Sword of Salvation-Chapter 74: - Gods of Seven Sins
Lergen hadn’t expected Livera to let one of their two guests escape. Although she always hid it well, he knew that woman had a sadistic side. However, perhaps Livera had been too focused on the young man that she neglected his former experiment subject.
There was nothing Lergen could do if that was the case. Besides, he also wanted to see his former experiment subject for himself. So, Livera’s decision to let the woman go was actually a good one. Lergen would remember to thank his right-hand woman for that.
"Kukuku. Do you miss your creator that much?" Lergen asked the moment the woman shattered the thick glass door to his room.
The woman didn’t bother answering his question. Instead, she threw two kunai coated with prana toward the doctor. The moment her right hand formed a hand seal, the two kunai multiplied instantly.
For most people, dodging kunai from such a short distance would be nearly impossible. But Lergen, who was already in his half-demon form, wasn’t like most people. He moved swiftly—not only did he evade every kunai efficiently, but he also managed to catch the two original ones the ninja had thrown.
"Fighting a ninja is always interesting, but your throw was a bit slow. Kukuku. Here, I’ll return them to you."
Lergen hurled both kunai back with greater force than the ninja had used. However, he deliberately avoided hitting his subject, instead throwing the kunai so they passed just beside the woman’s ears.
The woman didn’t bother to move – she didn’t even blink.
If looks alone could kill, Lergen might have already collapsed and become a corpse. The woman’s gaze was that sharp, that cold, that vicious. However, he had to commend her for keeping her anger in check. If she had attacked recklessly, Lergen feared she might have died.
"You’re going to die tonight, Lergen."
"Kukuku. You can’t even throw a kunai faster than I can. How do you expect to kill me?" Lergen relished the expression that flickered across her face. "Instead of thinking about killing me, why not consider coming back to me?"
"Shut your mouth, Lergen! I already know everything from that damn old cousin of yours. After you die, it’ll be Rhemea’s turn to perish."
Just as Lergen had assumed, the woman before him had learned the truth. However, there was one thing he didn’t understand. Why had Rhemea told the ninja everything? What was that old woman planning? It didn’t make any sense to Lergen.
"Kukuku. If that’s the case, what are you waiting for? Attack me now. Or, have you realized the vast difference in power between us and lost your nerve?"
The woman scoffed. Her hands quickly formed another set of seals, and in an instant, hundreds of water bullets shot toward the doctor at hypersonic speed—far faster than the kunai had.
But no matter how fast, powerful, or relentless the attack, using prana-based techniques against Lergen was a mistake.
The doctor didn’t bother dodging. Nor did he counter the water bullets with another element. He simply raised his right hand with an open palm. And in an instant, every bullet was drawn into his hand, reverting back into prana—turning into additional energy for him.
"The only way to defeat me is through physical attacks, but I’m stronger than you. Devil Curse allows me to see through illusions and predict movements three seconds before they happen. It’s impossible for you to defeat me. Kukuku. So, what will you do now?"

Mariel stared intensely at the gray-haired woman, ignoring the five half-demons who were already standing on their feet – ready to strike him. The woman with pitch-black eyes had yet to respond to his words; Mariel patiently waited.
"You think you can take down all five of them?" the woman asked. Unlike her five companions, who had already transformed into demons, she remained in her human form.
"Do you want them dead?" Mariel conjured two long wind swords in his hands. "If you want them dead, I’ll make it quick."
Mariel’s words displeased the five half-demons. Without needing an order from the gray-haired woman, they attacked him simultaneously. One of them created a fire scythe with a long handle resembling a spear. Two of the women formed water whips in both hands. The remaining two men coated their fists with hardened earth.
Mariel could have nullified their powers and used their shock to eliminate all five of them. However, he didn’t want the gray-haired woman to witness that ability. So, to keep his promise of finishing them off quickly, he enveloped himself in wind armor.
He ducked under the slash of the fire scythe. At the same time, his right-hand sword blocked the two earth-coated fists thrown by the two men. The two women wielding water elements had already positioned themselves in front and behind Mariel, both simultaneously lashing out their whips.
Without hesitation, Mariel switched places with the fire user. The sudden, unexpected shift left the man completely stunned—a fatal mistake. Not only did he take the water whips from both sides, but he also received two powerful earth-coated punches.
Mariel didn’t stop after swapping places with the fire user. Immediately after, he switched places with one of the earth users. As the fire user was sent flying from the two punches to his right side, one of Mariel’s wind swords successfully slashed the throat of the half-demon beside him.
The earth user, who had swapped places with Mariel, was also thrown back after colliding with the fire user. Meanwhile, the two water users were visibly shocked as their comrade’s head flew through the air. Mariel paid no attention to their reaction; he swiftly thrust one of his wind swords through the heart of the now headless man.
The two water users quickly overcame their shock. They cursed Mariel and began using their demonic and spirit powers. Mariel found himself paralyzed, his body growing heavier. Lightning nets shot toward him, aiming to incinerate him. Simultaneously, countless hair-formed needles swarmed mercilessly.
Mariel didn’t struggle to protect himself.
He simply dispelled the paralysis and weight effect on his body, then swapped places with the earth user who had just stood up. The same event repeated itself. Mariel’s wind sword had already slashed through the fire user’s neck. He had barely gotten halfway up before his body collapsed again. Mariel’s other wind sword then pierced straight through his heart.
Meanwhile, the earth user let out a scream as the lightning nets struck him. Fortunately, he wasn’t assaulted by the hair needles. The woman with spirit power managed to redirect them at the last moment. However, the lightning nets still left him wounded. If not for his demonic regeneration ability, his body would have been charred and smoking.
"Two demon hearts have been destroyed, three more remain," Mariel muttered as he stepped forward. "Let’s continue. I’ll help you join your two comrades."
