Chapter 194: Eating Too Much (1)

Medeia didn’t even know how vast the gap was between an ordinary SSS-rank and Lucian’s SSS++. Even the system had never given a clear answer. Or maybe ... it didn’t know either.

Garick took several steps back, eyes narrowing. Then, without hesitation, he and the other soldiers attacked simultaneously, their swords cutting through the air in perfect sync.

From an outsider’s perspective, it almost looked like a beautifully choreographed dance and Medeia was the one who led them.

She twisted and spun, her body weaving through their blades with an elegance that made it seem effortless. Their swords clashed against each other, narrowly missing her heart, her throat, every vulnerable spot they aimed for.

Even without Lucian’s help, not a single blade could touch her.

[Countdown: 00:13:00]

Medeia had been having too much fun so much that she nearly lost track of time.

"Alright, I guess playtime’s over," she sighed, coming to an abrupt stop in the middle of the battlefield.

The soldiers saw their chance and seized it. Without hesitation, they lunged at her from all sides, their blades cutting through the mist, aiming straight for her heart.

But before steel could meet flesh, Medeia’s body lifted effortlessly into the air.

Some of the soldiers, unable to halt their momentum, ended up driving their swords straight into their own comrades. Pained cries echoed through the mist as their own hands became the cause of their downfall.

"Thanks, honey," Medeia cooed, throwing Lucian a teasing air kiss.

Then, with a wicked glint in her eyes, she stepped down onto the head of a fallen soldier, using it as leverage before she reached for the dying men, ripping their souls free with a touch. "What a delicious feast today," said her.

The soldiers had fallen one by one, their souls devoured by a demon, leaving the captain alone in the middle of the battlefield.

Garick sent all the swords flying toward Medeia, but once again, they suddenly bent in midair and clattered uselessly to the ground.

He clicked his tongue. The problem didn’t lie with her alone, it was the man who had been watching them from a distance the entire time. freēwēbnovel.com

Lucian picked up a few of the soldiers’ assault rifles scattered on the ground and inspected their quality.

"Not bad," he mused. "Your rifles are well-made. Do you manufacture your own weapons at your base?"

Garick didn’t answer. He had no time for questions because he was too busy trying to fend off the demon in front of him.

"The weapons," Garick gritted his teeth. "Do you really think you can keep them forever?! Our General will send more troops here! We’ll keep coming until your base is reduced to nothing but rubble!"

Medeia sighed, tapping her fingers against her sword hilt. The fight was getting dull. "You don’t need to worry about the future," she said, voice laced with boredom. "Because you won’t be alive to see it."

Before Garick could react, Lucian moved. In an instant, his body locked up, he couldn’t move, couldn’t even lift his weapon.

And then, without hesitation, Medeia drove her sword straight into his heart.

Garick’s breath hitched. His vision blurred. He had never considered, not even for a second, that his life would end like this—at the hands of someone he had dismissed as insignificant.

Medeia leaned in slightly, her voice a whisper against the dying captain’s ear. "Next time, think twice before walking into the den of people who can make 28 trained soldiers vanish without a trace."

A cold shudder ran through him, but before he could respond, his soul was ripped from his body.

Medeia straightened, licking her lips. "Alright. That makes thirty-five."

[Total Points Calculation ....]

[Ding! Ding! You have killed 35 evildoers: +4,200 XP, +875 coins]

[Ding! Ding! You have harvested 35 souls: +2,450 XP, +525 coins]

[Total: +6,650 XP, +1,400 Coins]

She had collected so many experience points, yet she still hadn’t leveled up?! The amount required to reach the next level kept increasing over time.

It seemed like Medeia had no choice—she had to grind for points by heading into the forest and slaying as many monsters as possible.

[You probably would have reached level 35 by now if you weren’t so lazy all the time, Host.]

[Look at yourself ... you’re basically stuck.]

Stuck?! How dare the system say she was stuck when she had already upgraded her demonic strength to Level 3.5 and gathered ... Wait, how many souls had she collected by now?

Oh, wow! Just look at those beautiful numbers!

Since she didn’t have any weapons she wanted to upgrade to Grade-S, Medeia figured she might as well use the souls to craft a brand-new legendary weapon.

"What do you want to do with their bodies?" Lucian asked as he walked toward her. His gaze lingered on her horns for a moment, like he was debating whether or not to touch them. In the end, he held himself back.

"Let’s cut off their heads," Medeia said lightly, as if she were discussing dinner plans. A small smile even appeared on her lips.

Lucian blinked. Once. Twice. "... Alright," he said slowly. Then, after a beat, "Why?"

"For a gift." Medeia’s grin widened. "Something special for their general. So next time, he’ll think twice before sending more men here."
