Chapter 240: Second Haunting Memory Of A Supreme Paragon (7-Final)

With eyes laced with exhaustion, Michael made his way towards a special place. His hand firmly gripped the remains of the slain Titan, leaving a bloody trail in its wake.

"I am back."

A soft sigh escaped his lips. When he lifted his gaze, it landed on a beautiful tree stretching several hundred meters. Its branches curved gracefully to one side, casting a gentle shade beneath which two white stones with engraved patterns rested.

This was the humble spot Michael had chosen to bury Nicole and their unborn daughter.

As warriors of humanity, they had discussed what they wanted to be done with their bodies when they fell in battle. It was an unpleasant consideration, though a necessary one, as the lives of soldiers were often extinguished at a moment’s notice without any kind of warning.

Nicole’s wish was roughly the same as Michael’s.

With his newfound powers, he could literally change landscapes in a flash. Order countless humans to build a grand palace in their name, or create a staggering field all for her to rest.

But... She did not have such grand ambitions when it came to her death. All she wanted was to be buried in soil, preferably with a shade cast over it.

Simple by nature, just like their ancestors had been doing in the distant past.

Upon their graves, Michael had placed two roses each, crimson in color. This was his choice, not Nicole’s, since the vivid color of the beautiful flower reminded him of her striking eyes.

With an unreadable expression, Michael sat on a nearby rock, placed the body of the Titan in front of him, and instantly lit it up in fire.

"..."

The gentle crackling of a burning flame echoed in the tense silence, which had begun to stretch.

"I know this comes far too late and is far too little... Still, I bring you your killer, and with it the end of their entire civilization."

His lips trembled momentarily.

"So even though it’s selfish, perhaps unforgivably so, I wish... I can only hope that whatever you are now, you’ll one day find the strength to forgive me for not being there when you needed me most."

His breathing hitched.

"I miss you."

Unable to utter another sound, he glanced at the tree.

’Look at me. Even now, at the very moment I must lay them to rest, my mind goes completely blank. Ah... I truly don’t deserve a single thing.’

Still unsure how to proceed, his eyes suddenly narrowed, making out a silhouette amidst the burning flames ravaging the Titan’s body.

With a wave of his hand, Michael attacked the outline.

Only for the strike to pass through it, like a mirage.

Frowning, Michael rose to his feet, his eyes gleaming with a dangerous edge.

How did he miss the presence of this man? Why is there virtually no spiritual energy emitting from his body?

Countless questions flooded his brain. At the end, the question Michael chose to ask was:

"Who are you?"

Taking steady steps, a male figure emerged. His eyes and face were obscured by black hair, yet the sinister smile that spread across his lips made his intentions unmistakably hostile.

"Such a question... one every person asks at least once."

With the haunting memory over. The sounds of the molten lava gradually reached Michael’s ears. His nostrils flared, breathing in the smoke around him.

All the injuries that had scarred his body were completely gone. His heart and blood vessels were fully restored, and his skull and bones were perfectly aligned. Even the slightest trace of exhaustion had vanished.

Slowly, his eyes opened. First, he flipped over and took several bites out of the Monarch’s corpse, gaining 200 skill points, which he immediately invested into strength. Then he focused on the notifications that had begun to cloud his vision.

[You have achieved a breakthrough!]

[Late Master → Peak Master]

[You have achieved enlightenment!]

[Peak Master → Early Grandmaster]

[You have achieved a breakthrough!]

[Early Grandmaster → Middle Grandmaster]

By capitalizing on the opportunity, Michael had absorbed the spiritual energy of the lifeless Monarch beneath him, advancing his realm. Now it rivaled Victoria, Claire, and Richard.

And that wasn’t his only gain.

[Spirit Surge has evolved!]

[Spirit Surge → Spirit Radiance]

[Technique: Spirit Radiance]

[Rank: Epic]

[Description: The longer you cultivate, the more effectively you can absorb the spiritual energy around you. Currently, it increases your cultivation by 5,000%.]

Thanks to the potent spiritual energy in the air, his technique, Spirit Surge, leveled up multiple times in just a few minutes, eventually evolving into Spirit Radiance. From this point on, the system no longer displayed levels for the technique, signaling that further improvement would be much more difficult.

Eagerly, Michael inspected his status.

Name: Michael

• Spirit: 1,800,000

Skill Points: 0

Upon reaching the Middle Grandmaster realm, his base attributes had risen by roughly 2,000 skill points. Thanks to the extra 2,000 points he had reserved and spent before facing the giant machine, his agility had now skyrocketed past 7,000 points!

In the span of a dozen minutes, his speed had almost tripled while his strength and stamina doubled. That didn’t even count the fact that his Spirit was now soaring with power and his Mind attained newfound levels of clarity.

Rising to his feet, Michael glanced at his palms, feeling familiar power coursing through his veins.

However, he didn’t feel much joy at this moment. Even if he had become used to the nightmares of his prior life, it still darkened his mood significantly.

’No distractions.’

Forcing his heart to calm down, his expression returned to its stoic nature.

With steady steps he leaped from the alien’s corpse, his feet floating above the lava.

Cracking his neck, his eyes, which now blazed crimson with the Warlock technique activated, gazed at the 500-meter towering machine that was fighting against the second Monarch.

A menacing smile tugged at his lips, recalling the two devastating attacks the robot had hurled at him.

It was time for payback.
