SUPREME ARCH-MAGUS-Chapter 628: That’s the difference between you and ME!
The summit of Mount Meru shimmered in the pale moonlight, the air suffocating with an impending sense of dread.
Kent stood at the edge of Meru Mountain. His silhouette framed against the undulating flames of ritual that licked higher than the tallest trees, sending a clear signal: the enemy was near.
He gripped his bow tightly, his sharp eyes scanning the dark horizon. Around him, the mountain echoed with the serene yet fervent chanting of the sages, the cadence of their mantras growing louder as the ritual neared its climax.

Kavi, the Fire Kirin and Ruby lay nearby, nibbling on a roasted chunk of meat with a delighted hum. Jabil, the serpentine beast, coiled next to Kavi, his scales gleaming like liquid silver. His forked tongue flickered in approval as he spoke. "Your moves back there were impressive, Kavi. A pity the demons were too weak to put up a fight."
Kavi chuckled, her molten eyes glowing with amusement. "Demons are like moths to my flames. They always burn when they get too close."
Ruby, the phoenix, perched atop a jagged rock, her fiery feathers casting a soft orange glow. "Enjoy your feast while you can," she warned, her tone light but her eyes scanning the distant horizon. "We’re not done yet."
Even the baby dragon circled Kavi in joy, its small wings beating furiously as it chirped and roared in delight. For a brief moment, the summit seemed almost peaceful.
But then, the ritual fire exploded upward, its flames roaring with sudden, unnatural intensity. The burst sent tongues of fire shooting into the sky, illuminating the summit in an ominous red glow.
Kavi dropped her meat, her playful demeanor evaporating. "That’s no ordinary flame," she said, leaping to her feet.
Jabil coiled tighter, his serpentine body quivering. "The warning fire," he hissed. "They’re here."
Kent didn’t hesitate. "Take your positions!" he barked. With a flick of his wrist, he summoned his chariot—a gleaming marvel of golden metal etched with runes of protection. He loaded it with spell-cast spears, each one crackling with latent energy, ready to unleash devastation.
He raised his bow, summoning the Space God Inheritance Astra, reinforcing the arrow roof with an iridescent shield that shimmered like a star-studded sky. "Let them come," he muttered, his voice low but resolute.
First Sage Paras glanced at him briefly, his aged face calm but filled with trust. Without breaking the rhythm of his chanting, he gave Kent a small nod.
Ignira moved beside Kent, her violet eyes gleaming with mischief and skepticism. "So tense," she teased, her tone laced with mockery. "If my guess is right, the demon prince himself is coming. You should have played it smarter, Kent. If I was you, I wouldn’t have killed those elders. Those two dead elders could have been a distraction and time wasting. But no, you had to anger demon prince now."
Kent turned his head slowly, his gaze piercing. "That’s the difference between you and me," he said, his tone final. Without waiting for a response, he climbed onto his chariot, his presence radiating an aura of unshakable determination.
Ignira blinked, momentarily stunned. "Arrogant fool," she muttered, though a faint trace of admiration flickered in her expression.
The sky began to tremble, a deep, guttural sound that reverberated through the mountain. The rhythmic sounds of countless beasts echoed through the valley below, accompanied by the unholy cries of demons and the rattling of skeletal beasts.
The chanting sages faltered for a moment, their voices trembling. Even Paras turned his head slightly, his calm demeanor cracking just enough to reveal a flicker of concern.
"They’re here," Ruby murmured, her wings flaring as she prepared to take flight.
The demon army came into view, a black sea of monstrous forms spilling over the sky. Thousands of demon kings marched in formation, their dark armor glinting under the flickering green flames that danced atop the heads of skeletal beasts. Chariots rattled behind them, their wheels carved with jagged runes. Above, 1,000 sky riders soared on winged fiends, their shrill cries piercing the night.
At the center of the horde stood the demon prince, his massive frame encased in a gleaming suit of bone-shaped armor. On his head rested a crown of jagged skulls, and in his hands, he held the azure draconic skull, its dark energy pulsing with menacing intent.
Ignira, standing on the summit, took an involuntary step back. Her lips parted in shock as she took in the sheer scale of the approaching force. "This… this is madness," she whispered.
Kent, however, remained unmoved. With a sharp gesture, he activated the Inheitance Astra of the Fire God, releasing a blazing projectile into the sky. It split into countless fiery darts, each one imbued with the destructive power of nirvanic flames.

The demon prince snarled, raising the azure skull high. A net-like energy shield burst forth, crackling with dark power as it spread across the army. "Is that all you’ve got, mortal?" he roared, his voice a thunderous growl.
But Kent’s flames tore through the net with unrelenting force, raining down upon the demon army. Screams erupted as over a hundred demons fell, their bodies consumed by searing flames.
The demon prince narrowed his molten eyes. "This one isn’t just a human," he muttered, a mixture of rage and grudging respect in his tone.
Kent’s chariot surged forward, cutting through the sky like a comet. "Ruby, take the left flank!" he commanded. "Kavi, hold the right! Jabil, cover the rear!"
The phoenix let out a piercing cry, her wings igniting as she dove into the horde, leaving a trail of fire in her wake. Kavi unleashed a torrent of molten lava, melting through ranks of demons like wax. Jabil slithered through the battlefield with lethal precision, snapping up demons and crushing them with his powerful coils.
But soon all three beasts occupied with powerful beasts and ghosts. The Preta and Pisacha race ghosts began harassing baby dragon.
Kent turned his bow horizontal and unleashed a barrage of arrows, each one a streak of light that tore through the sky and found its mark. "You wanted war, demon prince," he muttered. "You’ve got it."
The prince roared in fury, his whip lashing out as he spurred his chariot forward. "You will regret this, mortal!"
