Chapter 243: An old friend in the sick bay

Andria’s POV

I stood up and walked slowly to the shower; every step felt very heavy. I was exhausted, anxious and angry.

The hate for the Falcons was rekindled, and the reason for coming to Ashwood was born.

"But what did that dream mean? Who was the baby, and what was the essence of that dream?" I muttered to myself.

"You are more than you think, and I was sent to you as your wolf for a reason.

Remember, my name is Athena, I am a fighting wolf, supposed to fight for and with you.

There’s a battle ahead, you can either stop it or worsen it," Athena whispered.

I put on the shower and let the water cascade down my body, slightly relieving me of my weary thoughts.

Lady Eskareth was the only one who could answer these questions, and I had yet to visit her.

The holidays were fast approaching, and I had to see her today, or I would have nowhere to spend them.

A light knock on the door called me out of my thoughts, "Ari! Open the door," Becca’s voice rang from the corridor.

I hurriedly grabbed my towel, wrapped it around my head, put on my bathrobe, and rushed to the door.

I turned the doorknob, allowing Becca into my room. The smell of freshly baked bread, honey, coffee and vegetables hit my nose.

"You didn’t have to go through the stress," I said appreciatingly, walking back to my bed and dropping on it.

Becca rolled her eyes at me, dropping the tray of food on the bed beside me. "You look a mess," she whispered.

"What’s wrong? You haven’t been yourself since you got back from Zade’s house. Was the party that terrible? Is Zade that horrible?"

I turned to meet her worried expression. "Thanks for the meal, I had no idea how famished I was," I replied, taking a bite from the bread and a sip of coffee.

"You know that’s not what I’m saying, Ari. You helped me with my mate; I could help with yours, too," she continued.

"Nothing is wrong between us except the fact that we have never been close since the day I found out he was my mate. In fact, we can never be. It’s never the same, don’t you see? I’m okay battling with four already, Zade is just a reminder of what should not have been but has continued to disturb my existence..." I retorted.

"Hey!! Calm down now, Ari. That’s such a strong statement," Becca interrupted me.

"Whatever it is between you and Zade, I don’t know. And I understand you have more than enough mates, but I know Zade loves you. I see it in his eyes every day.

I see how he behaves whenever he sees you with the successors, yet he tries to hide the pain of your rejection.

Let me tell you something that you aren’t aware of," Becca said, swallowing. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"What’s that?" I asked, curiosity getting the better part of me.

"If you must know, rumor has it that Zade was the one who informed Sir Kaelric about our detention, making him abandon what he was doing back at wherever he was to come see the case through. He had recorded the event of the entire night and sent it to Sir Kaelric," Becca narrated.

"Who told you that? That could be another formulated rumor. You can’t believe every word in Ashwood," I replied.

"But I have every reason to believe that. Well, I don’t know...you might hate him to the point you don’t think he is capable of loving you, but the truth remains that he does," Becca maintained.

"He already lost that chance," I muttered to myself, not knowing if Becca heard it.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"Never mind, it’s a disturbing topic discussing Zade," I replied.

"Ok, last night was nice by the way. Macy and Allison had so much fun. We searched for you, but you had disappeared.

But we later found you with Zade, but you had passed out by that time. We followed Zade to his house because whatever happened to you last night caused such an uproar.

Zade brought you to his house and laid you down on his bed, then escorted us back to our dormitories," Becca narrated with a dream-like expression on her face.

I stared at her for a while with an arched eyebrow, and she sensed that I didn’t want to have that conversation or any conversation concerning last night or Zade’s act of a knight in shining armor again.

"Well, Macy and Allison slept over in this house. They missed you and would love to speak with you; at least you should tell them you are up. They are worried sick about you, and had already called me twice today asking about you," Becca said.

I nodded, "Yes, that’s true, I almost forgot about that."

I reached into my purse for my phone in the red bag and dialled Allison’s number. She picked up almost immediately.

"Hey Ari, you are up?" She asked, excitement dripping from her voice.

"Yes, I’m. Thanks for checking up on me," I replied.

"We were so worried about you last night. But I’m so happy you are up now. I hope you feel good?" She asked.

"Yes, I’m. At least after I ate the sumptuous meal Becca gave me."

Becca blushed beside me, and Allison chuckled over the phone.

"That’s nice to hear. I would hang up now, I have duties to attend to," she said and then hung up.

Of course, she is now prom queen, and every prom queen has duties to attend to.

"I have somewhere to be now," I told Becca, standing up from my bed. "Thanks for the meal, Becca. You are such a solid friend. I haven’t said that to you before, but you deserve the flowers."

She blushed so hard, scurrying to the door. "Where are you going, Ari?" She asked.

"To see an old friend at the sick bay," I replied.

"I want to see her," Becca said.

"Maybe, someday you would. But for now, I’ll be seeing her alone," I replied to her.
