"No, she didn’t," Jared shook his head "I didn’t tell you this but last year, we discovered that she didn’t die at all. Somehow, she was rescued by Lycan Noah and has been with him since then. I don’t know why she suddenly returned,".

"This is not good, Jared," Belinda’s face turned white as her lips and chin began to tremble "They shouldn’t be together at all. As you know, Xavier is supposed to have died a long while ago but somehow, he survived... No one knows what will happen if these two come together,".

Jared frowned as he stared at Belinda taking in her nervous state, "What do you mean?"

"It is said that the moon sheds its skin every one thousand years and at that time, it is at its weakest. The energy from the sun and the stars would cease to feed it and anything born at that time would be bad luck," Belinda said.

"I know that," Jared grumbled "Everyone knows that,".

"But there was a downside to this tale that no one knows of... For every child born on the day the moon shed its skin, there would be a child born with a special ability to seize the powers of the heaven and make it theirs,".

"But in Xavier’s case, he survived without his mate for three years," Jared stroked his chin "That would mean trouble?"

"Yes," Belinda agreed "Their fates can no longer be controlled by the moon goddess herself. No one knows what happens from here. The future is bleak and I am sure danger lurks ahead, we must be careful, Jared,".

"We can’t just sit around doing nothing," Jared shrugged as he stared into the distance "What will happen if we try to come in between them? And this special child that was born with the ability to seize the powers of the heavens...is there a means of locating it?"

"No," Belinda shook her head "He would naturally come to find them... The person may have existed a long time ago but if both of them should get back together, it would unlock his power and things may escalate,".

"Interesting," Jared nodded and stroked his chin again looking at Bethany "What we should do right now is to find a way to keep them apart. You’ll have to return to Greyhound,".

"Return?" Belinda removed the veil on her head and turned to face Jared, eyes flashing with annoyance "There’s no way I’m returning there. You more than anyone know how Beta Lucius chased me away. Besides, I promise I won’t be back,"

"This is of great importance, Belinda," Jared clenched his jaw "Get to him before his wife does or else, we will be in trouble. You once seduced him and won his heart. You were also crazily in love with him for a bit, so see this as reuniting with your lover,".

"That’s the exact reason I don’t want to go back there," she sighed "I don’t want to put myself in a vulnerable position again. I...".

In a flurry, Jared grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look up at him. "Do you still love him?" he asked "Didn’t I warn you against falling in love no matter what?"

Pushing herself away from his torture, she put some distance between them as tears gathered in her eyes "It’s difficult not to, Xavier is the kindest man I’ve ever met. He didn’t treat me like the rest of the Alphas. He respects me, he told me he loves me and he...".

"You slut!" Jared grabbed her again, as his mouth captured hers in a kiss.

He assaulted her with his lips, as she fought against him, pinning her hard against him. His hand roughly grabbed her ass, and he squeezed it loving the way she fought against him. As his mouth left her lips to trail down her neck, biting softly ...

She screamed, "Let me go, this instance, Jared,".

Instead, he smacked her hard on her bottom, grabbing her jaw as he narrowed his eyes on her "Sluts don’t fall in love, Belinda. You think if your dear Xavier discovers that you’ve been sleeping with all the Alphas of the region he would love you?"

"He’s not like you or the rest of the Alphas," Belinda retorted as tears streamed down her cheeks "And that’s enough for me,".

"Snap out of your fantasy, Belinda. Only I can accept you and love you for who you are. Now hurry to Greyhound Pack and rekindle whatever is left of your love with Xavier Steele,".

Belinda sighed heavily as she wiggled her way out of his hold again. She was tired of doing this. There was a time she had felt grateful to Jared because of how he saved her and took her under his wings but after meeting Xavier and being with him for almost four years, she began to see things differently.

A man who loves you wouldn’t want other men to have access to you. That was when she realized she was just a pawn in Jared’s hand but what could she do? After Selene died, she had thought she would finally keep Xavier all to herself especially after he promised to make her carry his child but everything changed.

Selene’s demise had crippled him so much that despite all her attempts to make him see her like before she was a distant memory. He couldn’t remember her...and had relied on everything his Beta told him.

Even when he learnt that she was the reason his wife had died, he didn’t act violently, he only asked her to leave and never return.

She didn’t want to hurt him anymore. Perhaps, she could use this opportunity and charm him into making her his Luna. She wanted to put an end to being a tool in Jared’s hand.

"And what do I get in return?" and raised her chin defiantly meeting Jared’s gaze.

He arched his brow at her, as his lips twisted into a smirk "What do you mean?"

"I’m tired of doing this, Jared. I’m tired of jumping from one Alphas bed to another... I’ve run out of ideas and this time, if I’m going to risk my life and face Beta Lucius, then you might as well listen to my terms,".

"You ungrateful bitch!" Jared’s nostrils flared as he tried to grab her but she took several steps backwards. "Is this how you pay me for taking care of you all these years?"

"I have been paying you since I was 10, Jared," Belinda gritted her teeth "I’ve carried out all your orders without batting an eyelid. I’ve infiltrated the strongest of packs, slept with the most unapproachable person, given you first-hand information that no one else could access and brought you many victories. If you calculate that, I’ve done more than enough for you. This time, I demand that you listen to me too and consider my feelings,".

"And if I don’t?"

"Then It’s a no deal, Jared," she snorted holding back a laugh "I am a woman, a very beautiful one at that. I don’t need to charm a man to make him do my bidding, you on the other hand Jared, you have a reputation. Everyone knows you killed your siblings and grabbed the throne... who would they believe... an innocent woman or a murderer?"

"Are you threatening me?" Jared displayed a wide grin running his hands through his hair "It seems all this associating with Alphas is making you feel you can talk to me anyhow,".

"I still respect you, Jared," Belinda said calmly "All I am saying is, things would have to change around here eventually. You should listen to me too and hear what I have to say,".

After regarding her for a while, he finally said "Fine, what do you want?"

"First," Belinda ticked it over with the index finger on her right hand "When all of this is over, you’ll grant me my freedom. Let me go, Jared. I’ll help you achieve your aim but you have to promise to let me go,".

"Is that all?" Jared asked quietly.

"No," she shook her head "You’ll promise that no matter the provocation or no matter how intense the fight will be when you attack Greyhound Pack, promise that you won’t harm, Xavier,".

"That’s going to be a tad impossible, Belinda. If I don’t kill him, he might regroup and come back. You know how much I hate going back to fights,".

"No," she shook her head "You don’t understand the state he is in right now, he’s practically useless. He doesn’t remember a thing... and what is an Alpha without allies. If you kill Lucius, the pack would be as good as useless,".

Jared’s eyes glazed as he thought over everything, she has said... this wouldn’t be the first time he agreed to a term and didn’t follow through with it. Agreement meant nothing to him. His word has never been his bond.

He smiled, making sure it touched his cold eyes.

"Deal," he said and stretched forth his hands to her.

Belinda gave him a small smile and pulled out a white envelope hidden in the pocket of her gown. As she slowly unraveled it.

"Just to be sure that we’re on the same page, I prepared a legal document, just to make sure we don’t forget any part of the agreement and you don’t have to worry, I have a pen," she said cheerfully spreading out the document.

At that moment, Jared knew that the first person he would kill would be her.
