and unlocked it. As the “pop” of the box being unlocked echoed, it seemed as though something was released; a faint whiff of white cold air sprang up from the opening slits. The lid of the box sprang upwards before gliding off to one side, revealing four concave recesses inside.
At this moment, only three of the recesses were occupied by glass apparatuses similar to a test tube, each filled with liquid of various colors, giving off a distinctive feeling that the potions were not ordinary items. Both Lee and Graceful thought so as well. Seeing the three test tubes filled with the potion, Graceful became somewhat worried as they didn’t know exactly what it was.
The problem was, what if there was something wrong with the potion? Graceful could not help but voice out when she saw her father pick up one of the tubes, “Father…?”
“Should I send it to the hospital for a check?” Graceful could not help herself, as nobody knew what they were dealing with exactly.
“No need. Once we submit it for examination, our collaboration with them is over. No matter how effective it is, if we have it inspected and the ingredients are discovered, then what? I will take it as is. As someone on his death bed, I’m not convinced that he would try to harm me. There’s no need for it,” Lee refused flat out without giving it a thought.
“But…” Graceful was still hesitating, but Lee had already opened one of the tubes and downed the liquid inside without a second thought.
“Next one,” Lee continued, pointing at the box.
Seeing her father had already consumed one, Graceful could only reluctantly open the next one and handed it to him. Lee soon drank all three bottles. The incredible effects of the potion soon began to show. Unlike when Finn drank it, Lee felt more pain, but he bore with it silently, and soon his body broke out in a cold, murky sweat.
Fortunately, they had prior experience of drinking cloud mist tea and thus were not frightened by this sudden effect. About half an hour later, Lee, wearing his bathrobe, could hardly believe that he was standing barefoot on the floor. He looked down at his own feet, attempting to move each toe. He could feel the strength returning to his toes. Lee had thought that he would have to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
