Supreme BeastTamer: I Can Copy and Upgrade Skills 10x!-Chapter 583: Pawns of the Scourge Alpha
Frostpire... the western walls...
King Dracos stood atop the wall alongside several elite generals of the Frostpire Kingdom.
The Frost Monarch watched the ongoing battle at the front with a distant look on his face.
It had been a while
since the prodigies of the Dragon Realm ventured into the ancient forest. During their absence, Scourge Dragon attacks had become even more frequent.
"It's almost as if something is chasing them out of the forest," the king muttered as he narrowed his eyes. Fortunately, with him stationed here, no monster had slipped past the walls.
After observing for a while and ensuring the situation was under control, Dracos vanished in a burst of frigid wind, leaving a trail of frost on the ground where he had just stood.

Some time later, he walked alone through the hallways of the Frost Castle, his footsteps echoing. This part of the castle was silent—no guards, no maids.
He had strictly forbidden all servants from entering this particular floor. Not even Zara or Drake were allowed here. Only he had access.
Eventually, he stopped before a door. Stepping inside, the confident facade he always wore began to crumble.
The cold didn't bother him—he was the Frost Monarch after all.
But this place? It froze something far deeper than flesh.
Dozens of portraits lined the walls. Framed in silver and arranged neatly along the curved structure, each painting depicted a woman—same silvery-blue hair, same pale, mesmerizing blue eyes.
There were no cobwebs or dust. The room was perfectly preserved—not through a servant's care, but because Dracos had made it a habit to clean the portraits every morning.
He walked to the center of the room where a glass pedestal stood. Inside was a necklace—simple, with a snowflake-shaped pendant.
He raised a trembling hand but stopped just inches before touching the glass.
"…Still haunting me, after all these years," he muttered hoarsely, turning around. His eyes landed on the largest portrait at the far end of the room. She sat on a throne of ice, wearing a crown of snow crystals. Her smile barely reached her eyes.
What stood out most about the woman… was the striking resemblance to Zara.

The Supreme Dragon Court – Temple
A few days ago, the elders had discovered the corpse of the Frost Elder and
naturally, panic had ensued because the death of an elder
wasn't a common occurrence.
Along the hallways, the servants whispered in hushed voices.
"Are the rumors true? I heard they found a body in the archives."
"Yes, they say it's the Frost Elder."
"Heavens! That can't be right!"
"I didn't believe it either… but I saw the guards carrying what was left of him. His head—it was gone."
"Who did it? I thought the temple was one of the safest places in the Dragon Realm."
Due to the panic, the Supreme Leader had called for a meeting.
All seven elders gathered around a circular table, the air heavy with silence. All eyes were fixed on Zhun'Var, who stood with his hands clasped behind his back.
With a grave expression, he began in a solemn voice, "I assume you've all heard about the incident."
No one spoke.
"The Frost Elder is dead," he continued. "Killed inside the archives—past the temple's three layers of security."
The Supreme Temple was often applauded as one of the most secure locations in the Dragon Realm due to its triple-layered defense system.
Furthermore, the seven dragon elders themselves—each a Legendary-tier being—resided there. Not even the monarchs could force their way in easily.
At first, some suspected one of them might be behind the murder. But the Frost Elder had no enmity with anyone. Killing him was senseless—especially with the Scourge Dragons threatening the realm.
But it seemed Zhun'Var, the oldest and strongest among them, had more to say.
"After a thorough investigation, I've concluded that this wasn't the work of any Drakonkin," he said, walking slowly around the table. "It was done by something more powerful… and intelligent."
After a pause, he added, "A Scourge Alpha."
Gasps echoed through the chamber.
Zhun'Var nodded. "The possibility is high. We've long suspected the Alpha is evolving its chosen. They're becoming more and more intelligent."
"But how did it bypass our security? I didn't sense a damn thing!" the Lightning Elder cursed, slamming his fist on the table.
BANG!
A deep dent formed where his fist struck. Zhun'Var's gaze lingered on the spot for a moment. A flicker of irritation flashed in his eyes—brief, too fast for any of the others to notice.
"I examined the scene myself," he said. "There were no signs of forced entry. No defensive magic was triggered. And yet… he was killed instantly."
After the death, Zhun'Var had ordered everyone, including the other elders, to stay away from the scene.
"If you're so sure, then let us inspect the scene ourselves," the Wind Elder demanded.
Zhun'Var didn't reply immediately. After a pause, he sighed. "If that's what you wish."
Later, they arrived at the archives—and their expressions paled.
"What is this…?"
"Scourge energy. I can sense it everywhere."
"Damn, he was right. Does this mean the temple is no longer safe?"
Murmurs broke out among the elders. If the Frost Elder could be killed so easily, they didn't dare imagine their own chances if caught in a similar situation.
Seeing the panic on their faces, Zhun'Var addressed them in a calm yet firm tone.
"Fear not. I'll personally oversee the investigation. No one leaves the inner court without my knowledge. Until the threat is contained—assume we've been compromised."
"Yes, Supreme Leader!" the elders echoed, bowing their heads.
"Good." Zhun'Var smirked faintly, then muttered under his breath—so low only he could hear.
"Fools."
