System Discord-Chapter 75: SysDi : Training with Sir Theobald
After breakfast, Evan was offered the same dessert that Spire was eating last night by the servants, which he declined. He had already tasted it and it felt like he didn’t really need something that sweet for now.
He instead made his way out from the dining room and towards the east wing. The map panel is hovering, following his sight but still staying at the same spot on his left.
"Joshua, do you know where the training room is that Sir Theobald has mentioned before?" Evan asked, pretending to not be aware of where placed was.
He cannot just barged in places out of nowhere. He may have an idea of where it is, but this is his first morning here. He knows he should act like it. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Joshua nods his head. "Master Theobald must have only mentioned the direction. Please allow me to take the lead."
Evan nods his head and waits for Joshua to walk in front of him. He watched as the servant takes the lead and began to walk.
He began to follow behind him, checking the map on his left to make sure that they are approaching the same room that Evan thinks the training room is.
Joshua stops, then began knocking on the door, seemingly aware that there are other people inside the training room currently. "I am with young master Evan."
Without the need to open the door using the door knob, the door opens. Joshua bows his head when he does, and gestured for Evan to enter.
Evan looks back at him when Joshua is about to close the door without entering. "Aren’t you coming in with me?"
Joshua shook his head. "I don’t have explicit permission, so I can’t enter. But I will be here when you are done."
Before Evan can say anything more, the door fully closed.
He has no idea what to do here really. He may have his mana points back, but there isn’t any way for him to train his abilities unless he goes out to the stone hill cave and level up from there.
Evan turns around from the door to the inside of the room. It is huge, which he isn’t expecting. It felt as if the room is bigger on the inside than it was from the outside.
There are a lot of pillars in the room, one on each side. Then, there are railings. That is almost as tall as Evan. The railings were surrounding the space in the middle that seems to be lower and hallowed out, which can’t be seen from where Evan is.
So, he walked towards the railing so he can see what is on there
It is deeper and lower than Evan had thought. He could barely see what is happening below that he had to tiptoe a little bit even if he is taller than the railings, just leaning down was not enough.
He saw marks on the walls, several of them. Burn marks and scratches. In the middle, there is Sir Theobald, in a stance. He is standing there with his left arm behind him and his right arm in front of him. His legs are spread a little apart for balance.
Sir Theobald is spinning around slowly in his location, locking his eyesight with a person in front of him.
Spire, Evan realized.
Spire has her hair tied up in two braids. She is not wearing a dress at the moment. Instead, she is wearing comfortable looking pants and shirt. She also has a little band on the front of her face, as if trying to make sure no hair goes to her face.
She is panting and sweaty, as if she had been at it for hours.
"Ah, ah. Is that all?" Sir Theobald said. He looks up for a brief moment and met Evan’s eyes, and he did a little wink to acknowledge his presence before turning back to Spire.
"No!" Spire replies. She takes a deep breath and makes a circular motion in the air before pushing it against Sir Theobald.
A burst of fire came from her open palms, getting the temperature high and the huge shot of flame that almost got to Evan’s location.
It was a phenomenal show that Spire had a ton of mana reserves, because the attack is sustained.
Then, with a small slice of air, it dissipates. It was one brief swipe of a hand from Sir Theobald. No tricks, not even a single element was came from his hand. It was just a simple hand gesture used to cancel out the strong fire.
Spire collapses on the floor, more sweat dripping from her forehead as she tried to catch her breath. She looks completely beaten, unable to get up and continue the spar.
"We’ll end training here." Sir Theobald announces. "Go clean up and eat. Replenish your strength. We’ll start later afternoon again. Be ready."
"Yes, father." Spire’s voice was shaky, but she was able to reply. She was able to stand, a little unsteady. The determination is still burning in her eyes, even if she is defeated as of this moment.
Satisfied, Sir Theobald looks up at where Evan was. He hums, as if remembering something. "Evan, come down here."
Evan looks at the side and realized that the walls may have a lot of burn marks and scratches, but they are slowly healing up.
The walls down there are made of self healing materials it looks like. And they don’t look like the cheap ones too. He has heard about them, just not those that heals up quickly enough that anyone can see how fast it returns back to its supposed look.
He then noticed that there is a stairs at the other corner of the room. It is the only way going down so he figured that he can use that to go get to the space beyond the railing he just saw.
"Okay, I will be there." Evan replies and nods at Sir Theobald’s direction, before he went towards the stairs.
On his way down, Evan saw that Spire is also going up the stairs. She seems to be struggling on shaky legs as she ascends. Her fox like ears were dropping down, looking defeated and tired. She looks like she needs to drink more water. When she slips on one of the steps, Evan was quick enough that he was able to catch her.
It is most likely the agility he got from leveling up. Apart from the natural speed he already has before he leveled up.
"Careful." Evan says, holding her up steady.
Spire just looks at him and sighs. She has her other arm gripping the railing of the stairs. "Thanks."
Evan shrugs. "You need the help. No worries."
Spire didn’t seem to be as talkative as she used to be. That fact would have made Evan confused, if he didn’t know that she had just came from a very exhausting, sparring session she had with her dad.
He helped her go upstairs and out of the room. There is a servant outside, which Evan recognized as Spire’s servant. He made sure that Spire is taken cared of first, with the servant helping her, before he returns to the stairs with the door closed behind him.
Going down the stairs, he can’t help but think what Sir Theobald wanted. There is no way Evan can’t spar, not really. He didn’t have enough mana to sustain anything like what Spire had just done.
That attack Spire did must have drained so much mana. Evan is not an elemental ability user, but he also knew that if Spire was able to train that and have amazing control, she would be able to create a destructive fire attack.
When he got to the space itself of the railing, it didn’t look real. The distance between the ground he is standing and the railings upstairs were quite a few feet away, maybe an entire adult’s heigh and a half. The walls were almost fully healed at this point and Sir Theobald is just standing there, waiting for Evan to finish his exploration.
"I knew you would come here." Sir Theobald began, with a small smile on his face. "I just didn’t know when that would be."
Evan looked at him with a furrowed eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Sir Theobald chuckles a little. "I saw the determination on your eyes the first time I met you, young Evan. That was the same look my own father saw in me, burning and waiting to come out. I knew you will come here to train too. What is your mana reserves category?"
Evan gulps a little. "Category Z, sir."
Sir Theobald raised an eyebrow after he heard that. "Really? Because it seems to me that you have plenty, you just don’t know how to access it."
That... That is news to Evan. "How can you tell?"
Another chuckle came from Sir Theobald. "When you are stronger, that will come in time. I will be training you from here in out, after all. Now, why don’t you try and attack me the way you do it. Give me your best shot."
