Supreme BeastTamer: I Can Copy and Upgrade Skills 10x!-Chapter 603: The War Begins
"Finally, it is time," Zhun'Var, the leader of the Supreme Dragon Court, declared. He was standing on the throne of the temple, and in his grasp was a pulsing dark core that emitted dark smoke.
The entire room was engulfed in this corrupted smoke, and on the ground, the elders were all writhing like fish out of water as the dark mist slowly seeped into their pores.
Several painful groans and screams echoed throughout the temple. The elders weren't the only ones affected by the corrupted core; all the servants of the castle were also being affected.
Just some days ago, Zhun'Var had received a message from the Alpha Scourge itself that the war had begun, and the time had come for him to carry out his long-awaited role in the invasion.
Naturally, Zhun'Var rose to the task at hand. What better place to corrupt first than the Dragon Realm—the symbol of justice?
The grin on Zhun'Var widened with each moment as he saw the elders slowly take the shape of Scourge beasts. He still couldn't believe his eyes—that the long-awaited day was finally coming to pass.
Zhun'Var had expected the order from the Scourge Alpha to arrive in some months before executing the plan.
For the order to come this early, he could only think something must have triggered the Alpha.
"Perhaps it was the doing of those beasts sent to the marked area?" Zhun'Var thought inwardly, his gaze sweeping over the hall where all the elders now stood upright in their Scourge dragon forms.
Their eyes were now vacant, the previous sparks gone. Now they were nothing but mere puppets awaiting their master's orders.
---
Frostpire—King Dracos Frostpire—stood atop the walls, eyes narrowed. He was wearing intricate armor with frost details inscribed on it.
The monarch's long blue hair fluttered in the wind as he stared at the tidal wave of monsters surging forward. In the past days, the army of corrupted dragons had tripled, and all the kingdoms had suffered severe losses.
At this point, they didn't need to see the Scourge dragons to know that the war had officially begun. It was the main reason why Dracos had donned his special armor.
FWISH! FWISH!
Following a burst of frost, a slim frost spear appeared in Dracos's grasp. The tip of the spear gleamed menacingly, as if eager to impale enemies who dared stand against its master's path.
'This time, it seems the Alpha is going all out,' Dracos muttered as he slowly walked toward the edge of the wall, dragging the spear behind him. Anywhere the spear tip touched, it turned to frost.
As he arrived at the edge, the Frost Monarch squinted his eyes and muttered when he saw a humanoid figure hovering amid thousands of corrupted dragons.
"Now that's new," he whispered under his breath. Not even a trace of fear could be seen on his face.
Over a hundred meters away, the humanoid Scourge dragon hovered in the air, its sharp gaze fixed ahead. If one were to look into its red eyes through the mask it wore, they'd have seen the reflection of the handsome Frost Monarch.
Just as the Frost Monarch was watching, the Scourge commander was watching as well.
"That thing is stronger than a Champion," Dracos easily deduced as he gripped his spear tightly. The tip of the spear pulsed, and trails of frost ran through its build.
At the same time, in the distance, Dracos saw the Scourge commander slowly lift its arms. A dark blast—similar to the Black Sun Garren had used—pulsed there.
Dracos's eyes flashed as his senses flared up. From his position, he could clearly sense the unstable corrupted mana in that attack.
Without hesitation, he shouted at the top of his voice:
"Everyone, stand by!"
The soldiers of the Frost Kingdom didn't object. Their monarch's word was like law to them, and they hurriedly disengaged from the battle.
When he saw that his troops—both in the air, on the ground, and on the walls—had retreated back a few steps, the monarch slowly lifted the spear. As if it had a life of its own—
Swoosh!
The frost spear shot into the air. It moved with monstrous speed and precision, effortlessly cutting through all obstructions in its path.
The white streak moved through the sea of black. All eyes were automatically drawn to it. The dragonkin below watched with amazement and bated breath. As for the corrupted dragons, they clearly saw it approaching, but the spear's speed was too terrifying.
Furthermore, it also had a stunning effect, making it extremely difficult to dodge. Over 50 Scourge dragons were killed before the spear arrived at its target—
The Scourge Commander.
Just like the corrupted dragons, it tried to move, but the spear found its mark between its eyes.
SHINKKK!
The spear pierced through the skull of its target. Even though it had seen its brethren taken out easily, it had thought its tougher exterior could withstand the attack. But who... who would have thought... that the ordinary-looking spear would be the end of its life?
BOOM!
The spear exploded outward, then returned—zigzagging through the air and impaling over a dozen more corrupted dragons on its way back to its master.
A chorus of shock spread through the Frost Kingdom's army.
Dracos stood tall, catching the blood-stained spear in one hand.
At the same time, a thunderous boom echoed through the air.
BOOM!
A geyser of dark energy exploded from the Scourge Commander's chest. The dark blast it had been holding back finally erupted, taking out all the corrupted dragons in that vicinity.
The hulking body of the commander slammed into the ground like a falling star.
Dracos glanced at the spear in his arms and muttered, "So this is the true capability of an Ascended weapon—capable of dealing with a Legend-tier dragon so effortlessly."
Dracos's grip tightened, his gaze falling to his armor.
With two Ascended treasures on him, the Frost Monarch leaped off the wall. That day, the Frost Dragon army was ignited.
Their monarch—Dracos Frostpire—descended like a falling glacier, slamming into the battlefield with enough force to shatter the frozen ground beneath him.
CRACK!
Icy ripples erupted outward from the impact point, momentarily freezing any nearby corrupted beast in place. Several shattered to pieces instantly.
Without a word, Dracos dashed forward. The blood-stained spear in his hand hummed, reacting to his rising mana. With each swing, frost coated the air, slicing through all obstruction.
He... he was like a one-man army.
