Chapter 27: A Dance With Death
The street was eerily silent.
Only the sound of Leon Xian's breath and the faint rustle of wind filled the night air. Opposite him stood the black-robed elder, his presence exuding an oppressive aura that sent shivers down Qin Yue's spine.
The old man's face remained impassive, but his deep-set eyes carried a dangerous gleam.
"You have disrupted our plans, boy," the elder said, his voice carrying an almost hypnotic chill. "The Shadow Pavilion does not tolerate such interference."
Leon smirked. "And I don't tolerate weaklings trying to kill me."
The moment the words left his mouth—
BOOM!
The elder vanished.
Leon's pupils shrank—
A blade appeared at his throat.
"Too slow."
The elder's whisper sent a cold shiver down Leon's spine.
But instead of panicking, Leon's lips curled into a grin.
"Not slow enough."
Crack!
Leon tilted his head slightly, the assassin's blade grazing past his skin, cutting a few strands of his hair instead of his throat.
With a sudden burst of Qi, Leon twisted his body and delivered a ferocious elbow strike toward the elder's ribs.
BAM!
The elder phased through it.
Leon's attack hit nothing but air.
"What the—?!"
Before he could react, a powerful force struck his side—
CRACK!
Leon soared through the air, crashing through a building wall.

The Difference in Power
Qin Yue gasped. "Leon!"
She turned toward the elder, her grip tightening around her sword. Despite her confidence in Leon, she could feel the sheer difference in strength.
The elder slowly descended, landing gracefully like a feather. His robe didn't even stir.
Leon groaned, pulling himself from the rubble. A trickle of blood ran down his lip, but his golden eyes burned with excitement.
"Hah... Not bad, old man." He wiped the blood away with the back of his hand. "But if that's all you've got, I'm disappointed."
The elder raised an eyebrow. "Your arrogance is amusing."
Leon rolled his shoulders.
Then—
Golden Qi erupted from his body.
The entire street rumbled, cracks forming beneath his feet as the raw energy surged through him. His robes fluttered violently, and his once casual expression turned sharp.
The elder's eyes flickered. "So this is your true power."
Leon smirked. "Not even close."
And then—
He vanished.
---
A Battle of Speed
BOOM!
Leon reappeared behind the elder, his fist already aiming for the man's skull.
The elder sidestepped at the last second. But Leon was faster.
BAM!
His knee slammed into the elder's chest, sending him skidding backward.
Without wasting a second, Leon charged forward, launching a flurry of lightning-fast punches, each one carrying the force of a battering ram.
The elder deflected them all—barely.
But as their speed increased, his expression shifted from calm to serious.
"Enough."
The elder vanished again.
Leon's eyes narrowed—
There!
He twisted just in time to block a palm strike aimed at his heart.
But—
BZZT!
A shockwave of dark Qi erupted from the elder's palm, sending Leon flying once more.
He slammed into the ground, leaving a crater beneath him.
Leon coughed, feeling the taste of iron in his mouth. His entire right arm throbbed with pain.
The elder stood over him, hands folded behind his back.
"You're strong, but experience trumps raw power."
Leon growled, pushing himself up. "That so?"
The elder sighed.
"You don't understand the scale of what you've gotten yourself into, boy." His gaze darkened. "The Shadow Pavilion is merely the beginning. If you continue down this path, you will face monsters far beyond your comprehension."
Leon wiped his lip. "Monsters, huh? Sounds fun."
The elder shook his head. "Foolish."
He raised his palm. A dense black mist began forming around it—
And for the first time, Qin Yue felt a sense of pure dread.
"Leon, move!" she yelled.
But before she could act—
A golden light exploded from Leon's body.
The elder's eyes widened.
"Finally," Leon grinned, his hair flowing wildly in the rising energy. "I've warmed up."

A New Power Awakens
The air trembled.
Leon's aura expanded tenfold, sending shockwaves through the street. His golden Qi condensed around his fists, forming ethereal dragon scales that glowed with raw power.
The elder took a step back.
"This..." His eyes narrowed. "Dragon God Physique?"
Leon cracked his neck.
"I don't care what it's called." He smirked. "All I know is that I feel strong as hell."
The elder vanished again—
But this time, Leon saw him.
He's fast.
But now...
I'm faster.
---
BOOOOM!
The entire street exploded as Leon vanished and reappeared mid-air, slamming his fist into the elder's chest.
For the first time—
The elder gasped in pain.
His body shot through several buildings, crashing into the distant hills.
Qin Yue stared, her mouth slightly open.
"...He actually did it?"
Leon let out a slow breath, his Qi still pulsing around him like a golden storm.
He glanced at his hands, flexing his fingers. "So this is my full power... Not bad."
But—
A chilling laugh echoed through the air.
Leon's eyes snapped toward the distant hills.
From the rubble, the elder emerged.
His robe was tattered. Blood dripped from the corner of his lips.
But—

His eyes shone with eerie amusement.
"Very well," the elder whispered, brushing the dust off his sleeves. "I wasn't planning on taking this seriously..."
His Qi exploded.
The entire sky darkened.
"But now... you have my full attention."
