Surviving in a School of Ghost Stories-Chapter 64
My heart started to race. I checked my pocket watch again. The time was still 11:25.
It seemed best to go out into the hallway, gather Team 1 and Christine, and look for the mirror together.
I made a conscious effort to ignore the students sitting in the classroom and opened the front door of the classroom.
To be precise, I put strength into opening the door, but it didn’t budge.
In that case, I’ll have to use the back door.
Turning around, I froze in place.
All the students who had been sitting at their desks in the classroom had stood up.
I swallowed hard and looked at the back door. I was calculating the distance to see if I could escape before the mysterious students lunged at me.
‘If I run with all my might, I think I can make it...’
I took a deep breath and sprinted with all my strength.
I grabbed the doorknob of the back door and turned it, but the back door wouldn’t open either.
‘Ah, no!’
But the silence behind me was overwhelming.
An ominous feeling ran through my entire body.
Turning slowly, I saw twelve students gathered behind me, staring at me.
Their eyes were wide open.
Aaaaahhhh—
They all simultaneously opened their mouths toward me. Their jaws stretched downward endlessly.
I swallowed my scream and gritted my teeth.
They grabbed my body. Just like before, they pulled at me as though they were going to tear me apart. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for the pain that was sure to come.
That’s when it happened.
Thud—
“Over here!”
Someone grabbed my arm and pulled me.
When I regained my senses, I found myself in a ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) corner of the hallway, and the person who had pulled me out was Leonard.
“How did you get here?”
Panting and looking tense, Leonard glanced at me as he looked down the hallway.
“I followed you, what do you mean?”
“You went back into the mirror?”
I asked in surprise. It was an unexpected answer.
“I told you, how could I leave without the lady?”
Leonard had more loyalty than I had expected.
“What about the others?”
“They probably went to ask for help.”
“Is that just a guess?”
Leonard nodded while continuing to scan the hallway.
“Yeah. I didn’t have time to check since I followed you into the mirror. But if they’re sane, they would’ve gone for help. Wellington didn’t seem like an idiot.”
“Wait, you saw the whole thing?”
“What? You getting caught and disappearing by ‘them’? Yeah, I saw it. Damn. I have no idea what’s going on. Then you disappeared, and I had a hell of a time searching for you.”
I realized that after being devoured by those things on the first basement floor, I had woken up in some unknown cave.
But Leonard seemed to think that I hadn’t been eaten by them, but had just disappeared after being caught.
“But aren’t those ‘them’ Team 1?”
Leonard pointed a hand toward the hallway. Only then did I remember Christine and Team 1, who must be in the hallway.
Christine was checking the condition of the Team 1 students who had collapsed.
Fortunately, the students from Class 5-F hadn’t left the classroom.
“Let’s go.”
“Is there a way to get out of here? I’ve been all over, and I couldn’t find an exit, let alone a banquet hall.”
He had been all over? But Leonard seemed fine, which was puzzling.
But I set that question aside for now and focused on what needed to be done first.
Finding the medium and the portal was the priority. The mirror was definitely playing some role, whether it was a medium or a portal.
For now, the mirror was the key.
“We need to find the mirror. And I’m here, don’t worry.”
“What?”
“I’m going to save everyone and catch the evil spirit that caused these ghost stories.”
“What confidence do you have?”
“Let’s go.”
“Hey, hey...!”
I ignored Leonard’s call and walked down the hallway.
Oliver, hiding in a cabinet, was holding his breath with his team members.
He had nearly been caught by a mysterious student and was about to face the same fate as Team 1.
But thanks to a platinum-haired girl who appeared out of nowhere, the attention of "those things" was diverted.
They had barely escaped the stairs and were now hiding in the music room’s cabinet.
Ding—
A sound came from somewhere.
Ding ding—
It was the sound of piano keys being pressed.
Peering through the crack in the cabinet door, Oliver saw that the lid of the upright piano in the corner of the music room was closed.
There was no sign of anything unusual, and no traces of people.
‘Just survive and get out of here. If I do, I’ll write an exclusive article about this.’
If they survived, it would be a scoop. Since it was something he experienced firsthand, he could write the article vividly.
Ding—
Once again, the sound of piano keys pressing.
Oliver peeked through the crack in the cabinet again.
‘Huh?’
The lid of the upright piano was still closed, and there was no one in front of it.
But when he looked again, someone was sitting in front of the piano.
‘Damn, what is this? Who is it?’
The team member hiding with Oliver whispered with a quivering voice.
“Oliver, do you think they found us? Can we make it out alive?”
Oliver felt like crying too. They couldn’t even leave the cabinet, so they had to stay trapped here.
Yeah. Maybe they should just wait until morning.
Just as Oliver had made that decision, he suddenly heard the woman at the piano muttering.
He’s arrived.
It’s midnight.
Oliver looked at the clock hanging above the blackboard through the crack in the cabinet.
The time on the clock showed 11:54.
There were only six minutes left until midnight.
‘He’s arrived. Who is he?’
No matter how hard Oliver tried, he couldn’t guess who "he" was that "those things" were referring to.
But soon, Oliver realized that he wouldn’t be able to avoid knowing who he was.
Because through the dark window, a giant eye appeared.
A huge blue eye spun and turned toward the cabinet where Oliver and his team member were hiding.
Oliver gasped in shock.
‘XX, what is that?’
Moreover, the music room was now filled with students.
They were all standing, facing the cabinet where Oliver was hiding, just like the giant blue eye.
Thump-thump-thump-thump—
His heart started pounding wildly in fear.
‘Ah, it’s still not midnight...’
As Oliver had said, the time was still 11:57 PM.
Would the giant blue eye come inside once it hit midnight?
“Wait, I think I saw something like this in Johannes’ Safety Guidelines for High School Students.”
The team member, who had been holding his breath and whispering, suddenly said this.
At that moment, Oliver remembered something and hastily pulled out a paper to look it over.
If you end up in the music room during a courage test, keep one thing in mind.
⌎The entities in the music room are sensitive to sound. If you hear the sound of instruments being played, it’s probably not their choice. Please help stop the noise immediately.
After reading the guidelines, Oliver felt a chill run down his spine.
To follow the instructions, he would have to open the cabinet, go out, and break all the instruments. That’s the only way to stop the noise.
He’s arrived.
It’s midnight.
Someone in the music room muttered again.
When Oliver checked again, the time was 11:57 PM.
Damn.
In the end, Oliver and his team member opened the cabinet and stepped out.
But the instruments that should have been there had suddenly disappeared.
When they regained their senses, Oliver and his team member were standing in the middle of the music room.
And when they regained their senses again, they saw the students filling the room, standing with them.

“W-what is this...”
The students all simultaneously lifted their heads, stared at Oliver, and grinned.
Before he could scream in shock at their wide-open eyes, a white cloth flew through the air and covered his vision.
He froze, unable to move a single step as though paralyzed by fear.
It felt like there were many people around him, all wearing the same cloth as he was.
And it was then that Oliver realized.
The guidelines were a trap. A trap to lure them out of the cabinet.
The small comment under the guidelines seemed odd.
It was something he had never seen before, and it was now trapping them in a dangerous situation.
