Sword of Salvation-Chapter 45: - Battle and Lunar Scythe (3)
Zagabob eliminated all the Magogs in just five minutes.
The demon was incredibly strong and impressive. His control over his power was exceptional. He turned his shields into weapons. The Magogs’ coordination was superb, but Zagabob effectively overcame everything.
"Your monsters are all gone. Now it’s your turn, Lasyana."
Lasyana snorted, staring sharply into the demon’s yellow eyes. "I wouldn’t be so sure if I were you," she said seriously.
Zagabob didn’t need to ask what the empress meant. The answer was clear when two monsters with faces similar to his appeared. The demon didn’t know if Lasyana intended to insult or praise him, but creating two monsters resembling him was highly irritating. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Your expression is very satisfying, Zagabob."
A vein popped on the demon’s temple. He immediately attacked Lasyana without thinking.
Earth golems sprouted from the ground like newly grown plants—there were more than twenty of them. Zagabob commanded the golems to confront Lasyana’s depraved monsters while simultaneously attacking the empress with the spiked shields in his hands.
"Lunar Scythe!"
Just two simple words, and Zagabob was flung backward by the silver energy that struck him.
At the same time, Lasyana used most of her remaining prana to create a giant dragon-shaped monster, complete with wings. She leaped onto the dragon’s head and commanded it to pursue Zagabob. She wouldn’t fight on the same footing as the demon. Lasyana would ensure her enemy was always at a disadvantage.
Zagabob spat blue blood from his mouth after slamming into a large rock for the second time. All his small shields were destroyed, but the demon wasn’t fatally wounded. However, if he got hit by Lunar Scythe again, he would collapse. Sacred weapons were truly dangerous to demons.
Zagabob was well aware of that.
That’s why he immediately created a giant earth golem and entered it. He covered the golem with hundreds of small shields. At the same time, hundreds of large earth spears appeared on either side of the golem. Zagabob’s high mastery of the earth element made the spears as hard as steel.
Zagabob raised the golem’s hands, sending all the spears shooting into the air. Their target was the dragon monster diving sharply at the golem.
Not wanting the spears to hit her dragon, Lasyana commanded the beast to evade. The dragon twisted and turned, avoiding the onslaught of spears before climbing back upward. At the same time, Lasyana swung her scythe again, unleashing Lunar Eclipse on the golem.
Dozens of giant shields immediately appeared between the golem and the silver energy released by the sacred scythe.
The shields blocked Zagabob’s view of Lasyana. The empress used this moment to leap off the dragon’s head and land behind the golem. She commanded the dragon to focus its attack on the front while she landed several meters behind the golem and filled her lungs with oxygen.
Perfectly converting her prana, Lasyana spewed massive flames. The flames surged like a towering wave, spreading rapidly and growing larger. In an instant, the golem was engulfed in flames.
Simultaneously, Lasyana’s dragon landed in front of the golem. As the giant shields disappeared along with the sacred scythe’s silver energy, the dragon attacked ferociously. Its sharp claws tore apart the small shields covering the golem’s body.
Inside the golem, Zagabob grew irritated by the attacks from both the front and back. His golem couldn’t last much longer. So he resorted to his only remaining option. He jumped out of the golem and created hundreds of shields as footholds to launch himself into the air.
After propelling himself hundreds of meters into the air, Zagabob dove sharply downward with both hands pressed together.
In an instant, thousands of pointed shields formed in the air and descended alongside Zagabob. Behind the shields appeared earth spears. With a powerful simultaneous strike, the shields’ speed increased exponentially. They fell like a rain of arrows.
Lasyana wasn’t amused by the sight above her. There was no way she could stop all the shields with fire, nor did she want to sacrifice her dragon by turning it into a shield. That left her with only one option.
"Silence the world in the emptiness of night. Annihilate all beneath the heavens. Lunar Oblivion!"
Lasyana unleashed nearly all her remaining prana, releasing a stronger Lunar Oblivion than before.
She didn’t know if Zagabob was prepared to face her attack, but she hoped the demon would perish. If he survived and they had to continue fighting, she would have no choice but to rely on her dragon and the two monsters that had returned from destroying the golems.
The silver energy, seemingly sweeping across the sky, was visible from afar. Lasyana collapsed to her knees, her head tilted back as she watched her attack in action. But before the energy completed its task, Lasyana was forced to stand as Zagabob suddenly landed dozens of meters in front of her.
"Don’t tell me...he purposely struck himself with the heavy shields to escape Lunar Oblivion’s range?"
As if confirming the empress’s suspicion, Zagabob stood up and laughed heartily.
"Lasyana!" the demon shouted after his laughter subsided. "Now you don’t have enough prana to use that scythe’s power. What a pity, but your time is up!"
Lasyana scoffed, ordering her three monsters to attack.
Zagabob ignored them. Although he had also drained much of his prana, he could now fight more freely—no longer worrying about the sacred scythe’s attacks. He dodged the attacks from the three monsters and charged straight at the empress.
Lasyana deflected Zagabob’s earth spear with her scythe and leaped backward to widen the distance between them.
Zagabob tried to pursue her, but the ferocity of Lasyana’s three monsters delayed his attempt. He was forced to fend them off.
Lasyana planted her scythe into the ground and clasped her hands together. She didn’t bother engaging Zagabob in close combat; she knew she would lose. She had another plan. She needed to gather prana quickly to defeat Zagabob completely.
However, it was a mistake she couldn’t have foreseen.
Within ten seconds of clasping her hands, dozens of ice spears shot straight at her. She reflexively leaped back to avoid them. Simultaneously, one of the ice spears struck her sacred scythe, sending it flying a short distance away.
Lasyana had no time to retrieve her scythe as the barrage of ice spears continued to push her back.
When she saw the smile on the demon attacking her, she realized his true intent. She hadn’t considered it because demons couldn’t use sacred weapons. But if his goal was to prevent her from using the scythe, stealing it was the ideal option.
Lasyana tried to rush forward to reclaim her scythe, but the ice demon had already snatched it and fled at full speed. The empress naturally wouldn’t allow it, but Zagabob had positioned himself between her and the fleeing demon. The powerful demon had already destroyed one of her monsters and raced to that spot.
"I’ll be waiting at Lady Levia’s place, Lord Zagabob!" the demon shouted.
Zagabob laughed heartily, paying no attention to his severed left hand. After all, his regeneration had already begun.
Lasyana was seething with rage. Nothing would satisfy her now more than smashing Zagabob’s head and capturing the ice demon to torture him at her leisure.
How dare he! How dare he steal my sacred scythe!
Misfortune doesn’t always follow with more misfortune. Sometimes it comes with luck. And that’s what the empress experienced this time.
"I’ll chase that demon!"
M appeared suddenly and sped off in pursuit of the fleeing ice demon.
It wasn’t just M who arrived. Delphia and C were there too. However, they didn’t join M in chasing the demon. Instead, they both attacked Zagabob, who had stopped laughing.
"Don’t kill him just yet," Lasyana ordered M, her face flushed with anger. "I want to burn that bastard alive until I’m satisfied."
