Surviving in a School of Ghost Stories-Chapter 78
I cleared the bookshelf and helped the student to their feet before turning back the way we came.
Kaaah-!
The seaweed-haired ghost let out a monstrous shriek as it chased after us.
When I glanced back, I saw it crawling toward us, its body turned upside down like a spider.
Its face dangled upside down, swaying grotesquely. It was a chilling and bizarre sight.
"Ahhh! What do we do?!"
The girl I was helping cried out in panic. That snapped me back to reality, and I hurriedly moved forward, guiding her.
Just a little more.
Just a little more.
The girl, limping due to a twisted ankle, slowed us down, and time kept slipping away.
Grrrgh-
The eerie sound came from right behind us.
The girl I was helping stumbled again, and we both fell.
‘Ah. This is it.’
I turned around. It was right there.
The ghost reached out its long, gaunt hand toward us.
‘Right. The lantern.’
I quickly threw the lantern at it, trying to attack, but—
Kraak!
Just in time, Noah-sunbae rushed out and stopped the ghost in its tracks.
Move.
Noah-sunbae’s command snapped me out of my daze, and I grabbed the lantern again, helping the girl and moving forward.
At that moment, Leonard, having finished guiding the students out, ran back and helped support the girl.
Raven, somehow having found a spare candle, handed it to me.
"Sis, give me the lantern."
I handed the lantern over without thinking, and he opened the glass door, transferring the flame to the candle.
Then, with the candle in hand, he dashed toward the seaweed-haired ghost facing off with Noah-sunbae.
"Wait, Raven!"
Before I could stop him, Raven threw the candle at the ghost.
Whoosh—!
The ghost’s body caught fire.
Noah-sunbae and Raven quickly turned around and ran toward me.
Together, we made our way out the door, and Eastern, waiting outside, quickly shut it behind us.
Huff, huff.
I collapsed to the floor, gasping for breath. I felt like I was going to die from exhaustion.
Fsssh—
The candle in the lantern I was holding turned to dust and disappeared, and at the same time, a sharp pain shot through my forearm.
When I saw the cross tattoo appear and fade away, I finally relaxed.
The evil spirit was gone.
Since the medium was ‘fire,’ the lantern belonging to Sister Gloria remained.
"Sis, are you okay? What is all of this?"
Raven, looking completely confused, grilled me.
"I thought the courage test incident was just a coincidence, but now I see it wasn’t. What have you been doing? What’s with the cat? And why aren’t you even fazed by all this?"
"I’ve been through things like this before. Hah. Hah. You’ve been avoiding me all this time, haven’t you, Raven?"
I wiped the sweat off my forehead, still panting.
"So, you asked me to leave because of this?"
At his question, I nodded. Raven furrowed his brows, looking like he might cry, and clenched his mouth shut.
"I... I didn’t even know..."
Seeing Raven tear up, I wanted to reach out and wipe his tears away.
But I couldn’t muster the strength in my hand.
‘Ugh, this weak body...!’
As if waiting for it, blood started dripping from my nose.
I couldn’t even reach out; I just collapsed onto the floor.
My vision went black.
Again. Again...!

"Guys, did you hear the ghost story from last night? The rumor that Melody Hastings can see ghosts seems to be # Nоvеlight # true."
⌎Why does all the fun stuff always happen when I’m not around?
⌎Is this fun for you? I was in the library yesterday, and I almost died.
⌎I saw a ghost too. It wasn’t just Hastings. All the students there saw it.
⌎Or maybe Hastings has been cursed? Everyone who’s involved with her seems to see ghosts.
⌎That’s rude. Thanks to Hastings, we survived last night.
⌎I think I finally understand the feelings of the F-Class students. Where can I join the Hastings fan club?
When I came to and got checked over, thankfully, there was nothing seriously wrong this time either.
I had simply overexerted myself due to poor stamina and fainted.
Raven stayed by my bedside until I woke up, but apparently, just when I woke up, it was time for school, so he had to leave.
‘We need to meet up and talk after school today.’
Anyway, after spending a day in the hospital, I was discharged the next morning and went straight to the disciplinary committee activity.
"Are you okay?"
Madox-sunbae asked me with a worried expression. I nodded tiredly without answering, then stopped a passing student.
"Hey, you, you don’t have a name tag."
When I called out, the student looked like they’d seen a ghost and scrambled to find their name tag in their pocket.
"Y-yeah, is this good? Can I go now?"
After that, even the troublemakers, who had been uncooperative with me before, apologized for their attire whenever I pointed it out.
‘Huh?’
The "girl who can see ghosts" title seemed to be more effective than I thought.
This is pretty good.
