Across every city, town, and small village, crowds gathered near statues, shrines, or makeshift awakening altars. The beast-taming fever had spread like wildfire. Every child, teenager, and young adult who had reached the age of awakening was there—some trembling, others too excited to breathe properly.

The world was changing, and everyone could feel it.

In the capital’s temple plaza, hundreds of new Beast Tamers stood in line. Most were still in disbelief that this was even possible.

“Are you sure it’ll work for me?” a nervous boy asked.

His friend grinned. “Of course it will! You just have to put your hand on the statue and focus.”

The boy took a deep breath, stepped forward, and placed his palm on the stone surface. A faint glow rose from the base of the statue.

The temple guard smiled and gestured for one of the beast cages to be brought out.

“Focus on your mana,” a temple guide said patiently. “Try to form a bond by communicating your intention.”

The boy took another deep breath and placed his hands on the bars of the cage. A fierce light of determination flashed across his eyes.

“Now, try to think about a mark or sign you want on the beast,” the guide added, following Nox’s instructions.

Nox had personally employed and trained the temple guides, teaching them the step-by-step process of taming. Even though they weren’t beast tamers themselves, they knew exactly what to do.

The boy nodded and focused.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then—boom!

A small wolf paw materialized on the forehead of the beast, solidifying the bond.

The boy’s eyes brightened.

“Congratulations,” the guide said warmly. “You’ve successfully tamed your first monster.”

The crowd gasped.

“It… it worked!” he cried, tears welling in his eyes. The small wolf barked softly, its tail wagging.

A teenage girl was struggling with a horned lizard that kept biting at her boots.

The air around him buzzed with mana. From there, he could see the entire city below—streets full of young tamers testing their abilities.

Beast cubs chased children through the alleys. Sky eagles perched on rooftops. The city no longer felt purely human—it felt alive, as if the ancient bond between man and beast had rewritten the very air.

Nox turned around, only to find his grandfather standing there with a walking stick.

“Well, that wouldn’t be so bad,” Nox said, turning to face him.

The serpent raised its head, hissing softly. The girl smiled. “You’ll be my partner from now on,” she said gently. The creature flicked its tongue in approval.

By evening, the news had reached even the nobles of the Vermilion Kingdom. A meeting was already underway—one that centered on the sudden, kingdom-wide spread of beast taming.
