Supreme Master: Cultivation Starts After Recruiting SSS-Grade Talent-Chapter 47 - Guided by the Winds
Roulan’s small fingers tightened around her father’s hand as they walked. She was supposed to leave today, the carriage was likely already waiting outside the sect gates. But for now, she wanted just a little more time. Just a few quiet moments by his side.
Each step toward the guest hall felt heavier than the last. The path through the inner courtyard was lined with flowering trees, their petals drifting lazily in the breeze. But Roulan hardly noticed the beauty. Her thoughts were too loud.
Once she left Evergreen City, what would happen to her?
Her cultivation had ended before it had even truly begun. Her meridians were broken, shattered beyond repair. Without them, she could no longer gather qi. No techniques, no pills, no spells would ever work again.
Would she live the rest of her life as an ordinary girl? A crippled child in a foreign land?
And when would she see her father again?
That thought hurt the most. Her throat tightened, but she said nothing.
By the time she realized it, they were already standing before the guest hall.
Inside, Elder Zi sat at the table with a rare look of polite interest on his face. He was speaking to a young man Roulan didn’t recognize.
That alone surprised her. Elder Zi was usually cold and distant, especially toward strangers, but now he seemed respectful and slightly cautious.
She followed his gaze and noticed three women standing near the young man.
The trio looked like they had stepped out of a painting. The first had a gentle expression, like spring rain. The second smiled with mischief in her eyes, playful and sharp. The third didn’t smile at all, her cold gaze could probably freeze fire.
Roulan blinked, awed and a little intimidated.
Who are these big Sisters? Companions? Bodyguards?
Then her gaze returned to the man seated between them.
He looked young, no older than twenty, and carried himself with an easy calm. But he sat like someone who was used to being at the center of attention. Roulan stared a little longer, slowly narrowing her eyes.
’...Could he be... a womanizer’
...
While Su Roulan’s thoughts were tangled with curiosity and unease, her father, Su Jie, stood beside her with a wholly different turmoil in his heart.
The moment he stepped through the doorway, before even registering faces, he had sensed it: three powerful golden core cultivators.
His spiritual sense instantly locked onto one in particular, whose cultivation had already reached the peak of the golden core realm, just one breath away from breaking through to the nascent soul.
Though Su Jie himself was a nascent soul cultivator, even he could feel the subtle pressure emanating from that young woman. Her aura was sharp yet controlled, like a sword sheathed but ready to strike.
’Young... all three of them are so young.’ He couldn’t help but be awestruck. ’Which sacred land or ancient family produced these monsters?’
Then he saw the fourth person. He almost failed to notice the man seated calmly in their center, only in the Qi Refinement realm.
That detail alone made everything even more baffling.
Just then, Elder Zi’s voice echoed through the hall, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Sect Master is here!"
Su Jie stepped forward with calm composure, giving a faint nod. Elder Zi rose and bowed respectfully. The three women exchanged brief glances, then followed suit, offering him polite bows, each with a distinct elegance that only made their status more confusing.
Meanwhile, the young man remained seated, leisurely sipping tea as though the formalities around him didn’t apply.
Lan Yue cleared her throat lightly. "Master... etiquettes."
Only then did the young man finally rise and offer a slight bow, his sleeves fluttering like he was performing a reluctant courtesy.
Su Jie paused for a beat, his mind still turning. Did she say... master?
He quickly gathered himself and returned the bow, keeping his thoughts hidden behind a calm expression. And beside him, Su Roulan also bowed respectfully.
Seated calmly at the head of the guest hall, Sect Master Su Jie offered a polite smile. Although the youth before him appeared to be only in the Qi Refinement realm, the presence of three powerful Golden Core cultivators flanking him demanded careful treatment.
"This one is Su Jie," he said with a smile, "Sect Master of the Red Lotus Sect. And this is my daughter, Roulan."
His eyes momentarily softened as he glanced at the girl beside him. Her small hands were still clutching the edge of his robes.
"It’s not often we receive such distinguished guests at this hour," he continued, his tone careful. "May I ask how we should address you?"
The youth tilted his head, his gaze calm. "You may call me Xie Ren."
"Xie Ren..." Su Jie repeated, nodding slowly. "Then, Little Friend Ren, welcome to our sect."
He wasn’t sure whether to treat the title sincerely or ironically, but he kept his voice neutral.
"And if it is not a burden to speak of, may I ask what matter has brought you to our sect?"
Xie Ren raised his right hand and traced a lazy arc through the air, as though directing the wind itself.
"I was guided by the winds," he said with a straight face. "They whispered to me that I would find my fourth disciple in this very place."
Su Jie blinked.
"Winds? Disciple?" he echoed, confused.
Before he could ask further, Elder Zi leaned in slightly and whispered from the side, "My lord, he claims... those three young women are his disciples."
Su Jie froze.
"Disciples?" he repeated, this time in disbelief. He glanced at the three beautiful young women standing silently behind Xie Ren, each a Golden Core powerhouse.
Su Jie’s eyes narrowed slightly as he probed Xie Ren with his spiritual sense once more. Qi Refinement stage. Absolutely no disguises, no seals. Just... a normal cultivator?
Yet those women stood behind him like guards, disciples, and followers. The kind of reverence only given to a sage or someone of heaven-shaking background.
What in the world is going on here?
