System Discord-Chapter 71: SysDi : Speed, Strength and Courage 4
Left. Left. Right. Center. Left. Right. Center. Right. Left.
First, there were purple bars with green stripes on the legs.
Evan remembered that the second was empty, just like most of them.
What the other enemies that were contained in those corridors were all written in a paper that he has brought out just so he wouldn’t forget. Even if he doesn’t remember what he had written, the list will never.
Iva has yet to follow where he had gone. Evan didn’t mind at all. He was just busy double checking if he had missed anything that he needed to know about.
Some of them were empty, and even if they were, Evan doesn’t trust it. Not even a single bit. Why would they put out some corridors with an inevitable fight within it, but some of the passage did not have any?
It was bound to have anyone asking what is wrong with that passage in particular. In this case, Evan is the only one curious enough to ask whoever he can.
There is no reason to dwell on it too much though. He had to move on. He only needed to get through half today, or just as much as he could.
The best part is once he is cleared with the previous rooms, he can just continue walking inside until he reached where he last left off.
Downside is really just the fast travel he had to do.
Evan hopes he gets used to that type of travel already.
Now, thankfully, Evan was able to take the right path by the end that would take him from to the same end of the left branching path. He looks around him and realized that he is back in the Cave of Underwater Lake of Boon.
There was a brief moment of the ground rumbling, just like when he had first stumbled upon the Lake he is now looking at.
The lake was as magnificent as when he had seen it earlier before he began his goal. Shimmering water that seems to be illuminated a little bit by what little light the torches emit.
Not illuminated by the same light that Evan was before. But if he remembered correctly, the waters were clear when it was a clearer light and not just the orange-yellow that the fire had on the walls.
Evan sighs, feeling the creeping headache. He had overworked his mind and eyes from looking around for anything wrong while he moved.
But, he was able to get here way before Iva ever did. Maybe it is still looking for the path and somehow got lost? Or Evan was just able to get through by sheer luck to the end without much of an issue.
Either way, he is sure that he will be able to finish the side quest maybe by tomorrow night, hopefully.
Since his conditions were met for the Simulation Zone’s intention that he had made earlier, Evan blinked and he is back at the same corridor he had activated the Simulation Zone earlier.
He can immediately hear the howling of the wild wolves from the same direction they had just passed through.
"Iva, did you find anything while you were on a different path?" Evan asked, glancing at the direction of Iva the slime.
It is just resting on his shoulder, not making much of a sound before it wiggles slightly. "Uhh- yeah, no. I will suggest not to go to where I was. It was dark and I could not see anything. It think it was the same feeling when you passed by the left path. It has a connecting path too but it would be painful for you, I think. Did you find anything interesting?"
Evan nods his head. "I found the connecting path, thankfully. The solution doesn’t seem to just be one way huh?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
His attention was caught by another howling. Evan hums. "Okay, I can use one more void to finish off the wild wolves’ corridor and then we’re done for tonight. The rest of the passages that I passed by either had enemies I cannot face head on without dying, or just plain empty."
He picked Iva up from his shoulder and placed it on top of his head. "Stay there while I use my Void ability. I hope you don’t get blown off."
Evan sneaked a little to make sure that he can attempt a sneak attack.
The loose stones that he got his foot to step on was way too loud though that Evan saw multiple wolf ears to flicker and turn to his direction.
Oh no.
Instead of running back and away from the wolves, Evan felt determination and adrenaline fuel his body. He ran straight forth through danger.
"Ah! Are you crazy!? Evan they’re going to make you kibble!" Iva yelled so loud it echoed in the corridor.
Even more wild wolves are aware of their presence.
Evan didn’t know why, but he felt compelled to stand in between the room. There was a circle there, and a couple of writings on the very ground surrounding it that he couldn’t understand what it had meant.
This was not here before. He didn’t see it when he was walking around in the Simulation Zone.
It doesn’t matter now.
"We are going to die!!!" Iva the slime is bouncing on top of his head like crazy, but it didn’t move away nor did it convince Evan to leave.
The wild wolves are encircling them. They are all looking at Evan as if he is fresh meal, and he would be if he gets caught.
Evan kept his breathing still, no running, no panting. Just forcibly stilling his breath into calmness.
He can hear his own heart beating almost erratically in nervousness. His logical brain is telling him that the obvious answer was to be in a safe distance and use his Void ability.
Instead, Evan ran here, completely getting himself and Iva surrounded in all direction.
Completely ignoring Iva’s panicked yells, his eyes closed as the wild wolves around him began to pounce.
