Chapter 167: Meeting Grid

"So, we're in Bairan. Why?" Diana asked.

"No reason, it was just the first city after Reidan, that's all," Dave replied casually. Boa and Diana nodded in understanding.

"Let's look around," he said as they began exploring. Suddenly, someone bumped into them.

"Sorry," the person said hurriedly before rushing off.

Curious, Dave stopped another passerby and asked, "What's happening?"

"Oh, there's a blacksmithing competition going on," the man replied.

Dave smirked. So, this is that part of the novel, he thought as he and his group followed the crowd, heading toward the competition venue.

At that moment, a voice echoed in Dave's mind.

Madra: I sense a familiar aura... Yes, that bastard Pagma!

Madra: But it's weaker... Perhaps his descendant is here.

Dave asked internally, Who is Pagma?

Madra: Pagma was a blacksmith who became a legend in his craft. He's another legend like me, though much weaker.

Madra: But he did make some good equipment. You might want to befriend this descendant of his.

Dave nodded, looking ahead at the competition venue.

Seeing the city lord present, Dave muttered, "Judging by that guy's expression, this probably won't end well. I might get a chance to help."

Madra scoffed.

Madra: That man is just another greedy and useless lord.

Dave glanced at the city lord, already expecting trouble.

Soon, the competition began between Euphemia and Grid. However, just before the start, Euphemia suggested that Khan, the workshop owner—whose workshop was on the line in this competition—should also compete with Grid against her. Khan accepted, and the competition officially began.

After an intense hour, the results were in. Euphemia successfully created an Epic Dagger, and then Grid crafted a dagger of his own. But just before anyone could inspect it, the dagger was suddenly taken from him, and knights rushed in to apprehend him.

The knights stormed forward, placing a sword against Grid's neck.

"You are suspected of working with the terrorist Hurio! We are placing you under arrest!" one of the knights shouted as they began dragging him away.

"Stop! Valmont, you bastard! You're cheating because you know you can't win this competition!" Khan shouted angrily.

Valmont, the Lord of Winston, merely scoffed and ordered his knights to throw Khan out.

"Was that really necessary?" Rabbit, Valmont's adviser, asked.

Valmont smirked. "Of course. Do you really think I would give up a blacksmith like Khan and his workshop?" He chuckled before walking away.

Meanwhile, Euphemia, unconcerned with the situation, asked, "Well, do I get my rewards? I won anyway"

Rabbit nodded. "I will keep my promise," he assured her.

A system notification appeared, confirming the completion of the quest for Euphemia.

"Do you have some sort of copying skill? Your movements were just like Khan's," Rabbit suddenly asked.

Euphemia's smile faded. Did he figure it out? she thought.

"The company is going to collapse sooner or later, either due to Valmont's greed or because Lord Steim will eventually learn of his treachery," Rabbit continued. "It's time for me to leave as well and start over in a better place. And what better place than with Grid? His skills are so great that he could create a world-famous smithy. I would like to work for him, its an perfect place to fuly use my abilities."

Is he really that great? Euphemia wondered.

"I want you to help him break out of prison," Rabbit said, and a new quest notification appeared for Euphemia.

"Interesting," a sudden voice interrupted. They turned to see Dave standing there with Diana and Boa.

"Who are you?" Rabbit asked.

Dave looked at him with a smirk. "That's what I should be asking. You were able to see Grid's techniques, yet no one else here could. I guess you're pretty skilled yourself."

Rabbit replied humbly, "My experience allows me to judge such things."

"It takes more than just experience to see through a Legend," Dave added with a shrug.

Rabbit's eyes widened, his hand covering his mouth in shock. "There's only one legend in blacksmithing... You mean—?"

"Shh," Dave said, pressing a finger to his lips. "I'll help him get out of here. I was planning to do that anyway." Then, turning to Euphemia, he asked, "And what about you, Erina?" referring to the name she had used in the competition.

"My name is Euphemia. Nice to meet you," she replied.

Dave nodded. "Dave. This is Boa, and this is Diana."

Euphemia gave a polite nod in return, acknowledging his companions.

"What's in it for you?" Rabbit asked.

Dave replied with a smirk, "What else but befriending him? I can ask him to make me some good equipment."

Rabbit nodded. "Then please help," he said as a quest notification appeared for Dave.

Dave nodded. "I'm barging in."

Euphemia shrugged. "If you're that confident, why not?" she said joining them.

Dave then turned to Boa and Diana. "Let's go."

The four of them took their first step toward Winston Castle.

After half an hour, they stood at the gate of Winston Castle.

"Are you sure about this?" Euphemia asked once again.

Dave smirked as he drew his sword, while Diana cast buffs on all three of them—Boa, Dave, and Euphemia.

"Pretty damn sure," he replied before kicking the gate open.

And just like that, they walked in.

"Intruders!!" a guard shouted, sounding the alarm.

Dave barely spared him a glance before grabbing the man and tossing him aside like a ragdoll.
