[Technique: Perfect Senses]
[Rank: Legendary] 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
[Description: By refining your sensory perceptions to the level of those from a higher realm, you are granted absolute mastery over your physique.]
Gasp!
Bearing witness to the technique in full effect, Michael couldn’t help but inhale sharply.
While Perfect Vision had proved useful until now, it had obviously been hindered. Only one of his five senses had been sharpened after all, leading to a reduced effect. Like a car with only a single running tire.
However, now it was a different matter. With all five of his senses refined, a new world opened up to him, akin to looking into another dimension.
Senses, while part of every normal living being, were often misunderstood. With most soldiers not paying them enough attention. After all, senses were all about feeling things. How could it impact fighting abilities?
The grin on Michael’s face widened as he clenched his palm into a fist.
His sight, hearing, smell, and even taste had all been enhanced, sharpening his perception of the world. With the technique being of Legendary rank, his senses now rivaled those of a realm above his own. As a Late Grandmaster, Michael could perceive everything an Absolute Lord was capable of.
But perhaps, it all paled in comparison to his enhanced touch. Until now, Michael had been like a cripple, unable to fully unlock his body’s full potential. But with his senses refined, he could feel every muscle, every bone, every fiber of his being, urging him to push his physique to its limits.
Of course, he had achieved even greater sensory awareness in his previous life. However, a considerable amount of time had passed since then, and his brain was processing the new information as if it were fresh.
Aware of the risk of overwhelming his mind, he took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and began to focus on each of his senses individually.
Like a baby learning to walk, this was not a process to be rushed. Though, given his past experience with heightened awareness, he knew it wouldn’t take long to adapt to his new reality.
’New reality...’ He chuckled softly. ’If I’d kept Devil’s Tongue summoned, the weapon would have no doubt asked me if I was high.’
As such, while his teammates were busy comprehending their new techniques, Michael slowly gained superior mastery over his body.
Due to their high cultivation realm, they didn’t require much sleep nor nutrients to keep themselves functioning. So it was decided to not stop their comprehension until full completion.
With the cultivation room being soundproof, the days flew by as everyone remained immersed in their individual studies.
Bryce, having refused to master any new techniques with the excuse of ’you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,’ wasn’t in the chamber in order to not interrupt the process.
Meanwhile, Cyberfang had curled up around Michael in a protective manner, its vigilant sensors scanning for any danger that could potentially threaten the crew.
Eventually, there was movement in the room as Victoria’s eyes slowly opened, carrying with them a new kind of understanding.
With a soft exhale, she conjured a ball of flames in her palm.
Not long after, Claire awoke as well, her gaze settling on the small inferno.
"Beautiful..." She whispered.
A smug smile spread across Victoria’s face, clearly proud.
Once done, Richard abruptly stood up.
"Hey!"
Fearlessly he pointed towards his chest.
"You know what to do!"
With a sigh, Victoria extended her hand forward. Using a portion of her spiritual energy, she sent the flames in the form of a fireball.
The fire collided with Richard’s body, but the thin protective layer he had created negated the impact, leaving him unharmed.
"Now this is what I am talking about!" He laughed.
With an arched brow, Enzo hit his two gauntlets together.
"Oh yeah? Take that!"
Instantly, he unleashed two blasts of energy towards Richard, carrying the same power as a close-range strike.
"Still weak, boy!" Richard grinned menacingly. "First reach my realm before thinking of challenging me!"
Clicking his tongue, Enzo glanced at Amelia.
"How are things on your end?"
With a faint smile, she gently created an electric wave between her fingers.
Meanwhile, Ava was busy running in circles around the room, so swiftly that even the awakened Grandmasters had to focus with all of their senses in order to make out her blurry form.
"HAHAHA! No one would be catching me again!" She declared proudly.
"Think again!"
Out of nowhere Ruby appeared and took her in a tight embrace.
"You didn’t sense me until it was too late, did you?" Ruby giggled, her tail swaying playfully from side to side.
Wordlessly, Leo took an old coin and flicked it effortlessly toward the upper corner of the room, precisely striking the spot where the walls met.
"Good." He whispered.
At that moment, Cyberfang rose and circled around Claire, clearly drawn to her by her new technique. Despite not being designed to affect mechanical beasts, it still had a surprisingly powerful impact.
It was clear... Everyone had reached the next level.
Gradually, all eyes turned to the only person still meditating in the room.
Michael, however, didn’t linger for long and slowly stood up. While the rest of the crew had used the time to comprehend one ability each, he had mastered four and synergized them into a single Legendary technique! Not to mention, they had only grasped the theory, lacking practical experience, while he had spent all this time using it nonstop.
Not knowing that, Richard was about to tease Michael for taking the longest... Until their eyes met.
Michael’s gaze... No, his entire presence had grown sharper. He was still a Grandmaster, yet everyone in the room began to doubt their senses. His aura was now indistinguishable from that of the Lords they had seen until now.
Victoria’s eyes narrowed.
’His eyes have changed... so maybe an ability that improves his sight? But then why is his whole presence more dominant? What kind of technique creates such a change?’
She began to realize that guessing what cybernetic Michael had bought was going to be harder than anticipated.
"Do you want me to test your defenses?" Michael asked Richard calmly.
Gulping audibly, the man grew serious for the first time, dropping into a defensive stance with his arms raised protectively.
"Do it."
With a nod, Michael vanished from their sight.
But unlike the other times, he didn’t use Blink, Dash, or Warlock. There were no extra techniques at play... Just his natural mastery over his body.
A second later, he appeared where Richard stood. The man had slid back until his back hit the wall, smoke rising from the spot where Michael’s strike had landed. Cracks spread across Richard’s defense, just a moment away from breaking completely.
"And to think you held back." Richard chuckled nervously, glancing at his trembling arms.
"Monster... as usual."
With a faint smile, Michael observed the crew’s progress, nodding a moment later.
"Excellent work. Now get ready. Battle is coming."
Since his enhanced senses allowed him to perceive things they couldn’t. Victoria wasn’t able to grasp what Michael was talking about... Until the loud sound of a siren echoed across the entire warship.
The second alien wave was approaching, bringing with it more than fifty Overlords...
And a Monarch leading the fleet.
