Super Zoo-Chapter 810 - 789 Various Friends
Nicole pressed a few buttons on the main console.
A row of gates on the drainage pipes facing the cliff behind the castle slowly rose, releasing a large swarm of mutated vampire bats. After emerging, the bats circled outside the cliff for a while, then divided into dozens of squads, each led by a noticeably larger bat.
Dozens of bat squads flew off in all directions, quickly disappearing into the vast forest, with the leading bats' eyes flickering with a faint red glow.
At the same time, on the large screen in the castle's underground laboratory, several forest images appeared, seemingly captured by flying 'monitors', constantly moving.
However, the clarity of the images was very poor, and the 'signal' was intermittent.
"The path of signal sensing is still long; to use genetic technology to clearly and synchronously transmit the bats' vision back is far beyond the reach of current human technology, and temporarily, it can only be realized through bats naturally capable of echolocation, impossible in other animals. Nevertheless, genetic technology is indeed miraculous, just this one function, once breakthrough progress is made, it could bring infinite business opportunities, and humanity would thereby reach a new height…"
In such times, Nicole actually began to express her interest in technology aloud.
The underground laboratory's door opened, and a group of fully armed combat personnel rushed in. Seeing Dr. Yuri's headless corpse on the floor, they paused in shock, then immediately raised their guns aiming at Nicole. The leader asked, "Miss Nicole, please explain what happened here."
Without turning her head, Nicole held up a pale golden card between her slender fingers, speaking lightly, "This is a special authorization card issued by the committee, allowing me to handle affairs in various divisions temporarily."
Locke took the card, stepped forward, and handed it to the leading security captain. The captain quickly took the card from Locke, then retreated a few steps quickly, maintaining a safe distance from Locke. He then verified the card in a machine nearby, and upon seeing the flickering LV2 authority on it, second only to the committee's core members, the captain slightly lowered his gun.
"However, Miss Nicole, your authority allows you to handle division affairs…" The captain glanced at Dr. Yuri's corpse on the floor, noting that Dr. Yuri was a site administrator with authority second only to LV2 and also the highest among various department types.
Besides, temporary handling doesn't imply that you can bypass reporting and directly kill the manager of this department, does it?
Nicole turned her head and flashed a seductive smile at the captain, nodding seriously with wide eyes, "Yes, I overstepped my authority."
"Ah…" Hearing Nicole say this left the captain speechless, for even if Nicole overstepped, he, a mere LV5 authorized person, could hardly do anything to someone with LV2 authority.
"My dear, now you either shoot me or just shut up and do what you need to, otherwise I wouldn't mind overstepping again," Nicole said.
Locke stood aside, grinning, showing his rotten teeth.
The captain swallowed hard. Shoot her? You must be joking. Unless authorized by a higher-up, if he truly shot or injured Nicole, the organization would make him and his family pay a heavy price. On the contrary, Nicole, with LV2 authority killing Dr. Yuri with LV3 authority, the committee might still be outraged and demand a reasonable explanation; but killing a security head with LV5 authority wouldn't even require the use of 'authority' – no one would pursue it.
Within the organization, hierarchical levels are strict, and the level of authority means everything. A security head with LV5, facing an administrator with nearly core-level LV2 authority, is less than a dog.
"I'm sorry, Miss Nicole." Ultimately, the captain lowered his gun, waved his hand, and led his men out of the underground laboratory.
"Nicole, you're too nice to these guys. I should be smashing their heads in," Rotten-Teeth Locke said, squeezing his fist with a ruthless grin.
"When will you ever grow a brain?" Nicole didn't even glance at Locke, her expression blank as she stared at the large screen of the monitor.
Before long, a castle emitting a ghostly blue light appeared on one of the monitor screens, nestled among mountains like a magnificent diamond.
"It seems our friend is a wealthy guy," Nicole said with a raised eyebrow, revealing a dangerous smile.
"How wealthy can he be? Wealthier than the guys in the organization?" Locke muttered.
"Right, I almost forgot you didn't mention it. Looks like we need to make use of our friend's power to prevent the Russians from tracing us here," Nicole said.

Major General Vaghnief had been waiting in a side chamber of the Kremlin all afternoon, and if he wasn't waiting to meet the President, his military background would have driven him to anger by now.
The door opened, and a secretary from the President's office walked in. Vaghnief shot up from his seat, frowning, "Can I see the President now?"
"Mr. Director, I'm afraid the President might not be able to meet you these days." freёwebnoѵel.com
"Why?" Vaghnief asked.
The secretary explained, "There are several big conglomerates from Germany hoping to visit our country to survey the investment environment. As you know, the President has always been troubled by economic issues, so he values this visit highly and is convening a think tank meeting. He might not have time during this period."
"Not even an hour?" Vaghnief frowned, "I have very important matters to discuss."
"Then I will inquire again."
The secretary left the side chamber and soon returned, opening a laptop, "Mr. Director, you have twenty minutes."
President Vladimir's slightly exhausted face appeared on the computer screen, rubbing his temples and with eyes slightly closed, he asked, "What's the important matter?"
"Do you still remember the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS?" Major General Vaghnief quickly introduced the investigation concerning the explosion incident in Ukraine, then added, "This division, is said to be related to some sort of Nazi research."
"Nazis, damn it, why after all these years, are we still troubled by Nazi issues..." the President sighed heavily, "Vaghnief, even back then, it was only circumstantial evidence insufficient to prove the issue, mostly rumors. Even if there was truth to it, it would merely be similar to Unit 731's biological warfare. It's been so many years, I don't want this matter to affect the forthcoming meetings with the German consortium."
"But..."
Major General Vaghnief was about to say more, but the President waved his hand to interrupt him, "Vaghnief, you need to understand, what our country needs the most now is economic development. I don't want my people living in the so-called delusion of a great nation, yet having to import even a computer or a bar of soap from abroad. Let's not talk anymore about this for the moment; you may investigate secretly, but absolutely must not cause any disturbance."
