Surviving The Fourth Calamity-Chapter 822 - 618: The Sudden Attack of the Little Fairy Queen
Hill did not show any curiosity about Lynn’s brother.
Lis occasionally mentioned a few things, all proving the child’s extraordinary nature: he has now become the student of the only Level 40 Archmage in the Star Mountain Range, with a level reportedly already at Level 20.
No matter how outstanding Lynn’s brother is, Hill would never inquire about another Archmage’s situation; mages always maintain a certain distance and secrecy.
Actually, it’s all about not wanting peers to know what one’s trump card really is; if a mage can predict the enemy’s actions in advance during a battle, there’s practically no need to consider what failure is.
Just like Hill has been on the Toril Continent for so long, most people only think he’s mysterious. After all, when Hill makes a move, he mostly uses the power of Divine Artifacts. The Wind Magic and Radiant Orb that he frequently uses are definitely not his trump cards.
A Half-Elf, yet closely associated with the Father of Elves, anyone who believes he possesses no other Ninth Level Legendary Spells likely has intelligence inferior to Andreju.
Alessio carried a large wooden tray out and, seeing his wife introducing Lynn’s paintings to Hill, could only helplessly smile: "Lis, if you keep exposing Lynn’s flaws like this, even if he manages to enter the Supreme Forest with his strength, he probably won’t want to come back."
Lis said happily, "He makes it so I can’t see my son, so why not provide me some amusement?"
This lady’s overly confident tone made both her husband and the watching Hill silently pause. If she truly thinks this way, in the future... Lynn’s reputation might not only be tarnished in Hill’s presence.
Lis flipped open the last painting, making Hill gently smile in spite of himself.
It should depict the scene when Lynn resolved to leave the Supreme Forest for a journey, wearing a simple elf shirt and leather trousers, carrying a large backpack, with a determined gaze and firm expression. The longsword at his waist and the Ruth on his backpack were polished to shine.
That face already somewhat resembles today’s Lynn, yet still shows signs of innocence and youth, with a hint of baby fat.
"Come and have something to eat!" Alessio said with a smile, "When Lynn comes back, he’ll definitely argue with you."
Lis casually put the paintings back into that small box: "That’s good too, argue before leaving, argue again when coming home; it’s a start-to-finish thing."
Hill keenly noticed there were three more inside. Besides one particularly thick one, the others were about the same thickness as Lynn’s.
It’s pretty much like the past world, where his mom would place a dozen photo albums in the small chest drawer next to the couch. Unlike Lis’s painting album, Hill’s mom preferred using years to distinguish them.
When Hill was not home, his mom would, whenever she missed him, directly take the album to the coffee table and sit down to browse slowly.
With a soft, faintly bittersweet feeling in his heart, Hill followed Lis to the dining room.
Alessio, who had prepared the food, said helplessly: "You went around saying he can’t even brew Elf Wine properly, and that no one wants the vinegar he made, no wonder he’d argue with you!
He’s already been let go, why make his departure so unhappy?"
Lis pushed Hill to sit down, retorting sharply, "I’m unhappy, why should he be happy?"
Hill helplessly fixed his gaze on the food on the table, and it was as he expected, even the Elven Bread was the simplest kind, topped with a thick layer of cheese, the fruit salad likely mixed with yogurt and lemon juice.
The main dish was Silverfish, a specialty of the Supreme Forest. This fish is even scaleless and is savored by elves. Even back when the Supreme Forest was freely accessible, it was considered a delicacy, let alone now.
Hill had eaten Whitefish, a weaker version of Silverfish, in an elven restaurant. Even that had satisfied him greatly. If he hadn’t seen it here, he would almost have forgotten that the Supreme Forest’s Silverfish is the prototype.
Hill couldn’t help but blink, perhaps... before leaving the Supreme Forest, he should go to see that small waterfall in the Star Mountain Range.
Then came two large bowls full of roasted potatoes and corn kernels.
Two dipping sauces were placed beside them, one was a red fruit sauce made with spices from Ulgos and rare fruits from the Maztica Continent, somewhat resembling tomato sauce with added spices. The other dip was a Northern common sauce, predominantly spicy.
Seems like Alessio wasn’t sure of Hill’s taste, so he also prepared a backup in case Hill wasn’t used to the fruit sauce.
Hill felt he understood where Lynn’s meticulousness came from, fortunately, apart from his face, Lynn resembles his dad in other aspects.
Once Alessio was seated, Lis cheerfully exclaimed: "Let’s eat!"
Then she poured Hill a glass of Elf Wine: "Try it and see if you like it. In the Star Mountain Range, the fruit wine I brew is the most famous!"
Hill took a gentle sip; the wine Lis brewed tasted quite interesting, seemingly infused with her enthusiasm, making one feel a bit uplifted after drinking.
