Survive As The Brute's Wife-Chapter 163: Telling The Truth
"The Great Father?" Marcus opened his eyes wide and looked at Alexandra. He was lost for words and stared at Alexandra for a good long time not knowing what to say.
He had a lot of questions and he didn’t know where to start.
"Come on, now, Iorhael," Alexandra looked at Iorhael with a glare that was filled with affection. "Why are you making a little boy panic?"
"I am not panicked!" Marcus shook his head. "No!" he placed the cutleries on the table. "I mean, Your Royal Highness, Umm... Your Greatness!... Your Supreme-"
"Come on, Marcus! I wouldn’t mind it even if you call me by my name. So don’t start addressing me differently." She said and Marcus nodded.
Their lunch ended with Alexandra listening to Iorhael’s travels. Alexandra was impressed by the extent of the creations she is not familiar with. She was much more interested in the realm of humans and didn’t bother to know about anything else.
Alexandra met with the Queen and although she was not impressed with Alexandra very much, she didn’t forgo basic formality. Theodus talked with her and Alexandra apologized once more to Freda and Ailwyn for what she did in the past.
There was some entertainment arranged and in the evening they all had dinner together.
After that, they got settled in a guest house for the night. Alexandra opted to stay with Iorhael because she wanted to talk to him about many stuff.

Maximus sat by the window and stared at the moon. The moon didn’t look so bright although it was full. His heart was filled with worry. After that day, Flavia did come to check on him, but after scaring her away a couple more times, Julius forbade her from visiting him.
His army is reaching for the great deserts. The visions he once saw repeated at times, and he could clearly see that it was in the golden sands of the Samah Arav desert, he breathed his last as Alexandra’s sword went through his heart.
He looked at the moon once again. A dark cloud was creeping closer to the moon trying to hide its beauty. But as if the moon didn’t want to be covered it moved away. I was probably the wind, but for him as the observer, it appeared as if the moon had decided that it won’t remain covered anymore.
«Just like my love decided to show herself to the world...»
His lips curved up unknowingly. He didn’t know why his jaws hurt by smiling though. Probably, it is because the only times he smiles are when he remembers her. And that is always.
His eyes ended up at the moon once again, and his hands trailed over the windowsill. She loved to sit here when the moon is full and he loved sitting behind her, hugging and doing other things.
But she is not here anymore. He missed her so much.
He got reminded of the conversation he had very long time ago. Looking at the moon, she said that the moon wants to be left alone and that the moon is shy.
He didn’t know why, but the last time he saw her face in the Temple came to his mind. She looked sad. She must have been sad because she didn’t want to leave him.
Or there could be another reason for it?
«Does she know she has to kill me? Could it be possible that this is the only life we could be together and we are wasting it on revenge?»
Maximus thought about it for some time. Suddenly his feelings of revenge didn’t seem like the most important thing. He could have had her in his arms and let her do what she wants rather than getting back at Luke.
«Is revenge worth losing the time we spend together? Now, she is there with arioch and I am here crying alone... Were our priorities wrong?»
But then he disregarded that thought. There is no reason for trying to change what has happpned. It is what he always wanted to do and she agreed with him on it. She is doing what she is supposed to do.
And once his army reaches the desert, he will have to reach the desert and be prepared... to die.

The moonlight seeping in through the leaves of the fragrant sandalwood trees, was having a blue hue. Even the moon looked blue in the elvish land. The gentle breeze sang gentle lullabies as Alexandra and Iorhael sat to drink some wine while Marcus offered his service as the cupbearer.
Marcus poured another glass of wine for Alexandra. He felt so guilty for thinking bad about her. If she is the Great Father and she is with the traitor of the Lethusian Empire for some reason, there should be a reason for it.
"Do you know the story of the Dagwood Maiden, Marcus?" Alexandra asked.
She could see that Marcus wants to talk about something to her. so she started first.
For her, who was pondering deeply about Maximus, now has found a way to get what she wants.
And she has been ruminating about the changes in Marcus’ attitude. And now that Iorhael revealed some things about Marcus to her, she has some plans for Marcus. And those plans include saving Maximus. For that, Marcus needs to know the whole story about her. He might be a child, but he is not a little child. He has enough brilliance to understand what she is about to tell her.
It is time for Marcus to be treated as an adult.
"I know," Marcus said.
Iorhael looked at Alexandra and although he didn’t know of the story, he kept his silence. She seemed serious and he wanted to let her do what she wants to do.
"This was a myth made up by the one you all call the Great King," Alexandra said.
"Was the Great King not a nice man, Your Royal Highness?" Marcus asked. After spending a lot of time with Alexandra and talking a lot, he could understand that was the case.
"No," Alexandra patted his shoulder and asked him to sit beside her. She realized it was wrong of her to treat Marcus as a boy all the time. He is a very clever young man.
"Do you know about the story of the Knights who suffered Damnatio Memorae by your Great King?" she asked. "And the place that used to be called Mound Begida?"
"I know," Marcus affirmed. But he didn’t dare to speak further. He wanted to know the truth. He somehow wanted to know if his family is connected with all these.
"One of the Knights was me," Alexandra said.
Marcus was not very surprised by that. He already knew that she was the Drovarys and not the Great King. And so there must have been something wrong there.
"And the other one was called Maximillian Zoros," she said and Marcus’ eyes widened.
"I called him Tubby and he was my best friend," she said. "And yes, he was from your family."
Alexandra then proceeded to tell him everything that happened to her in her past life, sparing the details about her love life. Marcus is too young to know about the complicated love life she had. But she said that she considered Luke as her friend but he used her and then abandoned her.
Iorhael observed her and he got the details he needed. He could see that there are a lot of memories hidden inside her. He didn’t know if it was by her own volition, or if something else is preventing her from accessing those memories.
"If one of my family member suffered such a betrayal, how come my family became a prominent member in the court of the Great King?" Marcus asked.
Hie eyes were rimmed red and she could hear his erratic heartbeat. That boy probably knows the answer and is asking her this question just to affirm himself.
"Your family was the neighbor to where my grandfather lived, and they betrayed him to the King to make him an example. And in return for betraying their neighbor to their King, the Zoros family got the prominent role in his court."
Alexandra did not spare the details from Marcus. Sometimes holding back the details to save the other pseson from getting hurt, will not give the results one would expect. Being truthful works always. And she knew that Marcus could understand the nuances here.
Marcus sat there frozen for some time.
Alexandra rubbed his back. "You now realize why your grandfather spoke so strictly about betrayal, don’t you?"
"I do," Marcus nodded. His eyes watered and he clenched his fists hard. With his shaking voice, he said, "I am so ashamed to have born from such a lowly-"
"Don’t feel bad for what your ancestor did, Marcus," Alexandra spoke in a soft voice and interjected him. "To make you feel bad or to get an apology from you is not my intention." She wanted him to know that. "I want to tell you everything because I want you to know the truth. You’ve been wondering why I have been working with Arioch, don’t you?" She asked.
Marcus looked at her. "I am sorry for doubting you," he said, and Alexandra wiped the tears dropping from his eyes.
"Don’t be."
