Synthetic Wizard-Chapter 140 - 110: Outlandish Ideas (Part 2)
Attila shook the potion bottle in his hand, the red liquid inside swaying slightly.
As the first batch of students to enter the base, Sherman, Cole, and Attila have all learned to make Zero Level Potions by now.
However, Sherman and Cole advanced faster, mastering the relatively more difficult sub-Dragon Blood Potion and sub-Active Potion among Zero Level Potions.
In contrast, Attila’s progress was slow, only today finally making a sub-Dragon Blood Potion.
"Potion making isn’t all there is to being a Wizard Apprentice, no need to worry too much."
Seeing Attila looking dejected, Sherman racked his brains to find comforting words, finally squeezing out this dry sentence.
This expression instead made Attila laugh.
"Don’t force yourself, I know my own business, my talent is indeed not as good as you and Cole, I guess I’m destined to be a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice in this lifetime."
"But you and Cole might even advance to Level 3 Wizard Apprentice!"
Sherman smiled without saying anything.
To advance to Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, the first condition is to construct the Nine-Star Ring.
And he has spent more than three years, yet hasn’t constructed the third ring, the nine rings seem far in the distance.
"I heard the newly built Knight Academy has started recruiting recently?" Attila talked about another topic.
"That’s right." Sherman smiled, "I went to see old Roger a few days ago, he said many people have gone to participate in the recruitment."
If there’s anything Sherman regrets about the base, it’s that there are very few students from backgrounds similar to his.
Most students are either from middle-class families or noble children.
So much so that he can’t even find a few friends to chat with.
It’s not that others are bad.
Like Attila and Ethan, although they come from good backgrounds, they never looked down on him and are very friendly when interacting.
But the different backgrounds lead to different worldviews, making it difficult for them to truly get along.
The newly established Knight Academy is said to recruit only from peasants and farmers, who will join the base to form the knight guard upon graduation.
This way, at least the base won’t just be filled with people from middle-class and noble backgrounds.
At this time, distant laughter suddenly came.
Sherman turned his head to see a group of youths walking towards them, led by Ethan, who was on good terms with him.
The group quickly noticed Sherman and Attila, waving to greet them.
"Sherman senior!"
"Attila senior!"
Attila greeted them with a smile, asking, "You all look so happy, what good thing happened?"
Ethan replied with a smile, "Nothing much, just Skinner finally mastered his first magic, so everyone is happy for him."
Skinner is one of the second batch of newcomers to the base, also the youngest at only thirteen, fair and well-liked.
"What magic is it?" Attila smiled at Skinner.
"Mage’s Hand!"
Perhaps due to the show off in front of the most popular Attila senior, Skinner’s face flushed with excitement, he wanted to perform magic for Attila, thankfully Sherman swiftly stopped him.
"Don’t be impulsive."
Sherman pointed at a tree not far away.
A red-eyed crow was perched on a branch, its deep and straight gaze fixed on their group.
Skinner finally reacted, got startled, and quickly shut his mouth.
After the third batch of students entered the base, considering the increased number, to facilitate management, the base began enforcing strict rules to organize order, violators face confinement and deduction of Contribution Points among other punishments. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
One such rule is the ban on releasing magic outside designated magic practice areas and labs, violators have Contribution Points deducted.
For Skinner, it would be a painful deduction in points.
Coming to his senses, Skinner quickly thanked Sherman.
"Never mind." Sherman waved, smiling, "Just be careful next time."
The atmosphere relaxed again.
After a few laughs, Ethan and others left for the magic practice area.
Their original destination was there.
"What do you plan to do next?" Attila asked.
"Go check the task bulletin board and take a few tasks."
"I also want to take tasks, let’s go together."
The two walked to the warehouse, greeted Miss Grell sitting there enjoying the sun, and then went to the bulletin board.
To their surprise, Cole was there too.
Seeing Sherman and Attila, Cole nodded lightly as a greeting and continued to scan the board.
Sherman walked over to check and found many new tasks.
For instance, feeding mineral stones to the gemstone bugs in the insect nest.
Collecting pure gemstones produced by the gemstone bugs.
Demonization treatment for the forelimbs of Dual-bladed Spiders.
Crafting Stone Golems and so on.
More than ten new tasks appeared at once.
"Did you hear they built a new camp in the northern forest?" Cole suddenly mentioned.
"I’ve heard." Attila replied.
Sherman nodded as well.
They had long known a vein was discovered in the northern forest of Flash City, beneath it connecting to an underground world entrance, and inside there is a Human-faced Lion ruled city state.
The newly established Camp No.1 is supposedly to monitor activities of the Human-faced Lion City State.
The source of these news, of course, is Lord Amy.
Lord Amy often brings them interesting insights and occasionally stories of the teacher’s adventures, providing rare entertainment in their dull training life.
"Lord Amy told me the teacher plans to launch a war against the Human-faced Lion City State."
Sherman and Attila were shocked.
But upon second thought, it seemed like there had been signs.
For example, the gemstones collected from the gemstone bug nest, all sent to Camp No.1 likely to craft Stone Golems.
The newly added Stone Golem crafting tasks on the bulletin board were evidently because of this reason.
"I plan to ask the teacher to let me participate in the war." Cole made a surprising statement.
"Participate in the war?"
Attila and Sherman exchanged glances, both looking a little surprised.
"Wouldn’t that be too risky?"
"Yeah, isn’t such a level of war beyond our participation?"
Soldiers participating in the war are either the weakest human-faced lions with Knight Level power or Knight Level Stone Golems and Dual-bladed Spiders.
There’s even Great Knight and Legendary Knight level combat power!
Level 1 Wizard Apprentices participating in such a level of war would be courting death with any carelessness.
"That’s right, you guys are too early to want to participate in the war."
A familiar voice suddenly sounded, Attila felt a slight weight on his shoulder, turned to see Amy’s snowy cat body.
"Lord Amy!"
Amy licked his paw, lazily said:
"Level 1 Wizard Apprentice can barely deal with one or two knights, participating in your human wars is barely okay, but going against Human-faced Lions is sending yourselves to death."
"Wait until you become Level 2 Wizard Apprentices."
Cole frowned and said, "Lord Amy, I just hope the teacher allows me to use this opportunity to gain more Contribution Points, to accelerate my power advancement, and besides, combat might help me break through bottlenecks."
"Why does it sound like the behavior of a Black Wizard?"
Amy tilted his head, waved his paw and crisply said:
"Suit yourself, I can speak to Sunan for you, but don’t get your hopes too high."
Cole’s face showed a hint of joy: "Thank you, Lord Amy!"
"And you two?" Amy looked at the other two.
Attila shook his head.
The magic she mastered are all auxiliary types, none are offensive, going to the battlefield would mean nothing but death.
Sherman shook his head as well.
He’s not like Cole, with a determined mindset on advancing powers.
He enjoys the current state, contacting new knowledge every day, feeling his progress every day.
This gradual unveiling of the world lets him immerse deeply.
He prefers a steady, stable approach rather than hasty advances.
