Supreme Master: Cultivation Starts After Recruiting SSS-Grade Talent-Chapter 49 - Truth
Xie Ren glanced down at the tiny fairy perched lightly on his shoulder. This little spirit had spoken confidently before, saying healing Su Roulan’s broken meridians would be a simple task.
Now, Xie Ren asked, "Now that I’ve accepted her as my disciple, how exactly do we fix those broken meridians?"
The fairy’s delicate voice chimed softly.
[Lord Immortal should let Disciple Su Roulan drink the Mystic Physique Evolution Elixir. Then, help her circulate the elixir throughout her veins.]
Xie Ren raised a curious eyebrow. "Oh? Can this elixir really fix broken meridians?"
The fairy shook her tiny head.
[No, it can’t fix broken meridians directly. But it works on a special kind of physique like hers.]
[She has the rare Phoenix Nirvana Body. When she drinks the elixir, it will speed up her evolution, rebuilding the hidden damage and reconstructing her damaged meridians bit by bit. It’s like a caterpillar shedding its cocoon and becoming a butterfly.]
Xie Ren tapped his fingers thoughtfully against the small bottle of elixir, then looked over at Su Roulan with a calm smile.
"Since you’re now my disciple," he said softly, "this will be your gift for apprenticeship."
He gestured gracefully with one hand. "Drink it, then sit down and meditate."
Su Roulan gladly accepted the bottle. The bottle was plain, no fancy designs or glowing runes, yet something in Xie Ren’s calm gaze gave her reassurance. She nodded and carefully uncorked it.
A faint, sweet fragrance drifted out, like fresh dew and blooming petals stirred by a gentle spring breeze. The scent was light but somehow comforting.
Su Jie stood nearby, arms crossed, his brow deeply furrowed. He watched closely, noting the lack of any sharp medicinal scent.
Over his many years, he had learned to recognize the signs of deadly toxins or powerful medicines. But this elixir was unlike anything he had smelled before.
Still, he said nothing, choosing to wait and see.
Su Roulan took a deep breath, then tipped her head back and drank the entire contents in one smooth motion.
Slowly, she lowered herself onto the floor, folding her legs beneath her in a steady meditation posture. Her eyes closed gently, and her breathing slowed, deep and even.
At first, nothing happened. The room remained still.
Then, very faintly, the air around her began to shimmer. It was like tiny waves of heat rising from a sun-baked stone.
She flinched as a soft warmth began to spread through her limbs. It started gently, a faint glow beneath her skin, then grew stronger, flowing deeper inside her body.
The feeling spread through her veins, awakening parts she hadn’t sensed in months.
Her broken meridians, silent for so long, began to stir like dragons awakening from a long, deep sleep.
Suddenly, her body trembled violently.
Her skin lost its natural color, paling until it looked almost ghostly white. Her lips drained of color, turning faint and lifeless.
And then, to everyone’s shock, her hair began to change.
Strand by strand, the rich dark locks dulled, and her hair whitened, turning cold and brittle like silk touched by frost.
In just moments, she looked as if she had aged decades in the blink of an eye.
"Roulan!" Su Jie’s voice cracked like a whip as he rushed forward, panic flooding his features. "What did you do to her?!"
He reached out instinctively, but stopped mid-motion, startled by what he felt.
A fierce heat pulsed from deep within Roulan’s body, an intense, burning energy unlike anything Su Jie had ever sensed.
It wasn’t the sharp, destructive blaze of fire, but something different. Still, Su Jie’s heart hammered with terror.
"Her life force is slipping away!" he shouted, voice filled with dread.
"Calm down," Xie Ren said. "She’s evolving."
"Evolving?!" Su Jie’s words were filled with disbelief and horror. "Her hair has turned white, she looks like an old woman!"
Xie Ren gave a slow nod. "You should know better than anyone the truth about her bloodline and that rare physique she carries."
Su Jie flinched, the words striking him hard.
"You don’t share her elemental nature," Xie Ren continued, as if speaking of a simple fact. "This special physique... it must have come from her mother."
Su Jie’s eyes darkened, widening as he stared at Xie Ren. "Who exactly are you?"
But Xie Ren ignored the question, turning his gaze back to Su Roulan, who now trembled slightly in the middle of the hall.
"Her mother must be someone of great power and lineage," Xie Ren said quietly.
Su Jie’s expression hardened. His lips pressed into a thin, tight line. He said nothing.
Roulan had never met her mother. Not once had she seen her face or heard her voice. He had raised her alone, sheltering her from the unknown with endless care. But whenever she asked about her mother, he would avoid answering directly and say things like, "She’s gone far away."
When she pushed harder, demanding answers, he would only sigh and murmur, "I’ll tell you when you’re older."
Till this day, he had never once truthfully told her about her mother.
Xie Ren asked. "When will you finally tell her?"
But Su Jie did not answer. His eyes darkened, lost in memories too painful to speak aloud.
Seeing no response, Xie Ren fell silent, stepping closer to Roulan. The girl sat trembling, surrounded by waves of unstable energy that flickered and danced like restless flames.
Without waiting, he knelt beside her and gently placed his palm against her back.
He closed his eyes, and a soft breeze of green wind energy spiraled from his body, weaving into the faint golden light flickering inside Roulan’s core.
The trembling slowed. Her spine straightened. Her ragged breaths smoothed into a steady, calm rhythm.
And then, Boom!
A radiant golden light erupted from within Su Roulan’s body like a sun awakening after a long winter.
In an instant, the great hall was filled with a howling wind, as if the heavens themselves had been stirred.
Spiritual energy, thick and vibrant, rushed in from all directions, flooding into her meridians, once shattered and lifeless, was now brimming with vitality.
