System Discord-Chapter 57: SysDi : A Familiar Visitor
Is Clara offering to come with him inside the library? Or is Evan starting to become hard on hearing? She does not seem the type to confront him on this. She did not ask what he was doing there. She just in on it too? That is very weird.
But he cannot say that he is also interested in why Clara wanted to explore.
Evan looks around them to see if there are other people. He pulls her to a much quieter part of the library, where there were no one listening to them.
Once he is certain no one could be eavesdropping, he looks at Clara. "You told me before that the things behind that door were old books. There were other new books there too, some of them were still in packages but in the bookshelves anyway."
Clara shrugs when she heard his whisper. "Well, they were old books. I was not lying. If there are new ones, that would be my grandma putting them there. I wouldn’t know, since I haven’t seen those. Still, it did make you curious enough to check it out, didn’t it?" There is a slow growing smile on her face. "You see, I really haven’t been able to get in there so, I do not know anything. But, if you to decide that there is a next time, do let me know and I will help you. I promise."
With that, she turns around and made her way to the other bookshelves to start sorting out the books, as if nothing had happened.
Evan watched her walk away, confusion on his face but he didn’t bother replying to her. He is left right after she told him a piece of her mind. At least Evan’s curiosity was stated on what she really wanted huh?
Clara did not seem like the beating around the bush type. Evan sighs. He could probably make an exemption on letting her in on it. Not that she will know what he is doing anyway. Besides, Iva could stay in his mind anyway. She does not need to know about Iva.
Then, he decided to place the book he got to his item inventory after he had summoned his status panel. After that, with the books he had with him with extra due time stamped on them, he made he made his way back towards the house. There is nothing else to do here and more to do back at home. He has to hurry back so he can check the books that he had.
He has a lot of things to sort out, books to finish reading as well as books he had to check the contents of. He had gotten the no title books that looked like the one where he got the Cure ability from.
Although they were of different colors, he was drawn to them, and he feels like they will offer him the a new ability just like he had before.
He had done his routine for the day, so he knew that it was meditation time next and then a little bit of reading. He needs to read something to catch up.
It will serve as a small rest from the three days he had been inside the stone hill cave. He is not too eager to go back in there for now. He is lucky that his parents were away and didn’t try to find him. What if they were around when he disappeared? They would have no idea where to find him. Worse yet, they will feel devastated that he didn’t say a single word.
’So, what is the next on the to-do list?’ Iva says, almost out of nowhere.
Evan sighs. Sometimes, he is so lost in thought that he forgot that Iva is around. "Mostly meditation. I need to catch up."
’Boring... And then reading.’ It was not asking a question. It was saying a statement.
Evan nods his head. "I have been gone for three days, passed out in that cave and then tried to look for an exit that I couldn’t find without a companion to talk to. I am not really excited or looking forward in getting in there at the moment."
Iva whines. ’But it will be fun! This time, you have more abilities to unlock from our small library trip. You are rested and you have everything back to normal. You are not tired anymore. Besides, you wanted to finish that quest deadline right?’
Evan almost completely forgot about the deadline. It wasn’t at the exact time as the day of the entrance exam. That means that he really has way less time than he would have liked.
"That is fair." Evan says softly, as he finally made his way back home. He made his way immediately to his room, placing the books he had with him in the bedside table.
’So? Are you going?’ Iva asked, curiosity clear in its voice.
"Maybe later. Like I said, meditation first. I need to catch up. Maybe I’ll do light reading afterwards and then go to the stone hill cave only when time permits. I am not going as far as I did with the other one. It know it will be much longer walk."
In his irritation, he almost did not notice that there is a pounding on the front door. His eyebrows furrowed, not really expecting anyone to be visiting him.
His parents are out, and they did not tell him if there would be anyone who will come to get something at all. And if it is them, he is sure that they will not be knocking on the door at all. They would just be entering, since they have a key to the lock.
Carefully, Evan walks towards the door. He pressed his ear against the wall. He did not notice anything weird, so he opens the door.
In front of him is Spire. He blinked his eyes. Is he getting blind too? Or seeing things?