No wonder Lis claimed her wine is the best in the Star Mountain Range, as most Elf Wine matches the elves’ nature, although chaotic, it remains cold and seldom as passionately vibrant as this.
Then he unhesitatingly sliced a roast potato, scooping a spoonful of tomato sauce into his plate and dipped it slowly to eat.
That feeling... was truly a bit sad.
Damn, what kind of spice is that Mingjiali? Even garlic is better!
"It’s food from another continent. If you don’t like it, you can use hot sauce," Alessio said with a smile. "A lot of elves don’t like fruit sauce; they find it too pungent. But Lis got used to it while at sea, so we always carry the seeds of this fruit. It’s quite easy to grow various fruits here in the Star Mountain Range."
He didn’t mention spices at all. With Lis’s past status, if she really liked this fruit sauce, the Gar Family could definitely get a Seed Pouch, such a simple Strange Object.
Hill thought for a moment before asking, "I’ve been collecting seeds in Agleya City for a long time but it seems I’ve never seen this kind."
Lis laughed, "On the Ferun side, they’re not really interested in fruit sauce, mainly it’s liked on the Maztica side. I first tasted it when traveling everywhere on the Invincible ship with Mom.
Over there, they value these seeds greatly, and fruit sauce is one of their specialties. Fruits with seeds have never left the continent."
Lis displayed a nonchalant smile on her beautiful face, "Back then, the Elven Royal Fleet was the master of the seas. If I wanted seeds, even if they didn’t want to sell, they’d have to sell them to me.
Do you like exotic seeds? I’ve collected many seeds from other continents; I’ll share some with you."
Hill nodded gratefully, "Thank you, Lis."
In elf culture, when they host someone at home, it’s treating you as a true friend; no need for politeness, just sincerity.
Hill could feel Lis and Alessio’s genuine warmth and importance towards his son’s friend, so he tried to be more straightforward.
He took a bit of fruit salad, and upon tasting it, realized how many exotic fruits were in this seemingly ordinary salad.
This must be what Lis mentioned, specialties from other continents.
Hill quietly recalled in his mind what fruit seeds he could offer Lis. The seeds he kept by his side were all enhanced by the Seed Pouch, even ordinary fruits would taste much better.
Hill suddenly turned his head towards the northeast.
"What’s wrong?" Alessio asked, "Is there something happening over at the Treant Ancestral Court?"
They all understood, Hill must be closely connected with that somewhat different looking Otherworldly Whale. Otherwise, he wouldn’t let Purwell go out on his own with his Magic Tower.
"Fairy Queen..." Hill couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
"I was just about to ask, is Oberon planning to ditch his wife with countless internal affairs and run away with you?" Lis widened her eyes, moving closer to Hill, "I remember the Little Fairy Queen imprisoned Oberon for several centuries to prevent him from leaving! If not for the Windspirit Queen and the Half-Goat God flipping out, Oberon couldn’t leave her chamber.
She hasn’t attacked your home?"
"No." Hill replied simply, asking Purwell, who was watching the commotion in his Mental Sea, if he needed him to go over.
"That Queen probably isn’t as strong as Valkin." Alessio tugged his wife to sit properly, indicating not to disturb Hill. "She’s always been very pragmatic."
"Isn’t that just being cowardly? Why say it like it’s a compliment, that stingy little thing won’t pay you any benefits." Lis said disdainfully.
It seems elves really don’t like the current Queen of the Joyous Court, when the previous one got along well with them.
Hill thought about it again; maybe the previous one’s goodness made the current one seem particularly bad.
Humans might not notice, but elves with long lifespans could compare them side by side.
Purwell’s laughter almost shook his Mental Sea, and Hill gradually relaxed; it seems the unlucky one wasn’t Oberon.
"Don’t worry," Alessio comforted Hill, "Over at Lost Edge, it’s not just fairy spirits; many beings, surpassing Demigod Level, reside there.
They’ve been with that group of fairy spirits for two hundred years, always hearing them curse the Little Fairy Queen, with no goodwill towards her.
If Titania really thinks she can snatch people away there because you’re absent, she’ll probably end up being scratched all over her face."
Lis laughed loudly and suddenly bolted out the door.
"You’re originally an elf... should know their personalities..." Alessio explained helplessly, "She’s off to find a priest who can communicate with Treants, probably wanting to watch the spectacle."
Hill smiled and nodded.
It seems the priest able to communicate with Treants wasn’t fond of outsiders, otherwise Alessio and Lis would’ve included Hill in their outing.
There’s nothing much to worry about; as long as he knows there are people able to resist Titania, that’s enough. Oberon and Vila aren’t capable; before that throne, neither of them have the power to fight back.
